  • Just watched again. Truly one of the greatest if not the greatest clips ever. I bought the CD a few years back and loved how all the lyrics are consistant with the theme. Your video brings it to light. I was as ELO fan in the 70's and 80's and always thought prologue and twilight video would be great. Never believed it could be this good. I thank you for all the time you spent. Masterpiece!

  • This is the greatest clip an ELO fan could ever experience. The Mind and Music of Jeff Lynne is superb and your video interpretation is fantastic. Great Job!

  • Yes, awesome and I am sure I have commented on it a couple of times previously and no doubt will again - keep coming back to it - love it!

  • This has been one of my favorite videos on Youtube for long while. Great work.

  • That . . . was IMPRESSIVE!

    Amazing!

  • wow hell of a job

  • simply fantastic!

  • I'd be really intrested to know what program you used. I know I already asked that, but...wow. This is amazing.

  • I wish I could make videos as good as this! What's your secret?

  • Wow. It gets better everytime!

  • I had to watch it again...what program did you use to make this?

  • I posted that comment before I watched all of it. Now I think it is way better than that.

  • Wow. This is probally the most involved AMV I have EVER SEEN! How long did it take you to make this?

  • Awesome job. If you have time, make more vids.

  • This is amazing. Definitely one of the greatest AMVs ever made. Thanks for this.

  • incredible work, thanks so much for sharing and your efforts of making it. it's absolutely remarkable.

  • Well thanks for sticking with it and finishing what you started...marvelous video!

  • I finally did something worth while with 8:31 minutes of my life!

    I watched this video!

  • super great video! congraTULATIONS!

  • you are literally my first ......and second comment

  • I found your video so inspiring I finally decided to create a google account for myself, you completely grasped hold of some asian cartoon i've never seen and added A PERFECT MONTAGE of ELO I give you five thumbs up rock on and btw they got some pop too... good pop, not that bubblegum crap

  • my hand wound stop pressing the replay bottom

  • ONE THE BEST AMVS I'VE EVER SEEN!!!

  • love it

  • Jeff is a angle he can see in the future.

  • This is quite possibly the greatest video on youtube.

  • This video inspired me to watch Metropolis.

    Thank you, yb3000

  • hello from France. superbe video. bravo.

  • Awesome Work!! Thanks a lot for recover this wonderful songs.

  • This made me watch Metropolis, which restored my faith in anime.

  • Awesome!! Any chance of a HD version available?

    Great work.....

  • finally a music video that makes it seem like the song was made for it not the video made for the song....gratz man been watchin this for awhile

  • Great video with the worlds best musical group in the whole universe ELO <3

  • This is like my 20 time watching this video and I love it. It has become my favorite YouTube clip of recent days. Fantastic! Awesome! Kudos to the creator with the gifted mind. There are those who create and those who appreciate. Consider me among the latter!

  • Jason, first I must say this is a masterpiece. Brilliant and a great work which obviously took a great deal of time. Thank you for sharing your talent and your intelligence. I was never really a big fan of anime outside of the Dragonball series, but you have opened my mind to new and exciting and, may I say, breathtaking possibilities. You took some of my favorite music and captured the meaning of the words in a wonderfully visual sense. Once again, Thank You!

  • @AMDave1023 If you like this, go check out Captain Harlock and Galaxy Express 999. This particular style of anime really had its golden age in that era. There really isn't much of this quality or style in any anime released in the last ten years.

  • THIS IS THE COOLEST VIDEO I HAVE EVER SEEN,,,KUDOS MAN KUDOS :)

  • You sir just brought the whole concept of AMV to a brand new dimension of epicness.

  • This is the best music 'Video" on you tube; great song ---- and you did a wonderful job with this. I've shared it with my kids, who grew up listening to my old records of ELO and who watched Metrolpolis with me.

  • Não canso de assistir este vídeo!

  • is this an acctual anime show or movie or was it created to fit the song

  • Brilliant !

  • wow. you are amazing, sir.

  • Actually the piece is not odd, if you grew up in the early 80's and it fits right in with songs like Mr. Roboto by Styx - the fascination of where technology was and where it might take us. This is not lost in the 21st century anymore than it was the 80's. I was 12 in 1980, and so when you are in adolescence you go through dreaming about being in love, finding it, losing it - a lot of romance because you mind is not yet set in reality, but if it was you wouldn't dream a bigger dream. Good work!

  • I wish somebody would create a full length anime feature to this album . This is an absolutely awesome video . I appologize for that cliche awesome but my eyes teared. Really, someone should make full length feature. Exacting footage of your existing anime. i listen to the cd alot and have an idea for a story. Someone should ask Jeff Lynn if he would be interested in doing that.

  • A most excellent video. ELO is one of favorite bands and "Time" is my favorite album. You are a true master of the medium. I applaud you.

  • Excelentisimo video, muy bien sincronizado, felicidades por esta gran creacion combinado con esta grandiosa cancion, Saludos!!

  • Jason, I wouldn't change a thing. Well done. You have meshed the two mediums and preserved the essences of both. I am glad that you spent so much of your time making this. You should be very proud. And yes, you are made of win.

  • Daikon was better suited to this music, but good job anyways.

  • Very nice. You are made of win. However:

    a) the original Daikon opening animation is 1000% better and

    b) the Densha Otoka OP is 999% better.

    So...

  • i effin love this movie

  • fantastic video for these brilliant songs by ELO!!

  • What section of this is used in Believe by Cher?

  • @UpwardsFallings As far as I can tell they used 'Epilogue' not 'Prologue' - basically the last 7ish seconds of weirdness after the music fades out at the very end. The intro to 'Believe' (before the bass and hi-hats come in) is 8 bars long, and the sample comes in half way through. Very subtle and pretty pointless, really. There may be more stuff buried in the but I'm not gonna waste my time looking for it!

  • @rejapgee Ah, thanks for the info...

  • I am glad you decided to finish this project..it is truly magnificient..you shoul've won an AMV contest if you entered your work in an AMV contest in an Anime Convention near you....I believe that. Make more please....

  • Frigging amazing and two great tracks from elo!

  • Wow....

  • I would recommend changing at least part of the title to actually state the name of the video, since a lot of people might turn away at the current title, and it makes it harder to find it.

  • This video is so beyond awesome.: D

  • thumbs up if you think 7 people are horace wimps...

  • Well done...

  • This was awesome

  • AWESOME

  • I love this video that is great work there

  • THIS is the way amvs should be.

  • Sheer absolute genius.

Shades of Rachmaninoff & brilliant lyrics.

    Awesome cybotron intro.

    Hugely uplifting.

Superb clip with some amazing editing, fits really well.

  • This has been brilliantly put together - hats off to you

  • Seven people did not receive a message from another time.

  • Try listening to yours truly 2095 through a pair of high end headphones, the production is mind blowing, the sounds were way ahead of there time, well done jeff lynne, your a bloody genius!

  • @ronnieneo What? This sounds very 70's/80's song.

  • @ronnieneo *their

  • I dont know what to say but this one word :bravo

    you made the best AMV

everything you did was well tough out

  • I loved the movie "Metropolis" and I showed it to a friend. I love the transition and multiple use of the movie for each song. I'm a fan of Electric Light Orchestra as well. So this AMV was a tremendous combination of both. you have my thanks ^-^

  • longplay time the best zybi

  • doesn't this movie look like Akira to you?

  • @cruisingcody

    The same writer was involved.

  • does anybody want to help me write a script for a full length animated music video/movie to this album

  • This has got to be one of the most amazing videos I've ever seen. A true tribute to a true legend of a band!

  • Hahaa, this is one of The Finest there is. Well done!

  • 5:48 che guevara on the newspaper

  • I was disappointed by Otomo's rendition of Metropolis, mainly because of the obnoxious original character he awkwardly shoehorned into the plot (the one with shades, I don't remember his name).

I enjoyed this AMV a lot more than the movie.

  • addicted to this vid, i think i'll pack in work... its drawing me in!!!

  • AMAZING VIDEO! i felt like i was floating in the world of ELO while watching that video great job man i love it

  • Yes, that is what I really want. Even with this disco beat they used in the 80s, ELO rocked, and with this animation synced with it, it really is electrified.

If this doesn't send chills down your spine, you don't deserve to watch it!

  • O.O AwsomeJob, well made, video matches beats right on =D

  • For your next assignment, assemble bits from the Fleischer Brothers' majestic Superman cartoons and their faux 3D color Popeye mini-epics to accompany selections from the Eldorado symphony. Or you may go with Disney's "Aladdin" and the like if you so choose instead...

Well? Get to it, man!!! - 1b2s

  • Really cool video! i loved ELO since i first heard last train to london. the music & video blend perfectly. good job bro! ELO has proven over & over again they stand the test of time.

  • Really cool video! i loved ELO since i first heard last train to london. the music & video blend perfectly. good job bro!

  • wishi could have seen them as a kid. Where i'm originally from, the local council (religious heretics) thought that they shouldn't play a gig in our town... must have thought it was devil music or some shit like that...

  • I loved this song as a kid. In fact, ELO opened with this at my very first concert.

  • @DJESeattle

Well, then, you can't possibly be as impressed with this video as you were with the junky little R2D2 trash can on wheels the band used to blow everybody away at the beginning of the actual concert! (sarcasm intended...) - 1b2s

(Seriously, ELO TIME was my 1st big arena show, too -- did Hall & Oates open where you saw 'em? They were the opener here in Texas...)

  • you're a talented guy... i havent ever seen anything as remotely mesmorising as that in a long time. i love elo,... that movie was just brilliant.

  • dose any one know if the is a real anime because if it is i wanna find it

    thanks for any help

  • @biohazord24 It's a movie, Metropolis, from Ozamu Tetzuka [2001]

You need to try to search it en english... because i only have it in spanish xD

    See ya

  • thanks, for upload video

  • Yes, this is beautiful, and vocoders kick ass!:)

  • still a breath taking mix holds even true for the days of today and the day of futures past

  • This has been my favorite AMV for years and years! I just haven't ever thanked you for making it, so THANK YOU!

  • I love the fact that you timed "It's either true or it's dream, there's nothing that is in between" to the moment that Tima discovers that she's actually a robot. She's either a human and innocent and happy or she's a robot and insane and destructive, there's nothing in between for her.

  • beautiful just pure beauty hear, i am so glad i found this, it really made my day

  • Excellent video, it must have taken you forever to make this!

My favourite part was the segue from twilight into yours truly, also the parts where you animated the characters mouth to say "I love you, sincerely, yours truly, yours truly" nice touch :-)

  • Nice video4, enjoyed it.

  • Not a big fan of anime but nice work anyway.

  • and you did good, thank you

  • fantastic... song and vid perfectly blended to make a harmonious mix ... love this.

  • Damn fine job!

  • This is the best vdeo work I've seen! Great job! & thanks for sharing!!!!!

  • AWESOME video and quite simply one of the best I've seen anywhere on 'the tube'. THANK YOU for this labour of love.

  • I think this is the first google add I could not remove.

  • This stands as one of the best AMV videos on youtube.

  • I have the Metropolis DVD and the Electric Light Orchestra's album Time. To say this video is a labor of love is an understatement. Masterful editing and timing throughout. Great job mixing the anime and music so the whole thing fits. I'll never be able to view Metropolis the same again, and that's definitely a good thing. =)

  • This is my most favorite anime film. The story is excellent, the characters are fantastic, and the graphics (CG and all) were purely phenomenal. This video, "Metropolis: Center of the Sun" and the vid using 'Silicon Girl,' were three reasons why 2006 was a great year for me.

  • i feel that this should have been the video for this song al the power and emotion rings true in this song and in the video

  • B E A T I F U L C L I P

  • メトロポリス懐かしい

  • Love editing and imagery.

  • gr8 video editing

  • JEFF LYNNE ---->>> mastermind, genius

  • i sure do miss the boys of ELO i miss the fun and the synth i miss the heart and soul and the good times these songs remind me of in my past i miss ELO

  • Nice job! ^^

  • This is absolutely incredible. The best quality AMV I've ever seen hands-down.

  • At around 5:25, with the introduction of 1095, pure genius!

  • Wow I'm impressed with myself. I looked at the thumbnail on YouTube and thought, "That looks like Metropolis." And OMG wow I was right. One of the few anime movies I have absolutely no regrets buying.

  • Two words:

    Simply Brilliant! =)

  • So good! Anyone play Ikaruga? The low robotic voice throughout these songs, and especially in the beginning of Prologue sounds just like it.

  • I feel really bad for the kid. If you lissen really carefully to the music and watch the video you can make out what they're talking about. Imagine being in the kids place and ask yourself: what emotions would you feel?

  • This is really good. At last a video of this kind, where the scenes actually matter.

    Brilliant

  • Of the hundreds of AMVs I have seen, this one is easily one of the top 5, possibly THE best. Perfect timing, lip synch, context, and inventive effects... epic AMV hall of fame

  • What an excellent rendition to the movie Metropolis. I loved the movie and this fits so perfectly as one of those videos for the music stations. This is of course is also a redone movie of the old classic to Fritz Langs orginal move back in 1921. But this song gave the move such bright life and despair at the same time. One of the best rendered videos in such a long time.

  • This is made of pure win with a dash of awsome! I've always liked ELO. Sadly, I have not yet seen Metropolis.

  • very nice job....elo was ahead of their times....

  • There are very few AMVs that I actually like. This is one of them.

  • what movie the name of the movie can someone please tell me

  • will someone tell me what they say between twilight and yous truly when i mhear footsteps and singing in distance

  • I can't find the words to discribe it ,

Only KUDOS to whoever put this together , the amount of work must have

    been mind boggling

  • I can but agree with "farnsworthsa"

10/10 mate...good to hear the Prologue again.

    10/10 mate....smashing animation.

  • kocham to :)

  • yes yes well done on this video

  • OMG Perfect sinchronization!!!

this video its awesome!!! 5 out of 5

many thanks for put one of my fav anime movies on my fav song!!!!

I love this album of ELO!!!!

    T.T its WONDERFUL!!!

  • I love this ELO album, TIME. Very well put together on this video on these two songs. Thank you, thank you! You are brilliant!

  • Awesome, awesome video! Thanks for sharing my favorite two songs as is.

  • it reminds me of metropolis from v 1920s, even now it blows nme away how realistic metro has become in v new milenium- some very clever n imaginative peoples around- even 100yrs ago. wonder if it influenced jeff lynne?

  • first time ive seen it, is this someones creation???, i was 16 when time was released, n yet it somehow to me anyway doesnt seem dated suprisingly, i can iimagine it as if it was released last year. in this song i heard words like ibm which were foreign at v 'time', a decade later i relaised how futuristic it was back in 80 when writen. welcome aboard gen y, surely thers good music now 2 put ur time into, rich.

  • First time of watching, many thanks for the time, effort, care and attention to detail. You have a gifted tallent. It will stillbe worth watching in10, 20+ years.

  • DAIC...!!! Whatever, great video XD

  • I'm 13 and I love ELO!

  • Good work! This is the beginning to my favorite album of all time! Thanks for putting it into a very epic/epileptic format!

  • It's awesome! Thank you for sticking with it!

  • Could your vision here be a glimps of mankind's future? Technology iz a powerfull tool... In The wrong hands. did you know nostrodamas visions were seen in his head as "very colourful but not real as if drawn or animated...Hummm. Well done my friend... well done.

  • You really have a talent for creating great and timeless works. Thank you.

    Greetings from Poland :)

  • yb3000 you are a class act for making this video of one of the rarest band of 70's

  • you made ELO shine in this video. Good job.

  • The art, both the movie and the music, are not yours.

However, the way you skillfully meshed both into one profound and beautiful display makes it clear that you are also a wonderful artist.

  • Very well synced! I loved the lipsyncing-and I'm not an anime fan.

  • WoW! I can tell alot of work was put into this!! Great Job!!

  • speechless... my all time favorite song is twilight form ELO Jeff lynne is the best.

    the video is simply awesome!!

    12/10!!!

  • 2:29-2:34 A slight mistake, the dissolve affected the boy singing then dissapeared. Everything else is good. Very good amv.

  • I saw the live version of this. A robot roams the stage and finally centers and blast a bright beam across the audience.

This was awesome technology back then.

  • I'm speechless. You're very talented. I'm not easily impressed, but this blew my socks off. Very nice, man...

  • Just AMAZING!!! well done .just one negatif point:the quality of the picture

Positif point : download it ,put it on ur dvd player then put the original E.L.O cd (Time) ,synchronised it then FULL BLAST!!! WHOAAAAAAAAAAAAA

  • DAIC... uh, I've said it so much that it has lost meaning...

  • excellent production values... you clearly spent a lot of time perfecting this, and I respect that. I just don't think I see what Metropolis has to do with "Time" by E.L.O. They're both excellent, but I don't see the connection. But this certainly isn't another Naruto video with Linkin Park music. That's for sure.

  • Seriously? It's not a perfect match, but the story in the song is about a guy who meets a robot version of his lover, yet longs for the original version. Line by line, the song is a pretty good companion piece to the movie.

  • well that goes toward Yours Truly 2095, sure. I suppose after listening to this record for 28 years I have build up my own interpretation of Prologue and Twilight. Just thought I would let you know one viewer's experience of watching the video.

  • Comment removed

  • Well done! Definitely ranks up there with Daicon IV video.

  • Man... still one of the best AMVs I've ever seen. ^^

  • Awesome. Amazing. Spectacular. I wish I had half the talent that you have in just your little finger. An incredible piece of art. 10 zillion kudos to you.
