  • For anyone with tickets for the reunion who are worried they are shit live, check out the new official video for Elephant Stone.

  • Got to be up there with the best tracks of all time. It's perfect.

I'm lucky enough to own it, funny how What The World Is Waiting For is on the cover. Lost the print somewhere down the line...

If anyone is going to the reunion gigs can they post here and tell us how good it was? Squire's art is amazing as ever these days so the programmes will be worth more than the ticket price alone.

Ian Brown was never in the Para's but funnily enough, Clint Boon was a grenade thrower in the S.A.S.

  • How many people realise that this song is about the Senior Brecon British Army Course? The lead singer of the Stone Roses was an ex-Para NCO- hence the reference to, "The back on my back is aching, the straps seem to cut me like a knife......." It's about Tabbing with a 100lb Bergen on Senior Brecon.

  • @LIVERPOOLSCOTTISH Sorry mate but you're way-off. No idea what the song is about, the lyrics certainly lens themselves to your theory however, Melody Maker stated that the band said it was about greed when they interviewed them years ago. One thing I am a thousand percent certain of though is Ian Brown was and never has been in the Paras. I'm ex 3 Para mate and I definitely know he hasn't been in...he's not even been in the forces let alone the Paras.

  • @DAW1968 Roger that. I was told he served in the Para's and he wrote 'Fools Gold,' as a result of having been on Senior Brecon. It was about the folly of seeking promotion that involved a significant increase in responsibility, for not a lot of extra cash. Perhaps I was given duff gen mate! SInce you served in the Maroon Machine, I will take your word for it! Pity though, I think it would have been great if it were true! Thanks for the heads up anyway :)

  • @LIVERPOOLSCOTTISH No worries mate, you're welcome, and I totally agree, great triv if it'd been true. I doubt Ian Brown could have coped with the clobber anyway, and he loves his Manc hair, lol! Are you a Red by the way? YNWA ;-)

  • The Roses are back!!! Everything is not lost!!!!

  • Still love this song.

  • This is the beat that's used for 'Unorthodox' by Wretch 32 and Example.

  • Every single day I listen to this song it gets better and better. People I have to hang with listen to kesha and selena gomez and beiber and bruno mars and all that other tosser shit. I talk about Stone Roses and Happy Mondays and such, and they make fun of it for being bland and tasteless.

  • Best British band since The Beatles and, in Reni, the best British drummer since Keith Moon-great to see a band with charisma and opinions at yesterday's press conference

  • @thenowuk Led Zeppelin and John Bonham. I am sorry Sir but you are wrong.

  • @Mikeisbored1990They're great too but I'm not 'wrong'-you happen to disagree. All subjective.

  • @thenowuk the rolling stones, led zeppelin, queen, iron maiden the cure sex pistols you could go on and on, i respect your opinion but come on..

  • @jordanmylesevans I'd take the roses first album over any of them,(it has a magic that I can't define,60's quality)-especially iron Maiden and The Cure! are you serious?I love The Stones 60's stuff and obviously Led Zep- it's all subjective I suppose

  • @jordanmylesevans ur a shit cunt

  • 1989, on a school trip to wales, i had a sony walkman that i had off my mate for the weekend. Made myself a " mix tape" this was the tip top tune as i glided through trees etc. this song is as good as or if not better than most of the drivel that is being churned out at the moment. . . . better than

  • 1 of my fav stones

  • To the fellow who talked about playing pool in an old pubs, etc: I was 16-19 during the height, and it was an awesome scene for a few years. Being Canadian, we were torn between what was going on in Manchester or what was going on in Seattle. Compared to what we get now, the rivalry was great because both scenes were pretty damned good, even if Nirvana got too big and The Roses imploded.

  • @Greggo2 excellent..i'm with you with that.. :)

  • @Greggo2 in my opinion the roses are better than nirvana, im a fan of both bands, but nirvan did get a little bit to mainstream by the end... the roses never went to that path and thats wy nirvana got bigger, hell i ask everyone, i ask everyone who is ian brown... they dont know, i ask who is kurt cobain, everyone knows, nirvana went to mainstream, as much as they wanted to stick to the underground way, the media haunted them.

  • @XpRzElmo I thought you meant "more guitarless computer shit" instead of "more guitar, less computer shit".
