I was 13 when I saw this movie. (It was in 2011!) and I saw one of the best movies ever! great music, great story, every thign was was awesome!!!!!!!!!!!!! I really recomend this movie to the entire world!
Great suggestions for LaLoux films like Fantastic Planet & Gandahar, don't forget Time Masters/Masters of Time... another animated sci-fi film with artwork by Mobieus, (who contributed illustrations to Heavy Metal the magazine on occasion), which has a GREAT story with an awesome twist at the end. It was the only animated sci-fi that came close to Heavy Metal for me personally (though I am also a huge LaLoux fan, comparisons aside). Also check out LaLoux's early short "les escargots" on youtube!
Oh yes Time Masters is awesome. Say Thenewyorkpauls do you believe HM Magzine with the film and those 2 Laloux films were some of the various inspirations to the film Avatar? James Cameron is a huge fan of this movie and the magazine plus adult animation and Laloux as there are elements from those sources especially Gandahar and HM Magazine shown. Ever seen Akira? awesome adult animated cult classic
For anyone who enjoyed this movie, i recommend these similar movies: Twilight Zone The Movie, Akira, Ninja Scroll, Rock and Rule, Fantastic Planet, LightYears (Gandahar), Ghost in The Shell, Wicked City, Wizards, Fire and Ice, Urotsukidoji Legend of the Overfiend, Creepshow, Blade Runner, Nausicaa of the Valley of the Wind (aka Warriors of the Wind), American Pop, Pink Floyd The Wall, Robot Carnival, South Park The Movie, Princess Mononoke, Fist of the North Star, Starchaser Legend of Orin etc.
First saw this movie at age 5. It was incredible and had great music. It still is incredible and still has awesome music. It's music like this that drove me to finally pickup and seriously learn how to play the guitar.
80s/early 90s kid too? i saw this movie when i was 12 18 years ago on TBS thanks to reading my TV guide on a friday night in november and also watched Rock and Rule, Vampire Hunter D, Robot Carnival and American Pop as well, they rocked my world. I bought this when i was 15 in it's finally released video and the soundtrack too and then got the DVD after my graduation. Did you too had a crush on Taarna like i did? was it your first exposure to tits and hairy poons in animation?
Sorry it's not your modern Justin Bieber crap. It's actually a classic Mozart song that has lasted the test of time for 225 years and counting, and will be remembered for a lot longer than any of this crap that's called music today. If anything is horrific it's your taste in music.

this is embarrassing, but i dont know what bieber sounds like. but this guy's voice is annoying as fingernails on a chalkboard, and the melody isnt catchy. by the way, we were having a civilized conversation till you blocked me. you want to fuck with me? i've got a thousand youtube accounts motherfucker
@rddaos Whoa nelly..I am not asking for a war here..Let's let bygones be bygones here, and I thought you were another one of those a holes that I have dealt with over the years..so I offer my sincerest apologies sir and you are totally entitled to your opinion.
anyone know what form of art this cartoon is ive always wanted to find it i just like the texture of it for like a background if i could get an answer much appreciated
i m 20 years old, but i think this movie is awesome, i remember when i was 4 or 5 , my aunt buyed it, and i watched it with her when she put it on the tv. ..., 10 years after i started listening to thrash metal, and i forgot the name of this movie....today i just got it by chance and it's fun to see that one of the film that "chocked" me the most when i was child is named "Heavy Metal" ( or screaming metal in france (cause i m french)). now i understand, this film is the meaning of metal imo !!
I know but glad it came to video when i was 15 and bought it to see it uncut/uncensored and bought the CD soundtrack. Did you rented Vampire Hunter D as well when it first came out 18 years ago or saw it on TNT/TBS?
@Johnlindsey289 Yes, i saw Vampire Hunter D on video when it first came out and thought it rocked. I was also very glad when HM was finally released on video back in 1996.
Adored this movie for years since i was 12 18 years ago when i saw it on TBS in november along with other cool cult adult animated classics like Rock and Rule, Robot Carnival, American Pop and Vampire Hunter D, i had a major crush on Taarna at that age and still do. I even bought this movie when it finally came out on video when i was 15 with the soundtrack and then on DVD on my graduation and now on Blu-Ray.

@Johnlindsey289 The only bad thing was that TBS censored it so heavily.
