Many people call their grandparents mother or father especially when they raise them. I have relatives who were raised by my grandmother and call her mom. I don't understand what's so strange about that. They are also people who refer to their parents by first name.

The above speech is either a gaffe ... or someone edited the video to make it look like Obama said "father" ... knowing full well that certain people would react emotional to Obama saying "father". Either way, just a little searching around for this original speech, unedited, would probably be enough to determine whether someone had a hand in editing it.

Snopes says this is false. Snopes says Obama did not lie, he misspoke. Maybe it's possible . I don't know if this uncle (Snopes says an uncle served in WWII & that's what BO was thinking) was a father figure or how many father figures BO has. But when so many people/media defend all this misspeaking, he might be thinking: watch I'll say blahblablahlieermisspeak and watch the defense in action. If another president did this, it would not be excused.

His actual father, Frank Marshall Davis served in WWII. Frank was married at the time so he had Barrack Obama Senior take credit for the father. It makes total sense surrounding the conspiracy of his BC. That is why the one he released is fraud, to cover up his own embarrassing past. I'm sure he has a credible BC somewhere but the one he released is without question fraudulent. I was a sworn birther until I heard this theory which makes perfect sense. Frank also looks like Barrack.

@Quigss92 So many theories makes your head spin - I just read a book called The Roots of Obama's Rage by Dinesh D'Souza. His theory is Obama is an anti-colonialist basically. He is living the dreams he received from his African father (Dreams from My Father). BO wants to bring the U.S.A. down because that's what his father (African socialist) would want. The British colonialists have a history with Africa. BO sees the U.S.A. the same as Britain ... It's a very good book.

What he clearly meant to say and was true was that his grandfather fought in ww2 and when he came home along with all other ww2 vets the govt had programs for them vha loans college tuition etc. g.i. bill and kept faith with them( and btw it was the best stimulus package up to that date). Dunham enlisted as a private in the U.S. Army on January 18, 1942, at Fort Leavenworth, Kansas, and served in the European Theatre of World War II with the 1830th Ordnance Supply and Maintenance Company. He raised Obama -- was essentially his "father" when Obama was age 10 and on. That is probably who he was referring to. We all make mistakes like this....
