I totally agree, his Don Giovanni is like silk and velvet or like a soft waving curtain.

My favorite recording -with Gueden, Corena and della Casa, Krips conducting from 1958- wonderful!

MUCH better than Abaddo's recording with Schafer and Simon Keenlyside. This sounds like butter. Schafer's singing is monotonous and a tiny bit harsh as she goes up the register.

Just two words to describe this rendition: absolutely charming! Two wonderful and much loved singers in a very relaxed and genteel performance. It's so nice to see that the finest Don Giovanni of the century can be such a charmer at age sixty-two and Freni and her dimples are just perfect as Zerlina. The audience should consider itself lucky to have been witness to such a master class of stylish and polished singing. Thanks for posting!

Yes, this is undoubtedly so. What is particularly admirable, is the intact, well maintained voice Siepi had in such an advance age. By this point all the training, and decades of experience was well burnished-in to the point of assurance, that it allowed both singers to spontaniously enjoy themselves, while they were creating harmony and beauty.
