This is the federer at the age of djokovic, nadal and murray. People forget he is playing them regularly and beating them after his peak, at old age. Look where all federer's ex-rivals of same age are; nalbandian, gonzalez, safin, hewitt, davydenko & roddick. The recent top 8 players won't be pleased to play federer in this vid.
what a footwork for both of them. WHAT A SPEED! ITS LIKE WE HAVE PUSS THE FAST FORWARD BUTTON.THIS IS THE ANSWER FOR THOSE (NADAL;S FANS) WHO R SAYING THAT THIS ERA WAS WEEK.NOW WE R LIVING IN THE MOST WEEK ERA OF ALL TIMES. and we must suffer a modest nadal to get the gs playing awful.
So this is the so called "weak era?" Nalbandian playing at this level is weak? Murray, Delpo, Soderling, and Berdych would be lucky to come close. You just don't see this type of tennis anymore.
Nalbandian lost to Federer at the 2004 Australian Open, 2005 US Open, 2006 French Open, Davydenko lost to Federer at the 2006 Australian Open, 2006 US Open, 2007 French Open, 2007 US Open and was a huge favorte to win the 2010 Australian Open.
I'm not, and I'm not an ignorant. But look how many times Federer beat Davydenko for example in Grand Slams in quarters and semis. And that matches were very close especially in AO 2006 or RG 2007. You can't really see that when you're looking at the result, but they were really close. If Davydenko could win AO 2006 semi against Roger, he would has had GS title.
during 4 years (04/05/06/07), Federer lost only one match in AO/wimby/USO. So he won 11 of these grandslams on the 12 he played in these 3 tournaments.
If he didn't exist, all these 11 grandslams would've been won by other players. And at that time, the bests were Roddick, Nalbandian, Safin, Davydenko, Hewitt...
So it's obvious that without Federer some of them would've won one or two more grandslams.
You have a valid point. But the opposite is true as well. If you were to remove the holder of 16 grand slam titles from the history books, you'd imagine that those slams would be distributed among different players. Now I'm not saying they'll go to Nalbandian, Davydenko, etc. evenly. But I'm saying that certain matches can be career changing and having Federer beat you in one (or many) of those can have anywhere between a negative and devastating effect on one's career.
I wish the Australian Open would go back to this faster court.. great fun to watch this match!

Federer's forehand back then is quite different from today!

its sick how clean both are hitting the ball when hitting at such a fast pace back and forth back and forth.

If Nalbandian is in God mode here than Federer must be in Atheist mode.

@IricForset LOL. They are both in the stratosphere somewhere!

I always repeat that... Nalbandian and Davydenko are two the best players without a grand slam right now. But most of that is Federer's fault .

Stop aiming the blame to Federer only. Don't be ignorant. You're being disrespectful to the rest of the tour players.
Davydenko, Nalbandian and Roddick do not compete with Federer only. If Federer weren't exist, they would still struggle to win grand slams!

sorry if I generalized too much in previous post.

@GordonekXP i think, at least Nalbandian, tried to take his frustration out, on that future fact -- for him then -- at 5:21 ish
Fernandez218 1 year ago
You're wrong... because they haven't lost a grand slam final to Federer... so, it isn't Federer's fault...
mariomarcano 11 months ago
@mariomarcano
But the fact that they haven't made more than one grand slam final between them is largely down to Fed!
MiniFats01 4 months ago
Yes... but it isn't only Federer's fault... sometimes, they weren't good enough...

An inside the baseline flat crosscourt backhand or a lunging down the line backhand off of Nalbandian's approach???

I wish Nalby wins a grand slam one day. Along with Gasquet.
