I had always known that joe satch taught steve vai but even though joe satriani tought steve vai, he didn't teach him everything. I can honestly say that what ever joe taught steve, steve has most definitely surpassed him by far. Jeff Beck, sorry. I used to love you (the most), but you have been FAR surpassed. The real answer why he is sitting down is that when he wrote the song, he practiced the solo over and over sitting down in the studio and he is used to playing it in the sitting position. He just cannot seem to play it perfect standing up. It was a bit of a mistake on his part perfecting the solo only on a sit down postion.
