I personally don't understand the hatred and venom with which so many people want to 'unite' Ireland. I'm a Scot and would have an independent Scotland tomorrow if I could. But if the majority of my fellow countrymen votes against it and wish to stay part of the union then so be it. Just as the N.I. wish to stay British who has the right to tell them other wise? Britain needed supplies from Ireland to fuel the industrial revolution, so they took all the food away from Ireland. Meanwhile, the poor folk in Ireland did not have any food and often had to watch as food was being shipped off to England. Also, this was while the Irish were still under the Act of Union and did not have freedom from Britain.

Britain needed supplies from Ireland to fuel the industrial revolution, so they took all the food away from Ireland. Meanwhile, the poor folk in Ireland did not have any food and often had to watch as food was being shipped off to England. Also, this was while the Irish were still under the Act of Union and did not have freedom from Britain.
