@mattkd100 Hmm you dont NEED, but you definitely need to know some locations, like where the 1UPs are, or the potions. I beat it as a kid with my brother, we didn't have a map back then, we just played and played learning where to go and where not to until we managed to beat it. But yeah I have played this a lot, now I know most stuff by memory, I haven't completed GnG but I should if I tried, check kareshi for that :) Also this is a hack, didn't have it memorized, read the descriptions.

He basically changed the levels from the original.

The game will only permit a few enemies on the screen at a time(four, I think), any more could slow down the SNES to a crawl. So, by keeping four easy enemies on the screen, you can avoid hard enemies from appearing. Also, you can prohibit the tourist victims from becoming werewolves or prohibit a monster from spawning next to a victim in later levels using this technique.
