Sweeny Todd should of been up for best picture as well as best director tim burton. not atonement. one critic called that movie the best love story this decade. Really?
@QuietGiantProduction Sweeney Todd deserves the nomination, but instead Michael Clayton. Atonement is a great movie, and it is so much better than Seeney Todd.
i think cate blanchett should have won for her portrayal of bob dylan. it really was remarkable she did so well.
and casey affleck in TAOJJBTCRF was awesome aswell.
but what the hell is with ellen page's nomination? i seriously don't think that juno is an academy award material film at all. but, i guess what do i know considering it was nominated....
it's so hard pronounce uncommon names..i even struggled to spell ronan's first name..ha!ha!ha!...the only nominee i hated most here was laura linney. she's really not that good in the savages and shocked me all the way she managed to get-in in the short list! angelina or keira should be there!
What was with the media teams/press moguls there? Your supposed to be applauding, whooping, celebrating when someone is nominated. I barely heard a clap.
i think that he should learn how to pronounce the names. i heard a stutter for the atonement girl and marrion coultiarrd, also marrions picture was crap

So far, not yet. The folks at the academy and ABC tell us that strike or no strike, the show will go on. In the event of the strike, they will fill in lost time as a result no actors presenting and jokes to be told with clips of previous ceremonies. Film executives and other people will act as presenters. BTW, recently the writers and producers are inching toward an agreement that may permit a regular show that we see each year. However, one side could snap, and the strike may go on.
Shut up! I wrote that comment on Feb. 7, when they were in the middle of talking of a contract. They did not formally accept the agreement until two days later on Feb. 9. Next time consider when comments were written.
I'm surprised that for best Animated Movie they didn't go with The Simpsons or Shrek 3.
In the Best Picture category they should have put in 300 (come on, the movie was fantastic). Hairspray (bright, cheery and left you feeling good) and Lions for Lambs (a great political drama).
Worst comment I have ever read in an Academy Awards video 300, Hairspray and Lions for Lambs for best picture? The Simpsons and Shrek 3? That's beyond retarded.
How in the hell was my comment able to offend you? Did it offend anybody else? Jeez, I'm sorry that you think what I had to say was retarded. By the way, 300 was AWESOME and I challenge you to find people who hated it. Hairspray was FANTASTIC and actually WAS considered for Best Picture early in the race. Lions for Lambs was a GREAT movie, in which I saw members of the audience actually ponder about what was being discussed. Good movies indeed.

They're not Oscar material only because the Oscars normally go for boring movies. But lets hope they get it right this year.
Atonement? HELL NO! No Country For Old Men? HELL YES!!! What a terrific movie don't you think? Javier Bardem was awesome. Marion Cotillard should win this year too.
PS. Just thought you shoulld know that 300 came out in March of last year, not summertime. Movie studios are now releasing some of their bigger movies out in March this year, just because of how well 300 did.
The Simpsons was expected to be nominated for Animated Feature, actually. Surprisingly, it got shut out. Shrek 3 never stood a chance, neither did 300, Hairspray and Lions for Lambs.
Double nomination for Cate...YAY!!!!!

I wasn't offended by your comment, just pointing out how terrible those choices are.
deanriam 3 years ago
You still haven't actually said what was bad about those movies. They're great movies.
What's your problem with them? Tell me...
Spiqaro 3 years ago
I never said they were bad movies, but everyone knows they're not Oscar material, specially 300, that's merely just a summer blockbuster.
