Just think. That's the exact sound Doolittle's B-25 crews heard when they took off from the carrier Hornet (with a, uh, slightly shorter distance to V1) in 1942.
@yamahonkawazuki Yea..I love the sound of these old birds, especially the warm-ups and Take offs, brings me back to an earlier time, when B-36's roamed the skys with a roar loud enough to rattle the window-panes
Thanks for sharing!! Such an awesome plane! I love WWII planes, they are absolutely cool and amazing. If they could talk I know they would have stories to tell.
That's correct, amen to the men who risked so much to save us and the many generations that follow. They are true hero's and deserve the absolute best respect forever and always.
thanks for this vid, and than god you had a good camera with good sound recording, you can hear the real awesomeness of the engines. I got to go in one of these when they were fixing the engine(and ran it up to test it) I didnot have headphones and it was the LOUDEST OF LOUD, my ears hurt, but it was AWESOME
My dad was a B-25 pilot. That distinctive "chatter" of those glorious Pratt & Whitneys is music. Anyone who's been around 'em knows. I'll always remember the symphony of a B-25 while warming up or under full throttle. Love 'em!
arbitar, she didn't fly during Pearl harbor but, shortly after 16 flew off a carrier to fly 30 seconds over Tokyo. This changed the entire strategy of the Japanese plan to sink our fleet in WW2.
I love those ww2 planes just wish i could fly them.Wanted to be a ww2 pilot since i can remeber.God bless those who fought to save us all during that time.
I flew in that plane when it was at an airshow here in my hometown. It cost $200 bucks but it was well worth it! That's actually pretty cheap to go up in an original WWII aircraft like that though.
they had this plane at or fathers day air show this year and the price has gone to 350 for a ride but they were letting people sit in the turrets and take pictures and stuff for free i did that
Nothing against the B-24. I just don't even remember what it was called:(
I think the B-25 was/is so popular is because of Doolittle (and because it's such a cool airplane. Yeehah!). The 26 was the Maurader. That was like the 25 only rounder. And they called it the WidowMaker because it wasn't very nice to pilots. At least that's what I heard.
There are only 2 b-24's flying(Diamond Lil & Witchcraft), around 12-14 b-17's, and believe it or not prolly at least 20 b-25's they're not as rare as youd think.
You don't know how cool this is! I have sat in that same bubble of that same airplane when I was a kid. Pacific Prowler used to be the Tallmantz camera plane N1042B, I think. Of course, it had a big camera nose and tail on it, but still. Brings back some good memories. Thanks!

Only B-24 known to be flying was Collings Foundation's 'Witchcraft', unless Diamond Lil's the latest addition.

B-24 was called the Liberator. So many were made that it earned the nickname 'Cheaper by the dozen'.
