How do you judge art anyway its a good version and yeah its Xiu Xiu covering Joy Division that's a bunch a levels of weird unto itself, in a great way. And again Xiu Xiu is experimental rock band so a different sounding version is going to come out it won't be Ian up there singing. Man would that be cool!
honestly though, a horrible cover, we all love Joy Division and New Order (and Xiu Xiu) but can't we dislike a mediocre cover? Not everything in ode to Ian Curtis should be looked upon as gold
Well, Psyche and Xiu Xiu, one considers, sincere and empathetic bands. Both treat the covers with an honestsy and uniqueness (Disorder, Ceremony, Fat Cars, Goodbye Horses) rarely found. Both these bands deserve a leg-up. Unfortnuately, Lards at the crux melt.
i saw this live and it was pretty amazing. i'm really put off by them most of the time, but the show was good on the whole and this cover was by far the best thing they did
This splendid band, is, undoubtedly, the best at "covering" this song. It is sincere and empathetic - I wish the band all the best and humbled thanks.
meh, some people can't take the amount of energy Jamie&co. put into the songs. I know some people that can't really get into Xiu Xiu because of the way Jamie sings - They find it too gruesome.

Cover versions are not meant to sound like the artists, they are essentially meant to be another artists interpretation of the song, and I'm all for them but in saying that this is SHITE!
personally i don't get the emotional delivery at all. i think new orders original 7" version is the best there will ever be and i think anyone who tries to cover it has made a bad decision, because it's impossible to improve on.
This cover is fucking amazing. Xiu Xiu definitely takes it to another level. They push there abilities to the very limit of what they can do which shows true effort. They are fearless!
I couldn't disagree more. Radiohead's cover is good but the band doesn't make it their own. Jamie Stewart takes the song to the limit. Listen to the vocal delivery, the buzzing synths, the bells and chime, the emotion...it's fantastic.
Well, I guess it just comes down to what you like. I'm not too into the indie synth pop stuff , which is why I like Radiohead's version, it's very direct and very raw.
You can't Xiu Xiu and not like this. Pure gold. Amazing cover. Jamie's voice fits perfectly.
