He's just protecting his company's back, remember he built up ryanair from a bankrupt state into a 250+ growing fleet in just 25 years. He will do anything to bring costs down and keep them there. £60 return is gutless and spineless but Ryanair manages much lower fares than that. The more profitable Ryanair becomes, the longer I can fford to fly with them, And my flying averages once a month with that company.

What a piece of shit. O'Leary needs to learn when to keep his fucking mouth shut. He's the driving force behind Ryanair's obnoxious service delivery.
He's backed down solely because he's bound by EU regs rather than facing potentially enormous law suits, and still in denial and talking shit.
I wouldn't ever travel by air unless I could afford to do so by a reputable carrier, and why should anyone permit themselves to be exploited by O'Leary?
