@chicaprinceton Try to google these names; The woman from Long Sheng Province in 1912; Jouans-Lussac, 1945, a grocer who slept with a German and was punished for her transgression. Another woman from a Birmingham hospital circa 1960. The 1945 photo of Jouans-Lussac as les “femmes tondues) of post-war France (the woman who has been caught by having sex to a nazi soldier and has short hair in the photo. Also notable is that Anna later on is has her hair cut (reference to nazi camps).

This makes me want to watch Martyrs. The girls really make the film beautiful in it's ugliness. I'm very drawn to them and this film.

Couldn´t agree more. So nice to see and hear them laugh and smiling, hope they can leave the characters behind them, but also keep them since their performance is so good and realistic.
