I love watching DEVO interviews. Merv was good/cordial the band (which brings out the spuds sexy smiles cuz they"re some what at ease). Some interviewers are lame or rude and most fail to do their homework on the interviewee. This the first time I got a good look at young Bob #1, who knew was quite cute. I find their choreography hypnotically sexy.
Even 30+ years later you can honestly say no one ever looked like DEVO. Totally original, left of center look, performance and a great catalog of electronic pop tunes.
Clearly lipsynched--which might not have been a bad idea for their concerts because its subversive--but its embarrassing watching old Merv and his bad eyejob trying to be hip.
abcmon: No apologies necessary -- wherever you found this, it's a real treasure. Thank you so very much for posting it. Given the video quality, it IS hard to tell if lip-synching's going on, etc., but I think it shows how truly amazing they were at that point in their career. Amazing.
CCB: I agree. "A bit of a fanny," huh? Now THAT's funny. My buddy and I used to get stoned, turn down the volume on the teevee, and make up lines for him as he was talking. Ours were funnier and better delivered.
