June is amazing. Hers and Sutherland's (duh) are the two of the best Lucias.

That production was amazing. And I could not believe how Ms Anderson was so relax for her sing while she was climbing over this immense and high structure. Awesome!!

I found this old excerpted review of June in Lucia from 1997 (Milan) that I thought applies well here: "Dans la scène de folie, elle tourne résolument le dos à l'oiseau mécanique, récemment illustré par les Mariella Devia, Luciana Serra et autres coloratures étrangères à ce type de vocalità, pour intégrer, telle Callas, la moindre cadence à un contexte dramatique où chant, geste et expression ne font plus qu'un."

Love June in this role above almost all others. Saw her in the disastrous Francesca Zambello production of Lucia at the Met a few years before this. Would have given anything to see her in Paris.

I saw her in Paris in this production, and you really can't tell from the video but that large pyramid structure in the middle of the stage is LARGE. I couldn't believe it when she started climbing up it during the mad scene. I give her a lot of credit for putting up with this production.
