I would wait every single week for Casey Kasem to play this song on his countdown show... I was such a poor child I didnt even have a cassette recorder back then!
Does anyone have a song by Kevin Paige called, 'Bang It Out'? It was featured in the film Honey we Shrunk ourselves and I've been looking for the song forever. Thanks
i too remember loving this song but i only had the cassette single. atfer reading all the comments listed here think im going to have to listen to the whole album!!:)
Hehehe I'm glad I just found this! I loved him back in the day! I went to itunes (I love itunes) and got the old album that I wore out a long time ago :) Wish I could go to Memphis to see...oh well.
Memphian Kevin Paige aimed for a mix of soul, urban contemporary, pop, and rock and achieved it through enthusiastic vocals and skillful production.
Unlike filler song artists of today, every song on this album oozes with ... quality will leave a positive impact in your mind. Paige has a strong voice here that dominates the pop numbers and the ballads. He also does his own rendition of
the sound is so similar to 'hot and sweaty' by Judson Spence, at least the 12 inch of H&S, or either the Judson Spence single is so similar to this...which came first? the chicken or the egg? good song here...and check out the aforementioned song, if you like this.
was perfect song n kevin.....good old hits not like today.....i was mad about this song...but still i am...good good song n video...kevin sing again this way !!!
for some inexplicable reason, this song popped into my head in the shower today and I haven't heard it in over 20 years. Something must have worked itself loose in my memory bank, or i'm beginning to go senile.
Dont hate!! Appreciate! Cheesy, one hit wonder, vocally challenged it dont matter..When the song came out we went crazy..us who like funky, something to dance to music.
there is a minor comparison to one song by GM here..(monkey)..vocally not much tho..There were a couple of others who used this space funk synthesizer technique (Judson Spence on "hot and sweaty" 1988 comes to mind..and he sounded kinda similar)
rarenight thank you soooo much for posting this. i love this song. wow i cant believe apart from me remembers it. i saved up my pockt money to buy the 12" single. i liked it so muh i bought the 7" as well. lol! thank you so much again....
I bought his CD when it first came out and I still have it. He was so talented I never understood why he didn't have a bigger career. It just goes to show the music business is crazy and even very talented people get left behind.
SKYSPORT22: Kevin Paige was signed to Chrysalis Records. This was 1990, and Chrysalis was on the way out; Kevin was pretty much one of the more talented rats on a quickly sinking ship. His career with Chrysalis was doomed from the start. He got NO promotion whatsoever out of them. Sad.
i actually went through two of his cassettes during a two year period. was totally in love with him and his music. just listened to it again, first time in 19 yrs and it brings up so many memories. wow.
Totally forgot about this singer and song until I just read that Paige co-wrote the new Jimmy Wayne song, "I'll Be That," which just debuted on the Hot Country Songs this week in the US.
BLACKLANNMUZIK1: I think you're hung up on the visual similarity to George.... because vocally, there's no comparison! Paige is in another category totally! I was a huge GM fan when this came out, and I never made that kind of connection in my mind. I knew then, as now, that Kevin Paige was unique!

All the 10 songs from his cd are simply amazing! Wish to hear more of his recent news.
