  • Great video. Although, assuming worst case scenarios is the smartest method. Account for measured power cable resistance, lowest feasible voltage across the battery, worst possible amplifier efficiency, and peak current draw to ensure a safely operating system.

  • @fingerboy18 *Thumbs UP* Well said.

  • @MaxxsonicsUSAInc Thank you. Like I said, a great video!

  • I have a 2100 watt rms system..what amperage would be recommended for a alternator?

  • @xgac16x In most cases, a 175-200amp alt with a decent battery for reserve will do the trick. BUT, you will want to contact an alternator manufacturer with the make, model and year of your vehicle to determine the size of your factory alt and what models are available as upgrades.

  • i have a performanse teknique with two 12" kickers cvr on a 1995 bmw 325is (stck battery and alternantor ) do i have to worry about anything. pls repply

  • @jose01ification What is the rms power rating of your amplifier? Do you have dimming lights?

  • i have a performanse teknique 1200watts and 12'' kicker cvr on a 1995 bmw 325is (stock battery and alternater) do i have to worry about any thing.

    REPPLY PLS

  • @CKAYY187 What is the rms power rating of your amplifier? Do you have dimming lights?

  • Hey, I have a 2003 Silverado with stock 105A alternator, and my system has a fuse rating of 80A total. Should I upgrade the alternator, or just upgrade the battery. Total system power is 780W with 2 ARC audio KAR 400.4's

  • @michaelmorr11 You should be in good shape with a simple deep cycle battery upgrade. Have you experienced much dimming of your headlights?

  • well when my other question is done pending i just wanted to say it will only be temporary and i will have a capacitor and a second battery set up.

  • Hey audio newb here, im gonna be buying about 7000watts worth of speakers powered by a 5000w 2chanel at 2 ohms (2500w each channel) amp and a 1400 watt amp (4 channel), i was wondering if getting a new alternator is an absolute have to (being on a tight budget). i would only be playing it on its mid-low to lowest volumes 99% of the time, and would only blast it on its max for maby 15-60 secounds at a time for demos up to once a day depending which friends wana hear it.

  • @twin0matic If you are purchasing a 5kw rms amplifier, then you better be prepared to upgrade your alternator and add additional batteries. Otherwise, your 5kw amp will quickly be damaged.

  • i have a ford f150 V8 5.4 triton 4x4 01', does anyone know how big the alternator is? or how many amps it puts out?? thank you

  • Adding a capacitor to the system should take some strain off the stock alternator and upgraded battery though, right? I have a 4000w peak amp (supposedly, I'm growing suspicious b/c it came w/ two 40amp fuses built-in) 2 channels, 20 farad cap, it hits pretty hard but I want to make sure I'm getting the most power possible. I haven't done the big 3 yet, but that'll probably be my next step.

  • @MikeAndTaya Capacitors are temporary storage devices. Standing alone they have no voltage or current. If your electrical system can't keep up with the demand of your audio system then a cap will simply cause additional strain as it is resistance between your alt/batt and amplifier. Caps are great once you have already upgraded your electrical system. Your amp must be marketed as 4kw max. Two 40amp fuses tell me the amp is capable of 800-1100watts.

  • How do i find out how many amps my alternator is producing?

  • @Fellopian22 Stop by an AutoZone store or similar. Ask them if they can test your alternator. In most cases, they will be happy to wheel their little test cart out to your car and measure the alt and batt for you.

  • So I am planning on buying 2 Fi BTL 12" subwoofers and a AudioQue 3500D.1. What kind of upgrades should i be doing to my electrical system? If this helps you out the car is a stock 2004 Saturn Ion Redline, it has 2 Alpine type R's and a Apline mrp1000 watt amp and there is no dimming and seems to handle it very well.

  • How do you put more than 1 alternators in a car?

  • @Matthington10 Careful planning and fabrication. Some alternator manufacturers have brackets for dual alternator installations, but in most cases new belts and hardware are required. I would consult an alternator manufacturer as well as a respected mechanic. That is one project that I would NOT recommend on your own.

  • I have two swr-1223d (alpine type r 12 subs), 80 watt speakers and iva w200 running off of a mrp m1000 alpine amplifier (1000 watts). they are running off of a stock 1998 toyota corolla, and I found that when I first got them in they hit the low notes really easily, but it now almost seems that the battery is low and will only hit the high notes with them. Would you suggest a new alternator, or a new battery? Or a capacitor, although I saw above where you said you do not recommend them. Thanks.

  • @SillyRam I would recommend measuring the voltage on the power and ground of your amplifier with the vehicle running and system off vs the vehicle running and system up loud. Please share your results. In your application it is very doubtful that you would require an upgraded alternator, but rather a simple battery upgrade.

  • I have a pegeuot 306 with a 70 amp alternator running at 12.8Volts. Assuming my car requires 40% of this (28 amperes, 358.4 Watts). I have a monoblock and stereo amp running 1500w rms and 600w rms respectively. . From my calculations (I = 2458.4/12.8 = 192 Amperes). So is this correct in that i'd need a 200amp alternator? Does that company you recommend ship to Australia? Also, at idle when the stereo is either turned very low or off, would the larger alt use more MPG?

  • @ads861 I would recommend emailing XS Power or Ohio Generator to see what models they have available for your vehicle. The upgraded alternator should have no ill effects on your MPG.

  • how many watts can I run on my stock 80 amp alt?

  • I have a stock alternator which is 95 amps and I also have a battery isolator in which i have a yellow top optima in front and a kinetik in the trunk. I'm running a 1600 Hifonics Brutus to 4 kicker cvrs. I also have a capacitor running to the system and my average voltage is 14.6-14.9. I am planning to get a HO alt and the big three in a couple of months. I wanted to know if I'm straining anything on my electrical system and/or alternator?

  • @CP1124 What model Kinetik do you have? Also, I would remove the battery isolator and replace it with a fuse in the front off of the 12V+ battery post and a second fuse coming into the rear battery 12V+ terminal. This will allow for your audio system to use your primary battery as reserve if needed.

  • @MaxxsonicsUSAInc I have a kinetik HC800

  • I have just a quick question, with Ohm loads, does that change anything with the power useage and or draw besides on amp base? I know as much from seeing volt read outs in 2ohm push 14.4V down too 13.1V and than on 1ohm go 14.4V too 11.7V. Any info would be awesome :)

  • @MrBadchoice101 Absolutely! Amplifiers produce power based on the load (impedance). The lower the impedance, the more power they produce and therefore draw more current from your electrical system. That is why you noticed the larger voltage drop at 1-Ohm vs 2-Ohms.

  • @MaxxsonicsUSAInc

thank you mate, so by knowing that i know what needs to be done but this brings up another question. On dual battery installs, the fuse breakers at the first batt and before the second. Should the fuses match the isolator relay or still match the Amps fuses sum ie; two 30A = 60A Battery fuse?

  • @MrBadchoice101 I use the sum of the fusing on the amps as my reference. Sometimes I round up a bit to get a common fuse value. Then use one fuse off of the front battery, one into the secondary battery and ofcourse fuse from the secondary battery to the amp(s). The fuse(s) from the secondary battery to the amp(s) should be close to the value of the fusing on that particular amplifier.

  • @MaxxsonicsUSAInc

awesome everything I needed to know, your the shit m8

  • @MrBadchoice101

sorry to double reply but I got to thinking of one other question i've always been wondering. I'm not sure if HiFonics or sub companies makes them this way, but for IE; the MA HK10000D has no fuses just a 0ga power and ground input. How do you fuse something like that?

  • @MrBadchoice101 We don't typically have fuses built into amplifiers over 2000wrms. The inline fuse does the trick.

  • i have a 2005 malibu classic it has a 105 amp alternator im running 2 jl 500/1s on 2 12 w6v2s with a eclipse on highs when i first installed it ir was hard to sit inside now its not putting out as strong what would you recommend i do to start.all i have is 1/0 wire to bass amps and 4 guage to highs amp any help would be helpful thanks

  • @DUBDUECE05 I would recommend measuring the voltage drop at the amplifiers' power and ground and then getting back with me. Is your current alternator the stock alt or upgraded? Also, do you have a stock battery or upgraded battery?

  • hey i have two pioneer 760 watt pioneer amps, and 4 pioneer 10 inch 4ohm subs(1000watts each),,i have a 95amp alt?and yellow top duralast battery? am i good or do i need a extra battery or bigger alt?

  • @codyclem765 I would start by measuring your voltage drop at the power and ground on the amplifier. Let me know what your reading is? I have seen 1500 watt systems operate on the stock alt and upgraded battery(s).

  • damn thanks.

  • Thank you so much

  • do u know anywhere where i could get an amp that has over 200amps for a 02 hyundai xg350l?

  • @nativeboiy2007 I would recommend trying the guys at XS Power or Ohio Generator. They will let you know what is available for your vehicle as a direct bolt on, as well as additional models that could fit with modifications.

  • ok let me ask something....how many watts is my 110 amp alternator capable of, with an 80% effiecent amplifier and the car takin up 40% of the alt. to run the car?

  • ok let me ask something....how many watts is my 110 amp alternator capable of, with an 80% effiecent amplifier and the car takin up 40% of the alt. to run the car??

  • whats up mike from maxxsonics!

  • I think my head is going to explode! never learned as much as i did about cars this past week! I a newbie at cars and already have changed my fuel filter, air filter PCV valves, spark plug, distributor cap and rotor! and now it looks like an alternator is next

  • my car has a stock 65 amp alternator would the 140 amp alternator that i want to upgrade to be good enough to power a BRZ1700.1 D Thanks in advance

  • @Kingcecil24 I would think the 140amp alt along with an upgraded battery and you'll have a winner.

  • i have a 900 watt amp in my car..should i upgrade anything? thank you

  • @aquiyosoyelrey Maybe the battery, but if you have very little voltage drop then you should be in fine shape.

  • I drive a 1992 Geo metro convertible with a stock 50 amp alt and stock battery. The car produces 720 watts and consumes about 288 watts(40%) since its like a base model (top not electric). I want to put a sundown sa-8 behind the seats along with a audiopipe apms-1300(1000 watt amp 80% efficient with 80A external fuse). It will be wired up at 4 Ohms making about 460.8 watts. The power left in the car is 432. I've done the big 3 already. Would i have to do a H.O. alt or bigger battery?

  • @96Blazer2Tone A larger battery should be enough for you.

  • Hey maestro i need a help. I have Amp of 600 watts maximum power and i am running Clarion WQ3010D Sub woofer ( 500 watts RMS or 1500 Watts maximum) power. Speakers are running directly on Head unit. My problem is that whenever i raise up Amplifier`s gains, Amplifiers tends or begins to heat up quite badly so that i need to bring the gains down to zero :( this is just ruining my sound as i can not enjoy higher gains for around 20 minutes. Regards

  • @myaacount What is the rms power of the amplifier and at what impedance (Ohm)? What impedance voice coils are on your subwoofer? You are either clipping the amplifier, running below the rated load, or you have electrical issues causing the heat.

  • I want to run two 15 inch rockford fosgate subs, what do I need? Give me a complete list

  • im hooking up two 10'' kickers and a 1000w amp, to my car which already has 2 12'' kenwoods and 1000w amp, to a 2001 grand prix, what would you recommend for upgrades?

  • Ahh so you multiply the current by the voltage to get the wattage rating!

I have always wanted to know this! Thanks :)

  • could i run 900 watts RMS to my 140 amp alternator? if not whats the best thing to? get a capacitor?

  • So would a 95 amp alternator be good for a system?

  • hey i have 4 kicker comps rated at 150 rms per sub.

a kenwood amp 1800watts but rated at 900 watts rms

and a crunch gpv 700.2? would i need to get another alternator or another battery? or both? can you help me out thnks

  • So can you tell me what varies at bigger RPM amperage or voltage?

  • @akmee95 Stock alternators put out more amperage as your RPM's increase, but voltage stays relatively consistent. Alternators designed for car audio applications are designed to produce high amperage at idle and the voltage is relatively consistent unless the manufacturer provides a voltage regulator which allows for you to vary the voltage based on your desire.

  • Excellent dude..!!! keep up the gr8 work . Have a quick question. I am planning to install 2 kenwood 9105d amps rated at 900 rms @ 2ohm. I have a really shitty alternator of 70 amps. Would i get around without upgrading the alternator by having an extra battery setup in parallel? Or if i have to upgrade ,whaat amp alternator shud be enough? I have a nissan pulsar n15. Also what subs do u recommend to squeeze out the maximum on these amps? i only have space for two subs in my boot...thanx heaps

  • i have a 1999 mercades clk would i have to upgrade the stock 120amp alternator to run a 2400watt rms system?

  • @suppersoccerjock I would definitely consider upgrading your alternator as the factory alternator that comes with the vehicle is set to match the requirements of your vehicle and NOT after market audio equipment. In most cases you can sufficiently power a system up to 1200wrms on a factory electrical system, but anything beyond that begins to strain the components of the vehicle and the amplifier causing lower voltage and potential failure to your amplifier over time.

  • Hi great video. I have a question I go a system installed a month ago it consist of 4 new speakers 110 watts rms each a 5 channel amp that has 1000 watts rms and 2 subs at 400 watts rms and I have noticed the needle on the battery gauge is very unstable sometimes causing the needle to go very low and then come up and when the bass hits it gets low and sometimes the lights dim and when I start up the car it struggles. What kind of alternator and battery do you recommend? How may amps?

  • @raulgomez902 Based on the information you have provided, you have a single amplifier rated at 1000wrms. If this is correct, you may simply require an upgraded battery to replace the stock battery and that should take care of your issues. I would suggest looking into the Kinetik HC1800.

  • @MaxxsonicsUSAInc I have a 2007 Toyota Yaris and I want to put 2 12's that put out 1600-2000 watts rms. My current alternator is stock. If I added an upgraded battery under my hood and kept my stock alternator would it be fine to power the subs? Or, would I most definitely have to buy a high output alternator as well as the upgraded battery? If I do need one, how many amps would be enough to power the subs as well as properly operate the car and its functions.

  • @CHEFKARL1987 I am not familiar with the charging system in the Yaris. I would suggest that you contact an alternator manufacturer to see what options you might have. You can stretch things out a bit by simply upgrading the primary battery with something like a Kinetik HC2000 or HC2400, but if your alternator lags then your overall voltage will suffer. Google XS Power as they make some incredible alternators and have a great tech department.

  • @MaxxsonicsUSAInc i have a mtx terminater 400 watt amp and i have a 105 amp alternater in my grand prix gt, it has power everything is this safe to run on stock power equiptment

  • Can i run 700 watts RMS on 140 amp alternator?

  • @Allvids9 Absolutely.

  • @Allvids9 of course

  • Can i Run a 700 watt RMS amp on my 140 or 150 (i dont know which it is) alternator?

  • now is this watts RMS or Max watts?

  • now is this watts RMS or Max watts????

  • @MaxxsonicsUSAInc I have a 2007 Toyota Yaris with a stock alternator. If i was gonna put in a system that would do 1600-2000rms, would the stock alt. with an upgraded battery under the hood, and possibly a second one in the trunk work fine? Or, would i definitely have to get a high output alternator? If so, how many amps would it have to be to run the car as well as power the system. Thank you very much!

  • @MaxxsonicsUSAInc I wanna get 2 12's thats gonna put out at least 1600-2000 rms of power. I would like to know if I can power this system with the stock alternator that I already have with an upgraded battery under the hood, and possibly a second one in the the trunk? Or, would I have to most definitely buy a high output alternator? If I do need one, how many amps would be enough to power the system as well as power my car with no voltage drops. Thank you very much for your help!

  • my STOCK alternator is 160 amps on my 2004 Pontiac grand am SE2. I run about 14.8 to 15.1 volts all the time when my system is playing!!! :D

  • what about keeping your stock alternator and battery and just buying a capicitor?

  • @mrldgb I personally don't recommend capacitors as they are only useful for a brief discharge and then they create a draw on your electrical system while starving your amplifier if your electrical system is already overworked.

  • Hey i want to put 2 hifonics xx goliaths in a 04 denali i have 4 kinetik 2400 also.

  • Hey im looking to put two hifonics xx goliaths on a 04 denali wat kind of altornator do i need plus im running 4 kinetik 2400

  • @erobles396010 The XX Goliath is 5000wrms per @ 14.4V. The Kinetik HC2400's support 2400 watts per. Your proposed system would be 10,000wrms and your four HC2400's would only support 9600 watts. You will require a nice upgraded battery up front and a BIG alternator. I would recommend contacting XS Power to see what they may have available for your vehicle.

  • im upgradeing from a 105amp alternator to a 150amp alternator will the main power cables from the alternator to the battery handle the extra load?

  • @youdragon How big are your factory cables? Anytime you upgrade your alternator, you should also consider atleast piggy backing the factory BIG 3 wires with 4 gauge upgrades.

  • hey i hav a question...my sub will cut out n will keep comin in n out after a while of it being on..n the amp is still on while this is happining n sumtimes the deck will turn off for a min n turn bak on what iz my problem r problemz??

  • @kingjeff699 You are going to have an interesting process of elimination. I would start with voltage measurements at your main battery and also at the amplifier when these issues are happening. You will also want to check the wiring to your headunit because when it cuts off, there is no signal going from it to the amp. Your headunit may have a lose connection and be the root of the issue.

  • will a 105 amp setup handle a 150 amp allernator?

  • could i run a 1200w amp off a 85 amp alternator?

  • @fordgt187 There is no way to tell until you measure the voltage drop at the amplifier during play. If you are dropping below 12.5 volts at high volume then you may want to look at upgrading your alt or battery. I have seen a number of factory electrical systems handle 1000-1200 watt rms amplifiers with no problem though.

  • could i power a 1200w amp off a 85 amp alternator?

  • could i run a 1200w amp off of a 85 amp alternator?

  • If I upgrade my alternator from 70amp to 200amp does the vehicle still take 30% to 50% from that?

  • @MrPimping365 No, it would be your initial measurement with the factory electrical system in tact. That number does not change as that is what your vehicle and factory accessories require. The percentage will be much lower when you upgrade your alternator.

  • Is a 180 amp alternator with a xs d2400 battery good enough for a 1500 watt amplifier?

  • @staind039 Should be good. What was the rating of your stock battery?

  • @MaxxsonicsUSAInc It is a upgraded batt. XS Power D2400

  • @staind039 According to XS Powers ratings, the D2400 is good for 2500 watts as the primary battery or up to 4000 watts as a secondary battery. You will be fine.

  • so when calculating what size alternator i need i would only add up rms power not peak right?

  • @killacrossover512 The rms is the required calculation. You can use maxx power if you know the proper value.

  • can a 200 amp alternator harm a stock electrical system in a car that came with a 100 amp alternator

  • @bigdaddyballer2005 No, a 200 amp alternator will not harm a vehicle that came with a stock 100 amp alt.

  • @bigdaddyballer2005

Your electrical system only pulls as much current as it needs. You won't be overloading your system or frying wires.

  • @boysounds It will provide charge to the batteries, but adding multiple batteries to a small alternator limits the overall voltage that you will see when measuring the batteries.

Example: stock battery and stock alt, measured voltage is typically around 14-14.4V. Add an additional battery in the circuit and you will normally drop to 13.6-14V depending on the size of the additional battery, size of the alternator and draw from other accessories in the vehicle.

  • Thanks so much for this video, this was exactly what I was looking for.

  • @sylvaner01 Thanks for the feedback. I am happy the tutorial was helpful.

  • @rickywhitted Bigger is better. That simply means that the potential is there if needed.

  • thanks for the tip on this i didnt kno this.. my question is this i have a 96 acura tl 2.5l my question is that i have the hifonics brutis 2610 running at 1ohm i already upgraded 2 of the 3 things the final thing i need to upgrade is the alternator can u please tell me wat size alternator i would need for my car and xspwer dont make alternators for imports

  • @LaOz32 If possible, a 250 amp alternator would be great. But, if XSPOWER doesn't have an alt for you, I would look to Ohio Generator.

  • I have a question. I'm going to go with this set up: Powerbass 6x9s 140 watts Rms) , Powerbass 6.5s 140 watts Rms, Powerbass 400.4 to run mids and highs, Powerbass 3xl 15's 1000 watts rms so 2000 watts rms for the pair on a Hifonics Brutus 2000 watt mono amp. I am planning on getting a 200 amp alternator, and do the big 3 obviously. But does this sound like enough power to drive everything? Or should I get a battery as well?

  • @Heart0fALion You will need to upgrade your primary battery and add an additional battery in the back, or you can leave the stock battery up front and add a large secondary battery near the amplifier. A big XS Power or Kinetik battery is what I would suggest.

  • I need some help. I have 2 10" kicker cvrs (400W rms) hooked up to an 1800w amp at 1 ohm. I'm using 4 gauge wiring. I havn't done the big three, the battery and alternator are both stock. My lights dim like crazy, what should I do?

  • @Blaze463 I typically recommend upgrading the alternator first as this drives everything. In the future you may also need to upgrade the battery for reserve. This will cure your dimming lights though.

  • I got a question, do you think i need a alternator or battery? When i start my car it idles low then up then low then up then normal and im running 2000rms (more soon) and an HID kit

  • @DJTDames Is it doing this with the headunit and amplifier off? If so, you may need a tune up. If it only does it with the system turned up then you might want to measure your voltage drop at the power and ground terminals of the amplifier. If you are dropping below 12.5V then you may need an alternator and battery upgrade.

  • @MaxxsonicsUSAInc I'll check it in the morning tomorrow to make sure

  • @unclephil2010 Your current after market system shouldn't require an upgraded alternator. I would think that performing the BIG 3 with 4awg would be perfect with your current system. If you plan on upgrading to something bigger in the future then you can always perform the BIG 3 with larger gauge wire now. Same goes for the wire from your front battery to the amp in the back. You are ok with 4awg for now, but if you plan to upgrade in the future you can upgrade that wire accordingly right now.

  • I have 2 apline type rs on a alpine MRP M1000 does it matter wht size alternator i upgrade it to would 160 b good enough and is a cap. any good

  • @liltonz609 What you upgrade to depends on the rating of your factory alternator, the rms power of your amplifiers combined, and what is currently available for your vehicle. Google XS Power Alternators.

  • i have a 2010 kicker zx1500.1 running at 2 ohm to a memphis mojo dual 4 ohm. my amp is not half way up but i'm only get 11.8 volts when i need 14.4 to fully power it, do i need another alternator or do i need to do the big three upgrade, or another battery. i have it in a 2008 chevy impala LT.

  • @THUGGINFORLIFE08 If you aren't turning it up a lot and getting that low of voltage drop, you may have a bad alternator or battery. Autozone will be able to test your alt and batt to determine their status. If both test out good then I would recommend an upgraded alt first and foremost.

  • Thank you! for all the tutorial vids they are very helpfull and informative, but I am still a little unsure to what size alternator I will need to run 7-8k rms safely ?will I need multiple alts? and what size batt would be recommended and how many if multiple are needed? any help will be greatly appreciated !

  • @Esquimalt4Life My best suggestion would be to contact XS Power for suggestions regarding your system, your vehicle and their alternators. 1-888-4XSPOWER

  • i have a amp that is 2500 watts n i find at times that it will cut out then a couple seconds later will turn back on. I was wondering if this problem is from my alternator not having enough power .

  • @mikedev20 More than likely. I can't speak for other manufacturers, but our amplifier are designed to simply shut down if the voltage gets too low and then as the voltage comes back to safe levels the amplifier will power on again. I would recommend measuring your voltage drop at the amplifier when this condition takes place.

  • I have an aftermarket 180 amp alternator, and im running a Hifonics Brutus 2610d, do you think the amp is receiving its whole potential?

  • @AliveDaft How many batteries do you have in the application and what is you voltage dropping to under heavy demand?

  • @MaxxsonicsUSAInc I have a single battery, and under heavy demand it's dropping to low 13's

  • @AliveDaft I would recommend an additional battery in your case. You output is being hindered by that voltage drop.

  • will a 160amp alternator be enough for a aq1200d amp (1200watts)?

  • @unknownRC What is the rating on your stock alternator? That is needed to determine if a 160 amp alt is big enough for your car and amp.

  • @MaxxsonicsUSAInc by the rating do you mean charging volts? if so it is around 13-18 volts

  • @unknownRC No, I was asking what your stock alternator amperage rating is. But, is this 160amp alt your stock alt or is this an upgraded model?

  • @MaxxsonicsUSAInc OOOOOOOO ya its a 160 amp stock alternator =)

  • @unknownRC In most cases the vehicle manufacturer puts the right size alt on a vehicle to run it and all of its' accessories. If you voltage drops below 13V under heavy deman from your amp then I would consider an alt upgrade.

  • Will a stock 140 amp alt be enough to power a power acoustik stax 4000d 2200 wrms in a 95 cadillac deville where every thing in car is run of electrical system I'm pushing two soundstream splx124's

  • @evedrew7 I doubt you will see the full potential from your amp unless you upgrade the alternator and battery.

  • Thanks for the info you are awsome!!!

  • @Dorisequador Thanks for the feedback.

  • @MaxxsonicsUSAInc Now I need info can you tell m how and alternator and power and electric engin and make it spin by hooking it up with a batterie and this is ehat I want

Baterie powers electric engine then the altinator recharges Batterie and takes over running the electric engine while the electric engine spins the altinator with a pully belt...

  • thank you for adding me as a friend. i love maxxsonics so far. my Hifonics brutus amp is exactly that, a brute. i love it.

so i have a question, how would i go about getting started in mobile electronic...i mean getting a career started. i already have the MECP and i know this doesnt relate to cars necessarily but to electronics in general, the CET certification.

electronics are my life, and so are cars. so any tips in getting a job?

    awesome channel

  • @Fr0z3nFr0g My best suggestion is to contact the companies directly and try to get your foot in the door with an internship. Once you become familiar with the operations and prove yourself as capable, they will more than likely look to you first when opening up a full time position.

  • @MaxxsonicsUSAInc thanks for the help, i didnt even think about that. great vidoes also!!

  • I thought I knew it all about car audio, but when I went to school for electrical, the first thing I learned was, I did not know a dam thing. A person without your electrical knowledge IS NOT a complete installer, nor should they be teaching. Thanks Mike, I for one appreciate your devotion to the industry, keep it up!

  • @Ian2lo4u2c Thank you for your support. It means a lot.

  • I got a Question Mikel for When i turn on my amp and subs...When i put the volume of my subs the battery signal behind the steering wheel goes lower then high and low back and forth like it drains the my trucks battery...What might be the problem.

like if the bass on a song starts bumping loud the battery sign behind the steering wheel turns low more than half.

I hope im making sense help me out?

  • @MartinT916 You require immediate upgrades. More than likely alternator and battery. Your best bet woudl be to find an AutoZone or similar place that will test your alternator and battery health.

What is the total rms power of your aftermarket audio system?

  • @MaxxsonicsUSAInc Not much its a MTX monoblock 600 rms and 2 12 MTX 400 rms jackhammers (not the big ones). In a 2003 Suburban

  • @MartinT916 I wouldn't think a 600wrms amplifier would tank your electrical system like that. You will want to have your alt and batt tested like I suggested.

  • @MaxxsonicsUSAInc K, thanks i'l get them checked out...Hopefully it wont be a big problem.

  • great vids ,very helpful

  • Hey there mike whats going on? I own a Lexus IS 250. Recently I installed two alpine type r 12'' inch subs in my car, along with a knewwod xr 1s excelon amp. When I start the car, it turns on VERY slowly. Is this a problemmm? What should I do! thaks

    andrew

  • @BestGamecubePlayer If you are saying that the amplifier turns on very slowly, that is due to the Remote Turn On signal coming out of the headunit. Might just be the design of the unit.

  • DC POWER ALTS!!! FTW!!!!

    200 amps at idle

  • If I'm running a 260 amp alternator and a battery that does 100 amp hours how many watts is that capable of after factoring in the car

  • hey mike, im runnig stock alternator with 4 red top dry cell batteries, i checked my voltage with my fluke meter its around 12.78 cranked up, and thats after an hour of strait playing thats at the amps. it read 12.78 at the front battery too while cranked up. also do you like circut breakers instead of fuses thanks jeff

  • ok i have 1 3000 watt mono amp and 1 15 fi btl, what electrical do u suggest to upgrade?

  • i was watching your video on the big three upgrade, and i have a question about that i understand why people do it and i'm sure it's more efficient. but would'nt be a good idea to have a ground from your alternator straight to your battery, i mean i know that the alternator is grounded to the engine block, but most engine blocks are cast iron and motor mounts usually have rubber bushings, what i'm trying to say wouldn't a straight COPPER wire be a better groung the block itself?

  • Hey my name is marco ok so this is the deal i have 6 monitors a alpine for mids and highs and crossover and a 4000 watt quantum audio amp my question is i have a 2600 amp V MAX battery and a 130 amp alternator is it bad if i leave the stock alternator or do i have to upgrade please reply i dont want to damage my equipment???

  • i really dont wana buy a new altenatlor, i got a t1 12 on a t1000bd at 1 ohm and its not smokin the sub so i must need a new alt

  • Hey mike I was wonderin how many watts of power would you need to have to change out your alternator?? i have an extra batt ( a regular lead acid battery, dont know if thats safe or not, let me know) and plannen on gettin a rockford T1500, should i change the alt? thanks

  • great Tutorial but by any chance do you know how big a 2004 cadillac cts alt. is

  • Hey mike i have a question im currently restoring a 1972 superbeetle with a new audio ystem of a total of 20k watts but the thing is the bug does not us a alternator but a 12v generator do you have any idea on what i should do im planning to run at lease 4-6 battries any help?

  • That is a tough one. I am surprised the Beetle doesn't have an alternator? I would ask the battery manufacturer how they suggest to keep the batts charged.

  • how many amps of alternator would a 2000 chevy s10 2.2L have?

  • ive seen people use dual alternators how would that work?

  • To be honest, I have never worked with a dual alt setup so I would recommend contacting an alternator manufacturer. I have my theories, but they would be the ones to ask.

  • Got a question:

Does installing a smaller pulley on an alternator will make it put higher voltage at the same engine RPM? and...

Does a high amp alternator would have more drag to spin?

    -Thanks

  • The smaller pully results in higher amperage at lower RPMS, but Voltage is generally regulated by the vehicle or an external control with an upgraded alt.

In regards to drag spin, you would want to ask an alternator manufacturer about that one. ;-)
