I use the internet everyday, all the time, and I never see data usage go down, and I text everyday, and I never see that usage go down either. I think there is a glitch with Straight Talk's prepaid service, but I don't think they really care about counting down texts, so I was wondering how do they keep up with thousands of people's minutes of use if they never count down texts or data? I've had people reply to me on other forums, saying this is happening to them as well in the past.
I have a question. Straight Talk never counts down my internet usage or text message usage. I get the $30 card, and at the end of the month, I still have the 30MB of data and 1000 texts, never keeps track. My question is, how are they gonna know if I run out of minutes? It's the last day of my service this month, and I am still able to make calls on it. A couple months ago, I was still able to make calls on the last day. Maybe I never have to refill?

i really want this phone, i have an ipid touch, but u can only do most things when u have wifi, so i really want tjis phone for the camera, texting, and being able to web browse. btw, ur totally cute :)
Uh with my LG620G phone that runs Java IS allowed to run Java Apps on it's straight talk network. It may not work on this samsung for restrictions on the phone itself.
this is a really great phone. i've had this phone for awhile now. only problem is , you can't send ringtones , only sounds. and the keys are really loud to text on. and if you're not careful it will fall off of its hinges. my phone is currently being held together by a hair bow. but i dont mind bc i text on t9 all the time anyways. #GHETTO. hahahha!
On the Home menu, can you change the Browser option to something else? say Messages or anything? And you can designate certain ringtones for text messages right? not like the other ones where you only had a choice of 4.
Do this phone give you a sound alert every minute if you miss a call, voice mail or text. I was highly disappointed with the other phone because it did NOT send a reminder alert to let me know I missed a call
@MsZyona Yes it does. I currently have this phone . Although i Do NOT recommend it because my phone is falling off of its hinges, the slider is literally coming off!!!! I do NOT recommend it!!
@calebmyerssalem Yes you can do facebook with this phone. But what kinda sucks is you have to slide the phone to access facebook. and when u get a text you have to exit facebook and reply, you cant read it while on facebook. you have to load it up and everything again. It sucks! I have this phone and its falling off of its hinges!
I have used this phone before, but i recently switched to the Nokia E71, which has the QWERTY keypad and is internet capable. Also have the $45 plan which allows me to have unlimited access to the internet. Anyone know if they will introduce any blackberries?
@schwinnprotocol Yeah, for Facebook just go to Facebook.com. Then you just input your email address and password. For Myspace, I believe you have to go to m.myspace.com. (m being for mobile)
I actually purchased my Straight Talk $45 unlimited because of all the comments and reviews. I rwish ST would add video's to their website to guide us when new products are offered.
I have bought this Samsungr451c from straighttalk and i'm real happy. It is java enabled and as this video reviewer has stated has a host o ringtones which ( unlike most of the others) do work. It has wap and is also a slider
I have the Samsung r451c and it's perfect for my Straight Talk plan. For just $31 dollars a month I get to utilize the texting keyboard I've ever used. I get 1000 texts and 1000 minutes and trust me, I use all of them. Straight Talk's service has been glitch free and is able to handle all of the capabilities of this phone beautifully.
Great review! Straight talk is a great brand and the slider phone you are reviewing is pretty great too. Thanks for this review i just bought one of these after seeing this. You are awesome!
I like this 451C mainly because it's Java enabled. It is also full of extras that make this phone worth the price. Straighttalk will do a lot of sales with this phone.
With this economy,Straight Talk is the best plan I have been on!I only pay $45/month and that gives me unlimited everything. One flat rat and no bill to stress over anymore. The new Nokia is 3g and just as good as some of my friends Iphones, except with better price. I came from a contract,so I'm in heaven with Straight talk,no strings attached, you have freedom and control!
Thanks for the review. After years of throwing away $100/month for a mobile service with unlimited voice & internet, I came across Straight Talk and their $45/month unlimited voice & internet & decided this was a deal I couldn't pass up. I am very happy with their phone selection & have been eyeing the r451c. I saw it in person and loved it, however, wanted to do further research on it just to make sure! Thanks for your review, answered all my questions! Will definitely be getting this phone.
I actually got this phone for my girlfriend through StraightTalk. For what you get, the price is great and she is really impressed with it (and with me) :) To my relief, keeping her old number was super easy. Years ago I had major issues with the transfer and it took ages! So I was thrilled with how smooth it went with these guys.
@TheSledhead321 Down where i live we get great reception. Straight talk is a cut ahead of the rest in terms of value from what i understand. Good service and even better rates. This phone looks pretty cool too.
Generic phone. i bout it a year ago very excited but its a very basic phone. the full keyboard is nice i will admit but everything else is nothing special and the phone is in no way "very customizable".
Quite interesing to see this review. It is better than always taking leaflets which are so confusing to some people. This video answers all the questions
A real neat slider phone is this R451C. If you compare the price you get it for fromStraighttalk with other places you would be shocked. I'ts nearly half price ( with no contracts) for the same phone.
This Samsung r451 c video review intrigued me so I decided to check one out. Well, to cut a long story short I took a chance and bought one. Everything this guy explains I found to be correct. It's a fabulous phone from Straighttalk .
if u dont mind dealing with all the B.S. and problems u will have with customer service and their phones messing up on u then straight talk is great for u
i got this phone for my college going son with the Straight Talk unlimited plan and now he even calls home once a week which is wonderful even if it's just to keep the airtime coming!!
I cannot believe the amazing deals you get with Straight Talk, incredible phones that are so cost effective and unlimited talk/text/web/411 for $45.00............wow!
hmmm im interested in this phone i think. The one thing I love about Straight Talk is that there aren't hidden fees! Other companies will just slap you with fee A and because you pay fee A you suddenly have to pay fee B. With straight talk I pay for only the minutes/text I use.
A Samsung never used to be my choice of phone but I bought one fom Straighttalk( a R451C) and I've completely changed my mind.. Because it works off the Verizone network the coverage is amazing. It's also Java enabled and for only $45 it is a quality product.
This Samsung r451c is ite a complex phone to use. After a while I found it to be a high quality phone. It has so many features that it takes time to absorb them, but once you do you will find that you have a phone that has everything in a phone that you need. At $45 with no contract, unlimited minutes this is good value.
This Samsung slider phone is the R451C and at $45 with no contract and unlimited talktime. It has a clear sound ,can choose many ringtones and the keyboard is user friendly. A good inexpensive gift for someone
@shovelmarais It's an inexpensive phone that's worth a fortune in savings and value for money! My kids say the Samsung 451 is the best phones they've ever had and they love the qwerty keyboards for texting and I love the convenience of the auto top-up that means I never have to worry about airtime for them. I'm saving a lot of money on the kids phones compared to when I had them on my family plan!
I'm using this R451C while my Samsung is being repaired. I find it actually nicer . My friend had bought it from the Straighttalk company and he tells me there is no contracts and this phone only cost $49. I am definitely going to investigate this.
is it worth it because i checked out the net10 website it said it was 79.99. So like $80 or more but the thing is i want to know if it takes minutes because i think it would be cheaper if it used min because a plan seems a little to much
I have this phone but only use the 30 dollar plan a month 16+hrs of call time a month and 1000 texts is enough for me. But 45 for unlimited is great if you need it.
I'd been dying to get a phone for a long time that I could actually text my friends on and check email, but my mom said it was too expensive and that I should get a job if I needed that. I was randomly surfing the net for phones and clicked something for straight talk and I couldn't believe how cheap it was! for $45 a month I get unlimited minutes, texts, online access...everything! I was able to convince my mom to get it for me!
Straihght talk is a really good service and has lots of features, now your phone is a really good one and your review is very complete. thanks for taking the time. I have straitght talk too and I'm amaze with their service, I don't think it gets any better than $45 a month for unlimited and with no contracts.
@mattuprice71 They are two samsung phones the has the keyboard. and they look the same. the one that has GREY over the main keys ends in the model C uses Verizon. the plain black one, model G uses AT&T and has a BAD signal.
@mattuprice71 its straight talk, not verizon, but it is owned by verizon and runs off of verizon towers so it has great coverage. check out my review of this fone - search - tjusa711
@tjusa711 I'm sure Straight Talk belongs to Tracfone and runs off the Verizon network which is why the coverage is so good! Anyway, it's a really grea money saving deal at only $45.00 a month for unlimited use and I've saved a fortune on ST compared to the days when I had a contract....best thing i ever did!
I found my previousservice provider very frustrating and unreliable then I saw the light and changed. Straight Talks reception is amazing no calls being cut off or hard to hear calls, nationwide coverage with Verizon network service provider
straight talk is a very reliable and cheap cellphone plan but i also like how their phones can play music and how they are texting friendly with the full keyboard... it is a great plan with good phones
Do you think that this would be a good phone for somebody who is only going to use it for texts, calls, and maybe checking Gmail once in a while? And does the slider feel sturdy?
I have been with StraightTalk for over a month now. I dont have any complaints about the service, and the fact that i dont have a contract is amazingggg. I personally recommend the unlimited plan because I talk a ton.. but I know they have other awesome deals if you talk and text less.. Cant ask for more for such a low price.
this r451c straighttalk phone is a very smart release from straighttalk. It is Java enabled for one thing and another are all the neat applications it has. Straighttalk always give such good deals that I agree with pebblesjames who says their theme song should be simply the best
When i had a contract I was always worried about the cell phone bill and I was careful how I used my phone but with Straight Talk I can chat as long as I like without a care in the world and I just love the freedom of it! I get great reception nationwide and on top of that I'm saving a lot of money....Bingo!!
I am so impressed with Straighttalk's phones, rates and monthly fees that If they ever needed a song to sing their praises, it would be Tina Turner's 'Simply the Best.'
This was my first phone... It was awesome at FIRST. I got it in may and i've had several problems with it. In September I had my phone got shipped to them in FL. And they STILL have the phone. They sucked us in now I don't have a phone anymore. The customer service is terrible, they kept us waiting for 3 hours on the phone. They are planned to send us a check this week. I'm planned to switch to the Rumor by virgin mobile. Ik they upgraded phones in ST but i'm not trusting them again! NEVER AGAIN
I've had Straight Talk for about 4 months now and I love it. You pay $45.00 for unlimited everything. And when I say "Unlimited", it's UNLIMITED!! (Talk, text and web!) (After taxes it's about $49.00) I will admit, I was a little bit sketchy about them at first, but I went with Straight Talk and I'm very pleased! I have the Samsung T401G which is an updated version of this phone. It records videos and you can use your own ringtones for callers! :)
This is a really sweet phone but what I love best is the unlimited texts, calls and data that I have with Straight Talk. I used to spend $95 a month, so I'm enjoying the savings. Its really coming in handy now that its the holiday season!
I got this phone, at first i liked it, but the Internet on it is a big down fall for it, it takes forever to load up the homepage on it, and a long time to go to websites, straight talk gots a better phone now, the Nokia E71, i like it, it has video, camera, you can also get apps on it, play games, watch videos on youtube, so, yea, its time for an upgrade lmao
i have the phone. it is great! i got a new one and it sucks. do NOT GET the kyocera loft. thats my new one. i HATE T! but the phone in the review you get service just about evrywhere. the loft i had it at my cuznz and i hade to go upstairs to thr bedroom. stand on her bed in the corner to call. and i had to use speaker. nice. but the one in the review i got service in the bottom corner of her basement! so i would reccomend this phone in the review.
of all the newer phones that straight talk have put on their line up, this phone and the r355 are the only up-grades I can really consider. Simply because I insist on staying on the verizon network.
I have this phone and am so impressed by it that I got one for my mother. What I like is that the keyboard has buttons that are a reasonable size making texting easier for her. This straighttalk phone is so convenient on the $45 unlimited plan. All I have to do is pick up the plan once a month a Walmart and off I go
oh goodness! This is my phone, and I agree it is a dream phone. I'm a pleased Staright Talk customer, really happy and saving money all year long. My sister told me Walmart is having a sale this black friday on Samsung t225 and I'm taking her over to the store to get her her first Straight Talk! she will love it! a 45 dollar phone with a 45 air card, it's a great deal!
During these months of being so cash strapped, Straighttalk has been like a saviour to me - some months I have used the $45 unlimited plan and other months I have gone for the $30 plan depending on the cash that I have had. I would not have been able to do this with a contract. Contracts are hellish expensive and there are so many extra costs involved. Even when this recession is done I will still stick to straighttalk
i personally like the $45 plan better anyway cuz the $30 goes way too fast for how much i talk which is about half as much as other people my age and its super annoying how they tell u how many remaining minutes u have before every call...tried it once and the unlimited is well worth the extra $15
great great great phone. and will the unlimited deal you really can't go wrong. I don't want to go and like buy gifts liek this for my family for christmas.. but I just wanna like scream in their ears about what savings they will get on straight talk. IT is simply UNBELIEVABLE> fantastic fantastic savings. I spend 45 bucks ( the cost of like less than two weeks on at&t) and get everything they do. COVERAGE IS GREAT
The Straight Talk unlimited talk, text and web plan has made a huge difference to the cost of having my daughter away at college...her cell phone expenses have come right down and she loves the Samsung 451 for texting....she says it's the best phone she ever had!
Well I'm in for a really happy Christmas this year as I've saved so much money ditching my contract and going with Straight Talk....so my New Year resolution for next year is to get myself the new Nokia smart phone from ST and never to go woth a contract again!
Got this phone for a graduation gift for my son and now he runs out of airtime all the time at college so I'm getting him the $45.00 a month unlimited call, text and web plan for Christmas....who knows..he may even call his Mother sometimes!
Most kids love this Straight Talk Samsung R451C including mine. Looks like I'm going to buy my whole family one of these phones each for Christmas. Because its the festive season I'll also get them the $45 plan so they can share the good cheer with their friends. I can't wait to buy them.
I have had this phone for about a year now and it is great, but I am thinking of upgrading to one of the new Nokia smartphones that I see on the straight Talk website. They cost a bit, but after that you only have to pay the $45 a month unlimited charge and you are good.
@sable821 I was going to start with the nokia smartphone, I really wanted to have touch screen which i thought it did but seeing reviews i noticed it doesnt..would u happen to know if the fone supports apps?
I really really like this phone. I was having a hard time with touch screens so its fantastic to have phones like this. GREAT TEXTING. I'm doing the unlimited as well. The deal is fantastic. I am a HUGE texter and it was costing be basically 30 bucks JUST FOR TEXTING with other providers. Service is great and phone is great.
@greenorange75 m y x e r.com (no space) Is great for free rin gt ones you can either send them from your computer, or you can download it straight from your fone
I've had this phone for about a year now. In the beginning, I LOVED it and I still think it was the best wireless choice I've made to date. :) The phone is very well made and GREAT for texting. I only have two complaints. 1. The web experience is poor. 2. I can't use the web and music player simultaneously. It's absolutely a good phone, but I sure wish it was 3G and that I could use other features while using the (otherwise great!) mp3 player. I love paying less for more service!!!!!
Hi, I have a question, Can u open a facebook or any website in that phone? Pretty phone and I'm thinking to get it next month after my phone contract is over.
I used to use this one but recently I moved to the new Nokia smartphones. They're a bit more expensive to buy up front but once you have it you're still only paying 45 dollars a month for unlimited everything, which means email too
@filmguy786 I use to have the R451C and recently updated to the Nokia 6790 smart phone. Believe it or not you get a really cool slider QWERTY keyboard, IM instant messsaging, Multiple email accounts, free voice guide navigation (really dig this), 2.0 megapixel camera and video recorder, 4GB microSD card, Music player, Mobile Web Service and now top that off with a $45 unlimited plan and you have VALUE.
I absolutely adore my R451C, I can't put it down and I never used to want to text on a phone before because the buttons were too small but now I love texting because of the gorgeous qwerty slider keyboard with the big buttons. I love having music on my mp3 when I'm walking or gyming and its great to send photo's to family and friends in other states who I regularly phone. Thank goodness I've got the $45 unlimited plan.
I have just moved away from everyone I know and love so the $45.00 unlimited talk and texting deal from Straight Talk is a dream as I miss all those I have left behind. The phone is cute and reliable.
@88tegan1 Know what you mean...I travel for work and get real homesick and the $45.00 unlimited deal means I can phone home every day and I dig the phone for texting...real easy!
@vdl1996 Don't believe everything you hear. I got off of it for a month and everything was peachy afterwards. Straight talk is pretty sweet. If you do have aproblem i would try their customer service hot line they usually help a lot.
Straight Talk is the way to safe. You will have for $45/month ONLY a month for unlimited talk, texting and web. My friend's son text so much in another company they were that the bill came up to $300 for text message charges only. Not in Straight talk, is FREE or Unlimited for only $45. Switch now and Save.
I was wondering that if you can have a ringtone as a texting tone. Like if someone txts you is it only certain noises you can use or can you use any sound you download? Also have you had any problems with receiving some picture msgs with them being to big? And my last question is if you can have an MP3 formatted sound?
Hey i'm still having a toss up as to whether the r355 is better for browsing and going onto the net, or this one. Staying with straight talk is a bit of a no brainer - but to have a phone to really make use of the $45 deal

I really like the design on this phone and the fact that my chubby fingers don't hit the wrong keys all the time because of the design. I have it on straighttalk unlimited. This is great too. It costs me $45 a month and for that I get unlimited talk, text and web plus it is nationwide
super cool phone, got it too, love my music player and the qwerty keyboard, can't stop playing around with it inbetween chatting and texting. all unlimited for $45 a month, a students dream
Hey Articbrian...not pretty...very, very cool!! Apart from the huge savings woth the unlimited plan for 445.00 A MONTH BUT THE COVERAGE AND RECEPTION ON VERIZON IS THE BEST I'VE HAD WITH NO DROPPED CALLS AT ALL!
Straighttalk is pretty cool. At first I was a bit hesitant to pay the cancellation fee on my old contract but now that I've had it for a couple of months I've made back the money and more. 45 dollars really saves you a ton of money and it adds up. Love my unlimited plan.
I really like this phone and particularly the slide keyboard which I can see easily. I have it on straighttalk45 unlimited which is a great deal. Costs me $45 a month and I can use this cool phone as much as I want to. Straighttalk is a must
Do you know how many megapixels the camera is? The camera looks pretty legit, I might look online and see what other phones they have available. I like the slide out keyboard though, makes for easier texting.
This phone works great for me with the QWERTY keyboard and all, but the main reason that I use it is because of the Straight Talk service, which is a ridiculous $45 dollars per month for unlimited talk/text/data plan. I think I was paying like a hundred bucks a month for a similar plan on a contract carrier. If you're looking to save moneyt, look into Straight Talk

$45 a month for unlimited talk, text and web is a fantastic deal and this is an awesome phone. The qwerty keyboard is ideal for texting and the screen is very bright and ideal for checking email and browsing. I like it alot!
Lmao I just got a Galaxy Nexus for Christmas. Lol Straight talk is crap. Save your money and buy REAL phone, people.

I get the $30 card, and at the end of the month, I still have the 30MB of data and 1000 texts, never keeps track. My question is, how are they gonna know if I run out of minutes? I get 1000 texts and 1000 minutes and trust me, I use all of them. Straight Talk's service has been glitch free and is able to handle all of the capabilities of this phone beautifully.

@samsputnik I agree. Straight Talk gives you the most bang for your buck! You can't beat 1,000 minutes and 1,000 text messages for $31 a month.

So I was thrilled with how smooth it went with these guys.

hmmm im interested in this phone i think.

1cococool 1 year ago
This Samsung r451c is ite a complex phone to use. After a while I found it to be a high quality phone. It has so many features that it takes time to absorb them, but once you do you will find that you have a phone that has everything in a phone that you need. At $45 with no contract, unlimited minutes this is good value.

This Samsung slider phone is the R451C and at $45 with no contract and unlimited talktime. It has a clear sound ,can choose many ringtones and the keyboard is user friendly. A good inexpensive gift for someone
shovelmarais 1 year ago

@mattuprice71 They are two samsung phones the has the keyboard. and they look the same. the one that has GREY over the main keys ends in the model C uses Verizon. the plain black one, model G uses AT&T and has a BAD signal.

@mattuprice71 its straight talk, not verizon, but it is owned by verizon and runs off of verizon towers so it has great coverage. check out my review of this fone - search - tjusa711
tjusa711 1 year ago
@tjusa711 I'm sure Straight Talk belongs to Tracfone and runs off the Verizon network which is why the coverage is so good! Anyway, it's a really grea money saving deal at only $45.00 a month for unlimited use and I've saved a fortune on ST compared to the days when I had a contract....best thing i ever did!

baddestmiamichick305 1 year ago
This is a really sweet phone but what I love best is the unlimited texts, calls and data that I have with Straight Talk. I used to spend $95 a month, so I'm enjoying the savings. Its really coming in handy now that its the holiday season!

Even when this recession is done I will still stick to straighttalk
survivor1450 1 year ago
i personally like the $45 plan better anyway cuz the $30 goes way too fast for how much i talk which is about half as much as other people my age and its super annoying how they tell u how many remaining minutes u have before every call...tried it once and the unlimited is well worth the extra $15

@filmguy786 I use to have the R451C and recently updated to the Nokia 6790 smart phone. I was wondering that if you can have a ringtone as a texting tone. Like if someone txts you is it only certain noises you can use or can you use any sound you download? Also have you had any problems with receiving some picture msgs with them being to big? And my last question is if you can have an MP3 formatted sound?
