I'm from England and i watched this fight back in the day and thought it was one of the most brutal matches i've ever seen. I'm a boxer myself and I hope that I never have to endure that kind of punishment but at the same time I would make sure not to hurt somebody else badly if I see the person has nothing left. Thats why you'll occasionally see the odd fighter who goes to the body when he has an opponent hurt. Thats what I used to do in sparring.
Martin Rogan and Tyson Fury have recently abstained from hitting a guy when he was badly hurt, which is a great showing of sportsmanship. Unfortunately it cost Rogan his title, but there you go.

not to take anything away from benn, but geralds condition isnt because of benns power. there have been fighters that have taken way more punishment and have gone on to fight. tyson has ko'ed guys in a more brutal fashion, and none of them have gotten hurt like gerald did. if u look at the final round, the last few punches from benn that ended the fight werent that devastating. again not to take anything away from benn. he was great that night!
