I'm so glad that I have this on dvd al;ong with The Snowman. This has always been my favourite ever since I was a little kid. I watch this every christmas along with the original How The Grinch Stole Christmas and Yogi's First Christmas.

Had this on VHS and bought the dvd only to find they'd taken Mel's voice out and all the references to alcohol! They didn't even let him do any complaining. When the grass was overgrown he said "I'll soon have this sorted out."

I like this special very much and it's one of my favourites, but is this the original British version? At what would be 4:35, in the American version, there's some guy on the plane speaking saying it's someone who looks like Santa. It sounds like some guy with a New York accent.

is wonderin if any1 knws an old kids film where i think father xmas has a little girl with him ( old tv colour), they go to the seaside and use ice lollies as flags and the little girl dresses up as a princess and thn later on in the film the old guy dies at the end ad for sum reason there is a giant caterpillar in it

This sounds like the original version that was released. There was a later version that had a re-dubbed voice of Santa that many viewers disliked.
