This song is perfectly made for Tim. The whole album sounds better with him. Tim and Barlow are representing two different periods in IE history and both are filled with great music. Well see IW in the future. Hope they wont became a underground band.

Yeah I dunno, Matt's voice is certainly the voice of IE hands down, but I still don't prefer it. The way he ends his words is sometimes remiscent of 90's James Hetlfield which can be irritating.

I've heard the new stuff and I've heard Glorious Burden and Framing Armageddon. I still say that Matt is better. While Tim is a great singer, I can't count the number of videos where he's just subpar. I think he kicked ass with Priest, but he's not right for Iced Earth. On the other hand, Matt made Setian Massacre sound fucking brutal. The Clouding is a masterpiece with Matt. I'm not too enthused about I Walk Alone, but it's not Matt's fault. The writing was just sort of subpar.

The situation should have been handled better on Jon's part. He fired Tim about 2 weeks before Christmas by email. Tim found out he was fired about 10 minutes before the news was on Blabbermouth. Jon showed no class whatsoever.

But Matt is back and we can all look forward to the new IE , and Beyond Fear stuff.

This (or any) live performance of this song is not up to par with the studio version (wich is awesome). That is the biggest problem with Tim, and the biggest advantage of Matt over him, still i dont see him singing this song, it just wont fit his voice. Long life for both.

He does an amazing job based on how much input he's allowed to have Matt on the other hand wrote his lyrics and had input on songs. Of course one is going to have passion if they feel they are part of the team Technically Tim can run circles around Matt but may not be better for this band I prefer Tims voice to Matts but can't stand John's stagnant writing style. I think Jon should be fired

I agree that Jon is the band,thats the problem. He needs to let other people write for the band. The recent stuff Iced Earth is doing musically has been done in the past by other bands much better. Its boring, and can only attract people that are new to the metal scene or like to listen to 3 same songs over and over. Im glad Tim is gone as his side band, Beyond Fear is 10 times better than recent Iced Earth. I hope Matt comes back pissed from his security job and writes some heavy shit.

You have a valid point , in that Tim didnt write this stuff, so it would make it insanely difficult to sing it with the passion we all expect.

Tim cannot run circles around Matt vocally , lets see Tim sing Dante's Inferno , or Damien.

I agree that Matt with his lower range would sound much better on those songs but Tim could easily hit the notes. My point is that Tim could run circles around Matt "TECHNICALLY". Meaning he could hit a higher note for longer do better vocal runs etc. Look at it the other way around, Matt replacing Tim in beyond fear, Matt would embarrass himself quite badly. I do agree that Iced Earth sounded much better with Matt. Lets hope they have the songwriting to back up the "passion" everyone expects.

From listening to Tim sing live on some of the old Iced Earth tunes like Dracula , and Melancholy , Tim couldnt hit the low notes with ease. He sounded nasal. It is just outside his range , like the high stuff is out of Barlow's range , they both sound awkward in those situations.

Hopefully this works out for the best for both singers , though it would be cool to hear a combo track with Owens and Barlow on vocals.

i dont think owens is a bad singer at all. i think he got screwed throughout his whole music career because he was a replacement for two of the greatest metal singers of all time. on a lot of the old songs i much prefer Barlows voice but the new songs fit with Tim very nicely, that shows you how talented Jon is with writing the songs, i am tired of people bashing Owens when i guarntee he can sing better then any of the people that insult him

I'm sure Matt Barlow was good. But this band caught my attention with Tim. His vocals rip and you cannot deny it. Tim has proved himself as a strong Heavy Metal vocalist. I didn't really have interest in this band before Tim. I think the band was known more for John's heavy guitar riffs.

Admittedly, their original singer on the first album was horrible, and so Jon was the one who put them on the map, but without a doubt, Matt was the factor that pushed them to the status they achieved. I can honestly say I have never heard a bad recording of him. He just defies words with the power he put into the band.

Ripper is an acquired taste. I like a few songs on the new album, and everything except The Coming Curse on the Overture EP.

I totally agree with your comment on Owens. He's a bit like Udo Dirksnieder, in the sense that people either love or hate his voice. There isn't much middle ground. Both are talented singers, but it will be nice to have Barlow back. Personally, I think his voice suits their style a bit better.

Iced Earth was defiantly the better between them and In Flames (although they rocked also). i have to say Owens vocals were amazing, rocked even without Barlow. on one side not i think Owens might need some new moves the shadow boxing is kind of cheesy =]

Does anyone else get annoyed with Owens' incessant vibrato he puts on every word he sings? Honestly, all he ever does is quaver his voice, and don't get me started on how atrocious he sounds when he sings in a ballad-type voice. He's truly overrated.
