Natalie Portman 'said' she danced and did about '85%' of the dancing herself, according to Sarah Lane, the ballerina double in Black Swan. She mislead people purposely to think she actually did most of the dancing. That's unethical. And who knows how much of the engagement news, pregnancy news, lesbian scene and her 'dancing performance' as a ballerina contributed to her Oscar win....That's not good acting that's just putting all the right variables together.

I think this film is like cat people for the thicker generation, which is fine, i'm actually learning to deal with it. Most people haven't grown up watching bravo, sci-fi movies like swamp thing etc so I can undersatnd how this sort of Bmovie has an allure for those that are on a diet of films like inception, 21 century MTV, Gossip girl and things alike. 4u this is something new and seductive. For Natalie's sake though I hope she doesn't win so it'll force her to be less of an uptight actress.

alright a lot of people criticized this movie saying that it was completely unlike the "real" world of ballet but well i disagree. obv they made it more dramatic but as a ballet dancer, i used to have a really intense teacher who played favorites (not as obv but you could tell) which made the girls competitive and bitchy (behind your back of course), i struggled with my weight and body bc there was always someone who was skinnier or better at something so yeah it was stressful but i loved it.

I used to like Portman; I am so disappointed now. It's quite amazing how both Aronofsky and Portman trivialized ballet for the sake of selling a badly made/produced film that does not refleCt the reality of ballet AT ALL. Just disgusting.

@LuKasAV6 for a film to be considered cult, it had to be unrecognized at its release eg. Donnie Darko, Fight Club. Black Swan was extremely successful and well received on its release thus, just making it a very good film (or instant classic) rather than a cult film.
