braindead: A good moniker for you. John Edwards, with respect for his father & with love for his son, took on the challenge of trying to restore sense and sensibility to this country's institutions, a level playing field, and a rational foreign policy that protects America's long-term interests, its short-term security, & its dignity in the world. I will not mock you, because you simply have not thought it out. Vietnam Vet-Vung Tau-Class of '70. Senate Veterans Affairs Committee Staff 1974/75.
John Edwards was fixated on helping the working man. There is a candidate running who puts his faith in the people by stripping away the lawmaking power from the rich 1 percent and giving it to its citizens. Mike Gravel has stood up to a corrupt president, ended the draft single handed, released the pentagon papers, brought about the "freedom of information act" at risk of going to prison. Mike Gravel has given a lot to this country, please give him 5 minutes of your time.
"Wow, a politician who actually cares. How refreshing. I'll be joining him and I hope millions of other caring patriotic Americans in the Careone Day of Action!" If you believe edwards cares about the american people then pay attention. John Edwards is dropping out of the race today. It won't even be close and no Nancy Ohio Soccer Mom ISN'T ready to vote for a black muslim for President. Then you can have your McCain and your 100 years of war you miserable little Neoconservative troll.
ha ha ha, Ok, so your pissed, and a sore loser... But Edwards was NEVER electable even in the general election! Not enough money and nothing new to say, just a talking head with better than average hair.
I'm not a sore loser because my candidate is RON PAUL! Edwards was the best candidate for the Democrats and IF Ron Paul's not the Republican nominee I wanted a Democratic second choice who had a chance. Rest assured Obama has none. RON PAUL 2008!!!
why the fuck the only people who ever acknowledge this are from outside america, and only a minority in america. If i was an american in america i would get the fuck out.
Edwards divides the anti-Clinton vote, and so undermines the prospects for the changes that he passionately demands in government. He helps Hillary if he stays in the race and boosts Obama if pulls out.
Edwards deserves a special place in our politics for his efforts to bring poverty to national attention and to take account of the needs of the poor. But now it's time to read the writing on the wall and obey the verdict of history. It's time for Edwards to pull out.
because you haven't opened your puny mind to think positively about your part in the whole of society, and perhaps the reality that karma is trying to ask you to think about eliminating poverty for once, instead of hoarding. The money that generates with the rich is exponentially greater and requires exponentially less work.
Are you going to tell me right now that the individual who created his corporation which equals his private property does not have a right to his wealth. I do no think you do not know what it takes to run a business. And you forget that a society is made up of individuals that have a right to their effort.
jbsabbath8: Not when oil corporations become so greed-filled, that they won't even help out the poor to heat their homes in the winter. The only one that helped in this matter is Citgo. Even if it is Chavez just biting Bush in the ass, it just points out how greedy corporations can be. The oil industry takes in $40 billion dollars a day! As if that wasn't sick enough, Exxon-Mobil gave Chairman Lee Raymond a $400 MILLION retirement package!
jsabbath8: You sure about that? An oil-man becomes President and the oil prices go sky-high. I don't feel that is any coincidence. Also, I'm sure Bush gives his Saudi buddies great tax breaks. Anyway, if the "market" determines oil price, then why are their profits so disgustingly high? To get profits up that high, they must be rigged. They heavily influence, if not choose, their own prices. Alternative fuel sources are the way to go, worldwide. NO MORE OIL!
"oil corporations do not determine the price of oil"
Oil corporations have the power to affect the market.
Texaco bought the battery pattent of the EV1. Big Oil has been aquiring pattents and buying upstart alternative energy companies only to close-them up for decades. They effectively sabotage viable alternatives to safeguard our addiction.
OPEC has quotas, Saddam plays production yoyo, Big Oil elects an Oil President, the Iraq War brakes out and Iraq's production goes down
I think you would feel violated if the governmet told you what to do with your house or what to do with your money. There is no difference between you the owner of your property or the entrepreneur, the creator of his company.
Political genius Tim Robbins is for Edwards ?? Well, gee yippie yeah, im running out to the voting booth right now !! Thanks Tim for changing my mind. Now you can go back to Hollywood and get old
At least he's a real person with a sense of discernment, not to mention creativity and talent, who voices his opinion and puts it to power. You are a moronic reaction. PS double punctuation is creepy
The problem with liberals is they only see one side of the issue, they never take time to look at the big picture. You say he is for the working people, but you are just focusing one group. Have you ever wondered about the businessmen who create jobs, who create labor-saving devices, raise our wages through the inventions that raise our productivity. Which ultimately lowers the prices for consumers.
You and the rest of the liberals deem them as criminals for creating and innovating. You people want want want but never ask yourself who is to provide these so called wants
I'd vote for John Edwards and I'm a republican. Otherwise its CEO A vs. CEO B. Corporations have one alliagiance to themselves. The global corporations are collapsing the native American economy by outsourcing everything while the federal lackeys protect their empire by spending our money. The pendulum has swung too far. Liberal vs. Conservative? This means nothing when you lose your job and your childrens' futures.
You deem that ceo's are the enemy. You disregard the fact that they are ones that create jobs in the first place. They do this through mutual consent. Unlike the government, which holds a legal monopoly on the use of physical force, you seem to not consider them as the enemy. Regardless of the fact they coercively take our money that we worked hard for. Do you justify that as belevolent?
Or the fact the money they steal from us, is wasted on programs that are bound to be failures. Or would you rather have a choice an deal with a corporation that would take care of your money and use it wisely because it knows it needs to gain a reputation to stay in business and does not have any room for failures or mishaps.
With 99% of the voters to go, nobody's rejected Edwards except the billionaires who own the media. They decided a year ago that Clinton and the second most conservative [turned out to be Obama] would get the coverage, and the money. They are also the weakest 2 candidates. Dodd, Biden, Richardson Kucinich or Edwards are all stronger candidates. But the people making the donations want the Dems to lose.
This is the fault of outcome based eduction in America. Nobody can accept defeat.
That's ok, the longer Edwards goes, the longer I will have to laugh. It's laughable he even thought that after hooking up with Kerry in 2004, he'd have a political career.
He's done....But I admire your spirit. You'll be voting for Hillary in Nov :)
Where are the solutions these career politicians have contributed while in office. Promises are empty. I am not in office and have verifiably solved quite a few national and international problems and gotten both parties to implement them. franklinlacydot
Wrong. The media is telling you your vote choice between A B and C for democrats.
Texas Succeed! Governor Ron Paul or Texas James, or Steven Austin, or Jose Cruz, or John Johns! Do NOT restore the union. Of course free trade with our free markets and overflowing farms with ready Mexican workers who live better than Johnny's team!
All of you who support Edwards-- please get the word out that he is the only candidate who does not take money from the PACs. He is operating at a huge disadvantage by not having gone to bed with Corporate Sponsors. Obama is a great guy- Edwards has a better record and is more sincere. Please, give money if you can, tell your friends. Get the word out. People are really susceptible to media propaganda. Edwards is the candidate you want. Let this be the year integrity wins.
Edwards is the only candidate in this race that can defeat the GOP candidate in a general election. Edwards has a strong stand on the issues, obama and billary do not.
Edwards is gonna win and we will have change
It was great to see Tim Robbins help out here.He is a good actor with a good conscience.
I keep telling my friends who like Obama or hillary that Edwards is the only electable candidate in the General election. I can not believe that people think swing voters will go for Obama when thay have the choice of a White republican. Regardless of how progressive we have become with race issues in the U.S, there are still alot of ignorant people who would not vote for a black guy. If Obama is the candidate we will lose the election to anyone the republicans put forth.
Edwards can win and he will be a great president for all of us. He is running on public money, not "the big checks from the corporate PACs" like Clinton and Obama. He will end the Iraq war and start America in the right direction - single payer health care for all, a clean environment, help for those who need it - the America we all want. VOTE FOR EDWARDS!!
I think your misinformed on your issues. Think for a minute where his "public money" comes from...out of thin air or people who have jobs with these corporations. The government is not a productive enterprise, they take peoples hard earned money by force. And to say we need single payer health care is also forcing an individual agaisnt his will. Individuals have right to choose whether they want healthcare or not.. the governemnt has no right.
The idea of "public money" is to have a candidate unbeholden to the big money PACS. Because Edwards (alone among the top 3 candidates) has agreed to limit his spending and be publicly funded, "he has said, point-blank, that he's going after the drug companies and the oil companies and anyone else who is messing with the American worker."(from Micheal Moore). And,if you don't want health care, you don't have to use it.
I just think you need to stop assailing corporations and making them the scapegoats. Realize without them we wouldnt live such rich lives...they are the ones that create jobs...they know if they pay workers below market value.. workers will not work for them..its the reputation that puts corporations in check not the government. You need to learn that economics and state do not mix.
I disagree, Iowa just proved you wrong my friend, and Edwards said himself if you follow the logic that you do and this 70road below does, he doesn't want your vote. I like Edwards and I like Obama, I'm leaning towards Obama. And I think times have changed. By your logic we are going back to the 1950s.
If you are indicating that individuals do not have the faculty of volition, then your so called is not logic at all. Your logic is taking us towards welfare-statism. I think you do not understand that the governments role in society is to protect individual rights not deprive individuals our rights. By the use of taxes and interfering in the free-market they are doing just that depriving an individuals right to choose what they want to do with their lives
You right-wing libertarian nutball jbsabbath8. Unchecked capitalism is scary as hell. I've worked at corporations. They don't want to follow regulations, they would sooner kill people to make a profit. It's when they get fined 200 million dollars is when they start shaping up. The U.S. healthcare system is fucked, it needs fixing.
First of all they shouldn't have regulations, its private property. If government thinks it could check corporations to see if they are doing evil things then tell me who is going to check the government...themselves..Your friend the governement has wasted and lost billions of our money. They ruin and interfere with peoples lives. If we have the choice to live then we have the choice to decide how to live our lives..
I love how Repugs and Conservatives(closet gays) take control of the goverment, fuck it up, and then go around and say how gov't has ruined it all. It's ruined because people like you run it. When Clinon ran FEMA it ran great, when Bush runs it you can't find a FEMA person in New Orleans. Why?
Or why are the so many impoverished people in Venezuela, not because of Capitalism but because of Socialism. Just take a trip there and tell me how you like the government to run your life. By the way I am not a conservative, I am just a radical for capitalism the only political system that treats human beings like human beings. The system that lets people decide how to run their own lives. If you do not see that then I think your the idiot.
Venezuela has had a lot of political instability and dictator rule which has led to its poverty. After Hugo Chavez took over, the oil wealth has been distributed to the people. Venezuelans are among the happiest people in the world today however, with 55% of those questioned by the World Values Survey saying they were "very happy" The country has its problems but it is working on them. Have you really been there?
Yeah then why don't you move to Venezuelan any sane human being knows they are not happy and your stupid enough to take the venezuelan governments word that their people are happy. They were almost in danger of their private property rights, which I think you would have voted on. I know for a fact you haven't read anything about venezuela
You seem to look at humans as animals that needs to be tamed..You are the kind of person that is ruining this great country..I think you need to go to venezuela and tell me if you like it over there and their benevolent government
By the way the reason the u.s. healthcare system is fucked up is because of your governmet regulations that you love so dearly..check the facts and maybe take a course on economics
healthcare system is fucked up because Nixon created regulations that were for the corporations, i.e. HMOs. Health Maintenance Organization Act of 1973 "...the less care they give them, the more money they make", a plan that Nixon remarked "appeals to me". Also i.e. by the way, you are an idiot!
I think you do not know your history you socialist pig...it was the New Deal and Lyndon Johnsons economic policies that started the notion that having a house is a right and healthcare is a right...By the way everyone that knows about politics know that the democrats want economic restraints..Look it up its in every textbook...You guys started the Fed Reserve..you guys made us leave the gold standard now we are vunerable for inflation way to Hugo Chavez
I think healthcare is a right, call me a socialist pig. Roast my porky ass St. Louis style and serve me up! Why should people in Europe have better healthcare than the greatest country on earth! Inflation and weakening of the dollar is due to Bush policies you numbnut.
If you know the defintion of Republican and Democrat then you would know that he is not a true Republican he is a social conservative with economic liberal. Realize that many people all over the world come to america because they know we have the best technology and best medical advancements.
If he's not a true Republican, why do you Republican fucks still support him, and all the new candidates except for Ron Paul have the same policies? Republicans=GAY OLD PARTY
Like I said it is because we have the Federal Reserve that controls the money supply which is causing the inflation. Until you know the facts, I suggest you stop while your at it
Hungry for new and different products, the financial services industry added features to these loans -- exploding adjustable rates, balloon payments, penalties for early re-payment -- that hobbled their recipients financially and made it unlikely that they would be able, after a brief honeymoon period, to repay the loans at all.
You really need to go back to school... if you have studied history you would know that capitalism is the only way individuals can live. It has brought enormous amount of wealth. It has given you all the things you have. It has increased the standard of living. Tell me why is a country like Russia who has rich agriculture was having trouble feeding its citizens.
Kiss my brown ass. Unregulated capitalism is a disaster. Yeah sure I work at a job I hate (I hate by the way because they ignore regulations which could kill people if not followed)to make ends meet like everyone else. But if we didn't have unions, ralph nader, or the countless other brave people who have stood up to the corporations I would'nt doubt we would be back in the feudal ages with me being a slave. I'm not picking your cotton Masser jbsabbath8.
You seriously need to take econ 101 your so idiotic on economic issues. First of all it is obvious in order for capitalism to work as it has it has to be unregulated. There is no such thing as regulated capitalism its only welfare-statism. The government cannot control a private enterprise because it is private property. It is like if the government knocks on your door and tells you what to do with your property, obviously you would feel violated
First of all Capitalism brought us out of the feudal ages. Capitalism recognizes individual rights and in a capitalist society all human relationships are voluntary. You have a right to choose the job and if you do not like your job as you do now then you have the right to leave. No one is forcing you to work their. It is basic knowledge just read up on history and econ and maybe you will realize what I'm talkin bout
Great speech. The media's election coverage has been so unfair, it's unbelievable. The "big" news we've been forcefed for months is the easy story of first viable woman candidate vs. first viable black candidate. Oh, the media pays lip-service sometimes to the other Democrats who insist on mucking up the neck-and-neck horserace story they want to be covering by running for President and getting votes. Show them, NH! Vote for Edwards! Make the media report, rather than create, the news!!
NO MORE ROBOTS! NO MORE STATE MAFIA! NO MORE COMPROMISES! NO MORE CORPORATE SPONSORED PUPPETS WITH BOUGHT POLICIES CORRUPTED BY THE RICH FOR THE RICH!
I know why D.C. Elites don't want him in the WH. It's because he doesn't "play" their game and they're afraid to lose ANY power! It's about money and greed, we need to help get his message out to everyone! Please donate, I truly feel he DOES care and has dedicated most of his life for those who have so little!
No FairTax no vote Edwards, The Income taxes and payroll taxes stink to high hell, look at our month to month pay stubs. I wan't 100% of my checks plus a prebate check every month. No more home taxes or taxes on anything used or pre-owned. Fairtax dot org.
Obama gives the best speech but when it comes to ideas and positions, it all gets a little vague. Clinton is all about change, i.e., she changes her positions all the time. John Edwards is the only candidate with real courage and integrity to take on the establishment and create real change.
My view exactly, Obama doesnt get into specifics. He might have nice plans but I want to hear how he plans to carry out those plans. It takes someone bold with integrity to stand up and talk about his proposals in detail. Thats John Edwards.
Absolutely! Clinton would take us back to the 1990s. Obama is a great public speaker but we need to hear concrete plans and ideas. Edwards will reign in corporations and stand up for the People.
You have to hand it to Tim Robbins. He broke away from the hipster crowd. Instead, he's supporting the candidate who may not be the coolest or trendiest, but is the best man for the job. Kudos Mr. Robbins!
This comment has received too many negative votesshow
Anybody who would vote for Edwards because of political genius Tim Robbins probably never completed high school and needs help punching in those chads in Dade County
Obama will invite the robber barons over to sit down and have tea and a polite chat :-(
Hillary will organize a commission to study the robber barons and then delay taking action against them for as long as possible in exchange for donations from the same :-(
Edwards will punch the robber barons in the jaw, knee them in the balls, and force them to pay workers a living wage and stop poisoning the environment :-)

The media controls everything, they stole from Edwards. They already decided the president.
They have manipulated the republican race to choose the most warmongering candidate so Clinton would have an easy ride.
Support Ron Paul
He doesn't cater to lobbyist, he wants us out of Iraq.
They pushed a good candidate out of the race, don't let it happen again, together we can change America. Join the revolution!

If you believe edwards cares about the american people then pay attention. John Edwards is dropping out of the race today. Now look at the candidates on both sides, the only one left who gives a damn about you and I is Ron Paul Please edwards supporters once your candidate drops out today shift your support to Ron Paul.
It's time for Edwards to pull out.

jbsabbath8, the only reason you feel violated is
because you haven't opened your puny mind to think positively about your part in the whole of society, and perhaps the reality that karma is trying to ask you to think about eliminating poverty for once, instead of hoarding.

HolyHellPreacher 4 years ago
oil corporations do not determine the price of oil, the taxes and the market value of oil does.
jbsabbath8 4 years ago
jsabbath8: You sure about that? An oil-man becomes President and the oil prices go sky-high. I don't feel that is any coincidence. Also, I'm sure Bush gives his Saudi buddies great tax breaks. Anyway, if the "market" determines oil price, then why are their profits so disgustingly high? To get profits up that high, they must be rigged. They heavily influence, if not choose, their own prices. Alternative fuel sources are the way to go, worldwide. NO MORE OIL!
HolyHellPreacher 4 years ago
"oil corporations do not determine the price of oil"
Oil corporations have the power to affect the market.
Texaco bought the battery pattent of the EV1. Big Oil has been aquiring pattents and buying upstart alternative energy companies only to close-them up for decades. They effectively sabotage viable alternatives to safeguard our addiction.
OPEC has quotas, Saddam plays production yoyo, Big Oil elects an Oil President, the Iraq War brakes out and Iraq's production goes down

VandalSavage815 4 years ago
You deem that ceo's are the enemy. You disregard the fact that they are ones that create jobs in the first place. They do this through mutual consent. Unlike the government, which holds a legal monopoly on the use of physical force, you seem to not consider them as the enemy. Regardless of the fact they coercively take our money that we worked hard for. Do you justify that as belevolent?
jbsabbath8 4 years ago

If Obama is the candidate we will lose the election to anyone the republicans put forth.
ibcannonball 4 years ago 2
Edwards can win and he will be a great president for all of us. He is running on public money, not "the big checks from the corporate PACs" like Clinton and Obama. He will end the Iraq war and start America in the right direction - single payer health care for all, a clean environment, help for those who need it - the America we all want. VOTE FOR EDWARDS!!
krmjcwrwbj 4 years ago 5
I think your misinformed on your issues. Think for a minute where his "public money" comes from...out of thin air or people who have jobs with these corporations. The government is not a productive enterprise, they take peoples hard earned money by force. And to say we need single payer health care is also forcing an individual agaisnt his will. Individuals have right to choose whether they want healthcare or not.. the governemnt has no right.
jbsabbath8 4 years ago
The idea of "public money" is to have a candidate unbeholden to the big money PACS. Because Edwards (alone among the top 3 candidates) has agreed to limit his spending and be publicly funded, "he has said, point-blank, that he's going after the drug companies and the oil companies and anyone else who is messing with the American worker."(from Micheal Moore). And,if you don't want health care, you don't have to use it.

Realize without them we wouldnt live such rich lives...they are the ones that create jobs...they know if they pay workers below market value.. workers will not work for them..its the reputation that puts corporations in check not the government. You need to learn that economics and state do not mix.

commercep 4 years ago
If you are indicating that individuals do not have the faculty of volition, then your so called is not logic at all. Your logic is taking us towards welfare-statism. I think you do not understand that the governments role in society is to protect individual rights not deprive individuals our rights. By the use of taxes and interfering in the free-market they are doing just that depriving an individuals right to choose what they want to do with their lives
jbsabbath8 4 years ago
You right-wing libertarian nutball jbsabbath8. Unchecked capitalism is scary as hell. I've worked at corporations. They don't want to follow regulations, they would sooner kill people to make a profit. It's when they get fined 200 million dollars is when they start shaping up. The U.S. healthcare system is fucked, it needs fixing.
commercep 4 years ago
First of all they shouldn't have regulations, its private property. If government thinks it could check corporations to see if they are doing evil things then tell me who is going to check the government...themselves..Your friend the governement has wasted and lost billions of our money. They ruin and interfere with peoples lives. If we have the choice to live then we have the choice to decide how to live our lives..
jbsabbath8 4 years ago
I love how Repugs and Conservatives(closet gays) take control of the goverment, fuck it up, and then go around and say how gov't has ruined it all. It's ruined because people like you run it. When Clinon ran FEMA it ran great, when Bush runs it you can't find a FEMA person in New Orleans. Why?
commercep 4 years ago
Or why are the so many impoverished people in Venezuela, not because of Capitalism but because of Socialism. Just take a trip there and tell me how you like the government to run your life. By the way I am not a conservative, I am just a radical for capitalism the only political system that treats human beings like human beings. The system that lets people decide how to run their own lives. If you do not see that then I think your the idiot.
jbsabbath8 4 years ago
Venezuela has had a lot of political instability and dictator rule which has led to its poverty. After Hugo Chavez took over, the oil wealth has been distributed to the people. Venezuelans are among the happiest people in the world today however, with 55% of those questioned by the World Values Survey saying they were "very happy" The country has its problems but it is working on them. Have you really been there?
commercep 4 years ago

You really need to go back to school... if you have studied history you would know that capitalism is the only way individuals can live. It has brought enormous amount of wealth. You seriously need to take econ 101 your so idiotic on economic issues. First of all it is obvious in order for capitalism to work as it has it has to be unregulated. It is like if the government knocks on your door and tells you what to do with your property, obviously you would feel violated
