@mitxelus Honestly, after having seen Emilia Clark in the role, she is the perfect choice for Daenerys. I've seen Tamzin Merchant in other roles on TV before and unfortunately she lacks a strong screen presence which I think is incredibly important for Dany that Emilia brings to the role.

Jennifer Ehle was replaced by Michelle Fairley as Catelyn Stark, and Tamzin Merchant was replaced by Emilia Clarke as Daeneyrs Targaryen.

I really like the image of Catelyn Stark that Michelle Fairley creates. I don't like that after so much of the plot (7 episodes) you don't get to "feel" which of the characters ar worth to pay more attention. I really don't like the image of Bran Stark in the HBO series. Maybe because most of his season 1 action is in his struggling and dreams. Anyway the book is awesome. The series is the best that anyone could make.

@musicianman4u I love the Lannisters. They make the tale for me. Without the Lannisters, A Song of Ice and Fire isn't that different from other fantasy novels. In Jaime, and to a lesser extent, Cersei, you have an absolutely hateful monster of a human being who you later end up empathising with to some extent, the more you are exposed to their perspective, and are able to comprehend their complex motivations... "The things I do for love."

Jaime on the other hand I did end up sympathizing with and I enjoy his character. But Cersei....no, don't get me started. Cersei is the reason everything bad happened in the series. If Robert hadn't married her nothing near as bad would've happened and all the good characters who got killed in bad ways would still be alive.

I really like the image of Catelyn Stark that Michelle Fairley creates. I don't like that after so much of the plot (7 episodes) you don't get to "feel" which of the characters ar worth to pay more attention. I really don't like the image of Bran Stark in the HBO series. Maybe because most of his season 1 action is in his struggling and dreams. Anyway the book is awesome. The series is the best that anyone could make.

Tyrion Lannister, the reason why I read this series, the other characters are still very very real and George can make us HATE characters one part of the book and feel so sorry for them later. EXCELLENT MOVE TO TURN IT INTO AN HBO SERIES!!!!!!!
