He once signed the inside of my hat, so I could keep his music on my mind. Gave the hat to a hairless friend one winter, but never gave away my appreciation for Bob and his musical goals. Bob is a beast there is no other way to put it. He loves his fills and frills, but that's his style and I respect the heck out of it.

Besides, in live performaces I'm pretty sure the greats from times past played up to the audience and pulled out tricks from their bags when they wanted a certain reaction from the crowd.

Mr. Brozman does his thing and does it very well as far as I'm concerned.

you are aware that many great blues musicians, for example, blind boy fuller did not just play only blues right? He had as many tricks in his bag (if not more) than Brozman. He puts many styles into his playing and thats why I recognize him as one of my favorite slide guitarists. I have never heard anyone play guitar like him. That alone says something. Technical or not, Brozman is a beast.

I am not a blues purist, I listen a lot to bands like Them, Jeff Beck Group or I appreciate Captain Beefheart'/s vision of blues.

In my opinion that passion is often what drives a person to become so skilled at his or her instrument, Steve Vai is clearly passionate and dedicated to his music and I think he has a lot of feeling he just happens to be interested in the more technical side too. But hey,its all subjective, sometimes I think maths is art and musicians are atheletes, a chair is a tree...and Im really high. =)
