In many if not most states, Doctors of Chiropractic are granted primary care physician status. That is, they are literally the family doctor. Any person with any disease could walk into the office at any moment. It is the chiropractors responsibility to recognize and properly diagnose many illnesses. Failure to do so would be construed as malpractice. Insurance companies are not stupid, they know exactly what they are doing. The rates would never be this low if it were dangerous.
Is it true medical dr's have larger scopes of practice and deal with more seriously ill patients than chiropractors?? Maybe that is the reason for the higher malpractice rates.
Nope, malpractice insurance rates are detemined by risk and claims made on a particular type of care. Dispensing medications and performing surgery is risky behaviors with high proclivities for errors.
