  • starfish dont mate they regenerate lost limbs.!

  • that's how starfish mate

  • Brilliant video.. Now I know its time to get off youtube!

  • are they havng sex -_- ?

  • my favorite part was when it didn't split

  • Looks like two stars. One overlapping the other. I think this type does fragment though.

  • thats just popcorn in water!

  • no its asterina stars you idiots

  • I see a " :P " on it..

  • this is weird.i know it is.this is getting stupid.its a banana.

  • Sliced bits of dried banana anyone?

  • it didnt split tithead

  • Who has 2 min. And 55s to tape nothin ?!?

  • this looks like a bannana

  • fake sea stars have 5 arm things

  • @futuregamedesiner sea stars can have way more than 5 arms. Some have more than 20.

  • reproduction

  • I would have to say this is probably two sea stars mating

  • its like watching grass grow

  • its those asterina stars that hitchhike in live rock

  • this video has a problem, I get to 0:39 and it pauses its showing fully loaded but it just stops right there.

  • @Raydragonmaster Means your internet glitched. Happens to me all the time.

  • it looks fake

  • this certain kind of starfish really does split or drop lets and to reproduce.. the legs then turn into another starfish.. i honestly didnt know it could drop 3 though like this video.. may be possible

  • awwwwww , <3

  • Asteriid star

  • It's not fake I have seen 1 of these in my aquarium ( I had no idea what it was but saw it looked like a starfish) and it was on the glass, tiny like 3-5 mm, musta been a hitchhiker, cool so it is a sand sifting star?

  • its a sand sifting starfish splitting, they do that.

  • never knew they did that.. why exactly do they split i thot they breed?

  • They're small but don't bother zoanthids / soft corals. They're good scavengers. I just had one with six arms split in two today.

  • i dont see it splitting

  • if there tiny they eat zoanthids the coral and i dont think a starfish could split but ok? u saw it i didn't so you know what happened cuz i didn't see it very well

  • Go little asterisk starfish(s), go. Any time now. B(

  • Its an asterina star

  • so is splitting like "multiplying"?

  • splitting in thsi case is asexual reproduction

  • Yes,

  • Comment removed

  • 2:56 sorry for fixing it but it is true.

  • what do you mean by "splitting" ?

  • for some reason i think this is fake. and that is probably an ingeniously carved slice of banana..

  • no. asterina stars do reproduce by splitting themselfs in half

  • @XiaoNoodles y wud he video tape sumthing fake?

  • @XiaoNoodles No.

i`v seen these before. they are tiny and reproduce using fission.

i have observed whole tanks full of these things.

  • @XiaoNoodles Nope, this is legit. These starfish get probably only a cm in diameter. Very small guys. And probably split hundreds of time throughout their life.

  • why didnt you show when it seperated?

  • how does this happen

  • Umm Well when a mommy star fish loves...... ok it happens when they are polipes they latch onto something or just go free will and they grow slitly mature then make copies of itself and disconnects its really intresting and is the same way i think... box jellyfish are made too.
