i love this video so much. i am so proud to be a jew and this man really showed me that hitler didn't win! your grandpa is an amazing person that will never be forgotten! i am so happy to say that over 55,000 people were able to take 13 minutes out of their lives for something this special. God bless him and his family forever!
What an amazing story, and an amazing man. May God bless him and his family forever.
The horror of the Holocaust must never be forgotten, and stories like this let us know that people survive and flourish. I am not Jewish but know we must never forget, and we must embrace all people with tolerance and love. After all, God made us in a rainbow of colors and beliefs, and if it is good in His eyes, it should be good in ours.
Thank you for sharing such an amazing story with us. I am proud to be Jewish.I admire your courage and may G-D bless you with all good things in life.
I watched this with my 13 year old son. We were both moved by it. This was a wonderful story explaining the horror but also the strength of this Jewish person. Thank you
thank you so much for such a beautiful video. How lucky you are and also he is. I skydived two years ago at 70 to prove that I am still around, but it wasn't for Hitler, but the ugly Jew Haters still in this world of ours. We will survive no matter what they preach. May Hashem Bless you and your family forever B
It is a testament to being proud of your faith... my father was a survivor and whenever my kids confronted me with disbelief of their faith .. I simply articulate if after what your grandfather went thru he can keep the faith .. then out of respect you too must ... now they are older .. my daughter respects the faith and my son is studying in Yeshiva in Israel ..
This is a wonderful video and an important testimony to all Survivors. My mother is a Holocaust survivor and I wrote and published a novel based on her survival, In the Face of Evil which has just been honored as a Finalist in the National Jewish Book Awards. You and I have ensured that the world will never forget! Bravo and warm regards to your grandfather! I look forward to seeing him parachute again.
thank you so much for sharing this heartwarming story about your grandfather. my mother in law was a holocaust survivor but her father did not make it. so sad to think about all of those lives that were lost. i am also proud to be a jew and remind my kids how important it is to keep these stories alive.
I have tears in my eyes and a smile on my face. This man is really a hero with a wonderful grandson. His grandson was right when he said that his grandfather is his best friend. He is so lucky that his grandfather survived. Mine was murdered by the Germans.
Hitler never skydived, had grandkids, lived in America or many other things that you did. Congratulations and may your grandfather live many more years of happiness.
I know Gary and he is really amazing. Hitler could not destroy the Jewish spirit and will. I recently visited Israel. The Jewish people didn't just survive, they celebrate life. everyone should see what they have accomplished. Keep soaring Gary and blessings to your family.
I, too, am the child of Holocaust Survivors. I smiled, I cried, but most of all, I was touched by your grandfather's positive outlook. My father is 85 as well, and was liberated from Buchenwald on April 11 All I can say is "WOW" your grandfather is an amazing man. I often think that my father too does things to try to "recapture" somehow his youth which was stolen from him.
May G-d grant him many more exciting adventures.... lots of good health and to be surrounded by his loving family.
@preppy1953 Please send me an emai with your father's contact information to BryanMWass@yahoo.com. Maybe we can connect your father and my grandfather! Thank you very much! I'm so glad you enjoyed the video and please continue to share it with all your family and friends!
Avraham Avinu, Moshe Rabbenu, Joshua, Deborah, Judah Maccabee, Rabbi Akiva, Judah Maccabee, Jonathan Netanyahu, Gary Lenzer and many others, all heroes of the Jewish People.
Just a wonderful, uplifting video. Your grandpa is amazing and you are so lucky to have him.....and him you. The strength and fortitude of Jes is amazing!
Thank you to all who have watched, commented, and shared this link!! I can't believe that in just over a month we have 20,000 hits. Please continue to share it with others!! Gary's story is a very important story that needs to be shared with the world to make sure that we Never Forget!!
@JoshFriedmanMusic - What a wonderful story. I hope he gets to jump again in four and a half years. The defiance is spectacular - I had the same feeling of pride when the Israeli air force flew over Berlin in a Star-of-David flight formation. Your work documenting his story is important as well. With so many Holocaust deniers out there its good to have the evidence preserved so mankind does not ever repeat this history again. Im glad to see all the positive feedback! Amen brother!!!!!!
@captainjman1976 Thank you so much for the kind words. I can't explain how happy I am to know that his story is reaching so many people throughout the world! Thank you for watching it, and please help us to share it with the world!
We must tell and retell our story forever. This video told it in a way that was beautiful, warm, compelling and inspirational. Gary, your courage and resilience are so amazing. I'm so sorry for the horrors and atrocities you endured and witnessed. Despite what happened to you, you chose love, and your legacy is your incredible family thru whom you will live forever. Mazel tov!
Thank you Gary for sharing your Zeyda with the rest of the world. God bless you and your family always! Ich kvell fer der Zayda, azay mench! Du bist alla a mench! Zie gazient!
This is a beautiful story & so very well told. Wonderful video. Thanks for sharing this. I also have a friend, Paul Tuliano, who sky dives. He is 86 years old. He has gone twice & is planning another trip with his son & grandson. He is not a Holocaust survivor.
This definitely personifies what we say every year at the Passover Seder: "Ela sheb'chol dor vador, omdim aleinu l'chaloteinu, v'HaKadosh Baruch Hu matzileinu miyadam." It means, "Yet in every generation, people rise up against us to utterly destroy us, but the Holy Blessed One rescues us from their hands."
What a specail grandfaather Gary Lenzner is. It is small wonder that his grandson is so proud of him.Hearing the story directly from the survivor made it so much more powerful. His command of the English language is unabelieveable. His strength and courage mind boggling..
I visited Buchenwald several years ago. It was difficult then, to imagine what occurred at Buchenwald. This is an amazing story, thank you for sharing.
@bryanmwass My father is an Auschwitz survivor. He turned 90 last month. He is and will forever be my hero. I'm sure your grandfather would agree that the courage to skydive a thousand times pales in comparison to that of surviving a single day of nazi cruelty. Although I doubt my father will ever jump out of an airplane, his spirit will soar for eternity as will your grandfather's. With love and admiration... Steven
Loved this heart warming treasure depicting a strong human spirit. I have volunteered the past two years at our local Cafe Europa here in Florida that honors and remembers those survivors that are still alive and their families. I have always felt that these survivors are exceptional people who are true heroes.
Simply wonderful - how very uplifting to celebrate LIFE and TRIUMPH over the hardships of his youth - may you live till hundred and twenty in good health, dear Gary
I just became a docent at the Florida Holocaust Museum and after watching your video, I can
truly see my purpose in life. To convey your message and story to the 1000s of school children that go through the museum daily would be my honor. Thank you for telling your story. You are a true hero in every sense of the word.
@bryanmwass This is truly an amazing story of love, Bryan. Thank you for sharing it and for taking your Grandpa Gary skydiving. You are a real mentsch.
@DomIsTheBombb I'm so sorry. I honestly don't know why I snapped like that! I sometimes forget that I'm not his only grandkid! I truly hope you enjoyed the video and I hope you continue to share this with your family and friends! Keep up the Spanish and listen to your teacher...she's a very nice person!
I love this video. Thank you so much for reminding me how proud I am to be a Jew. Best to you and your family! Your grandpa is a true hero and survivor. Hitler is in hell where he belongs.
