No one said it should be free, "Scoper50" they said they are opposing (which means they are against) the 25 cent increase because they will not be able to afford both the increase to use the bus and to feed themselves and their families. Try to imagine what life would be like getting around Minneapolis and St. Paul without the bus system for people who do not have access to cars and/or who are unable to safely get from place to place.
The bus is a luxery. Why do so many people think it should be free? The majority of metro transits business is to bring working professionals in and out of downtown for work. It's not to cart homeless people around. Even with the fare increase it's still a bargin. You can get from downtown minneapolis to Maple grove for a few bucks. That ride would be about 50 bucks in a cab, and it's still less than the cost of driving your own car. It's not that big a deal.

It's amazing how many mention how these tie to challenges getting to medical appointments. The bus isn't a luxury.
