What these artist need to realize when it comes to their album sales is.IF PEOPLE LIKE YOUR MUSIC,THEY WILL BUY YOUR ALBUM.IF THEY DONT LIKE YOUR MUSIC,THEY ARENT GOING TO BUY YOUR ALBUM! PERIOD. The music these artists are putting out is not worth people spending their hard earned money on.SIMPLE AS THAT.HIP HOP USED TO BE A LIFESTYLE,A WAY OF LIFE.THERE WAS AN ESSENCE THAT MADE U FEEL GOOD.IT WAS UPLIFTING AND RELATIBLE. When Biige, Pac, Big L and Big Pun died, thats' when hip hop died because no one came to continue on the good tradition of constantly putting godo music in the airwaves. Ha, I heard that too! But sometimes as a rapper, just to keep writin you know sometimes they/we just say the next thing that rhymes. Maybe it might make sense, maybe it might not to others. But the message is in there, take it how you perceive it. That's what makes you 'think'. I took it as him saying, "man, sometimes it's so hard in this life, things happen that seem like messages tellin me I ain't gonna make it to heaven". Maybe cause of his sins? @ThumbsUpMike Interestingly enough, Nas just had Lil W on that one cut "My Generation" and also interestingly enough it's one of my favorite Wayne verses where you can hear that he' ain't even talking about no club shit or flossing, he's talking about a real topic. @illegochild Nas used for publicity......to bring the lil wayne crowd(which most are brainless sheep) to actually listen to a fkn meaningful song and here the deep message that album was daring to say!
Lil Wayne did a good verse but it wasnt great, half his shit didnt rhyme, and he had a subliminal message like he usually does
"gotta message from god heaven to crowded" - what is he saying? for us to go to hell?
it cant be that we're dying...this world is over populated for its own economy!

Nas sucks. he is boring as fuck, his flow sounds like hes just reading his lines off of paper. Drake, B.o.B, Andre 3k, Wayne, Lupe Fiasco, Drake, and most importantly EMINEM. They are all more musically gifted than nas by miles. Nas may have more opinions but he is not a very good musical entertainer
@479cdrp479 The song lolipop is a total joke. it sucks. its not hip hop. its a pop song. luckily lil wayne has about 3,000 other songs that i bet you never have bothered to listen to
@Matthiasnewsome I do know hip hop history and i know that Nas is nothing special
Andre 3k was asked whether he thinks hip hop is dead recently, and he said no, not a chance. he said that party songs are as much a part of hip hop as super meaningful raps
@PowerSprinter "I know way too many people here right now That I didn’t know last year, who the fuck are y’all? I swear it feels like the last few nights We been everywhere and back But I just can’t remember it all" Drake "Freedom or jail, clips inserted, a baby's bein born Same time my man is murdered, the beginning and end As far as rap go, it's only natural, I explain My plateau, and also, what defines my name First it was Nasty, but times have changed" Nas Now tell me whos better
@PowerSprinter yo scratch my 1st idea and let's go with just a whole song u pick a song i pick 1 just type yo shit i'll do mines and then let the ppl decide which song is better so let's go the only 1 that would b hard 2 compete with is Lupe and Lupe say Illmatic was a moving force 4 him 2 rap so when u come with Lupe i'm coming with Illmatic just know that also this just friendly competition when u start i'll b with the shit
@PowerSprinter I like that thats actually a Lil Wayne I could listen 2 so since u didn't come with a hardcore song Thumbs up if Can't Forget About You by Nas Hip-Hop Is Dead is better
Real talk, the n*gga that killed hip-hop was Nas,""He came out publicly and said, 'Hip-Hop is dead,' and then after that everybody started saying hip-hop is dead. 'Cause think about it, if Nas would have never said hip-hop is dead, then motherf*ckers would have never thought anything about it...He probably wasn't feeling how the music was going," "He came out and killed everybody's money. He killed his own career with that sh*t. He shoulda thought about that sh*t though."
@DJBlack909 naww how u even gunna say that it dont take somone like nas to tell a real hip hop listener that hip hop is dead. you just gotta compare the shit that was hot and really considered hip hop and listen to the shit poppin off now and ull easily see that the shit is dying. but ya i agree that since he did come out and say dat a bunch of dick riders who dont know the meaning of hiphop just went out and said that shit cuz nas said it. but thats some other shit right there.
I know you NY and eastcoast niggaz love Nas but everywhere else (south, midwest or the westcoast) he ain't shit. But that ain't the reason he can't declare it dead. It's because Hip Hop is bigger than Nas, Jay, Biggie, Pac, name the artist Hip Hop is bigger. So NO ONE is big enough to say it's dead!
@824Lakeshow eat a dick nigga, your garbage, dj premier who is from down south would agree in saying hip hop is dead, cus he pioneered some of the greatest beats known to all man. your fucking garbage, you and all your lil wayne cocksucking faggot wannabes and your soulja bitch lovers. eat a dick, fuck you and fuck the south, not the whole south, just all the faggots that mimick us up north and try to add their gayness to it.
Nas got some ill ass songs yo im only 12 and i listen to Big L,Nas,jayz, the game, biggy and my favorite lil wayne and im start listening to daddy kane and krs one for reals. And i know about hip hop i study about hip hop.LL COOL J had mad beefs hes crazy.Nas as i said i got love for you BUT to me hip hop is is still alive and i listen to wat ever old school, new school i wii always love hip hop and nas too.
i hate to say it, but theSOUTH had a big part in why hip-hop died. I know alot of people that search deep for real hip-hop. Hip-Hop turned into a freak show.
i agree, sourthern shit should have its own genre named, dont call it southern hiphop just because niggas be talkin shit on it, and you be from the south, cus that shit dont sound like hip hop. a mean come on "superman" soulja boy? he need an ass woop
@elmaspison , u have to realze that some rappers from the south such as Bun B, Outkast, J cole, and T.I. are actually talented. so people shouldn't be mad at every rapper from the south.
@the1jet the south has no influence on ny music or real hip hop.people not buying real hip hop and ignoring the shit like it doesnt exist is the problem.the south is popular but what does that have to do with real hip hop. have u heard tha new clipse? dont dismiss real because its not mainstream

Here I am RAW A terrorist here to bring trouble to Phoney MC's I move on MCs A just stomp a and crush another rapper with ease Cus I'm at my appex and others are below Nuthin' but a millitire I'm a kilo 2nd to none makin' MC's run So don't try and step to me Cuz I aint the one I relieve rappers just like Tylanol and they know it So I don't see why you all tryin to front Perpitrating the stunt When you know that I'll smoke you all like a blunt I'm genuine like Gucci raw like sushi
so hip-hop has just been over-aired by the rap majority pushing it off the cliff of popularity right down to the underground, much less known also with the much better talent unknown and recognized, so in conclusion hip-hop aint dead just ignored by a flashier popularity ran form of hip-hip(rap) with all their gimmicks and pre-paid advertisements announcing the songs greatness before it even comes outs...pshhh rap is definetly endangerd if not dead of boredom from copying styles repeatidly again
so the only reason hip-hop would be dead, would be it isnt its just in hiding from the advertisments and radioshows that we realize just isnt nessasary in gettin a name for ourselves unless truly deserved with the according talent not just putting any computer voiced track with some anybodys voice attached, with money thrown at the radiostations to air the song,
and the question if hip-hop is dead who killed it? well i always enjoy a good hypathetical....well who killed it? the answer would be ourselves? maybe just maybe because what does rap bring that hip-hop doesnt? um celebrate fame, cash advertisment, greedy money from the supposed talent, lil wayne proves any one can rap with a computer voice attached, its simple to those with money and someone to write their lyrics for them lil wayne being a perfect example (with drake ).. maybe
Hmmm..? Maybe it would be truer in saying that hip-hop is no where near dead, but the opposite that rap is long gone and been dead for as long as they havent been growing, like to all those dumb-ass sayers saying rap is alive , well maybe it is but its reached its peak in less time than hip-hop making it an infant to its much more matured elder hip-hop
by saying hip-hop is dead thats so hiding the ignorant truth in the minds of the majority(BEING RAPPERS) against the minority(BEING HIP-HOP) just because a larger number of people prefer the other more mature side of music being rap, nurtured and created by earlier hip-hop music doing the first more creative original type of practical rapping, saying that just cause the majority is pushing their opinions on rap side they will always rule the choice but the majority is far from always right
the best in the industry of rap will always die young, cut short of there potential ex (Big L, Tupac, Biggie) from fear of competition, BUT the best in the industry of hip-hip (KRS-ONE) will only spawn new inspired music pushing others original style to grow in their self image, not like rap where it cant get any more original cause its reached its peak of growth where to be the best you copy the exact image of the best
ya and NAS is the biggest hipocrit out there sayin hip-hop is dead when he started from hip-hop, i never liked his far too real but yet fairy tale style rapping
LOL Hip-Hop is dead? by dead meaning finished, done? first recognize where the music industry originated from...hip-hip(yes) then recognize the lyrical talent back in the day that still to this day is far more intelligent, sending meaninful messages still to this day which is why hip-hop music feeds off eachother but rap competes with eachother, for example the 2 best rappers BIG nd Tpac both killed for being the best by some other worse rappers with the mentallity that when there dead were #1
i wouldnt be able to control my self from schoolin those kids on some real shit not the bubble gum hip hop you hear on the radio today. cant believe they actually think lil wayne is better than nas. goddamn thats sad.
according to other sources, the children say wayne is better. i don't know but i just look at that as a joke cuzz if i take it serious then i'll just get mad
@lilprincekilla yh man dats true, im 15 and apart from ma best m8 no1 in our school even knows who nas is, but every1 get a bonner every time waynes name is mentond, it really fuks me off, ppl dont listin 2 the lyrics anymore they just want something that sounds good
so true! i mean i give wayne his props, he can spit. back then he used to murder the music when he hit the track. but now when I hear him it's like, what the fuck is this bullshit, does he not have anything to rap about anymore? i heard nameless people rap underground and they be lyrically killing the mic in the music, sounding ten times better then the mainstream rappers, especially better than weezy
@lilprincekilla ya usually its 12 -15 year olds who say lil wayne is better, and its cus they don't know any better. If i was their pops id smack the shit out of them and tell them to get out of my house and live on the street, then see what music brings u up and wat brings u nowhere
that's harsh and funny at the same time. but i ain't takin nothin from wayne. he raw as fuck, one of the best rappers. but just like other rappers, he be saying some bullshit when it comes to his lyrics. but when he spits serious lyrics, he kill it though. but even his best stuff don't touch nas's classes.
lol. damn, i come back and i see 73 votes on my thing lol. thanks for bringing me back cuzz i'd have to search this page i commented on it so long ago. but still, lol on your comment
it'll take a while before any rapper can get on the level of the old lyrist. Now a days it's more about the money and rappers don't really take hip hop serious anymore. They don't express the messages like they put their heart into the music anymore. It's all materialism but you can't knock em cuzz they gotta make their money and it's what the media likes. Most of the time they don't even have the power to put down what they wanna put on the radio.
look up that album "palestine- land of the lost" on itunes this is not self promotion im just promoting good hiphop. i discovered the album 15 min ago and its the best thing ive heard in a while
i know man....thats sum shit aint it? i used 2 think kayne was pretty good too,but i dunno wat happened to him.i guess money changed him and the passin of his mom might make him the way he is
This comment has received too many negative votesshow
As a 20 year old hippie, you fuckface nas killed my favorite acid rock song In a Gadda Da Vida. That's I don't like hip hop because all you do is take other people songs and kill them. This goes to show you guys have no talent with music!!!
well then clearly you've never heard of the roots, a hip hop group who real intruments. The primary focus in hip hop is the lyrics. And there are people who get it, and there are people who don't. I have respect for all genres. And I don't know why you're blaming hip hop, not all hip hop songs have samples. And a lot of rock songs have the same chord progressions and don't add much either. Playing an instrument doesn't equal talent. And maybe you didn't see the point nas was trying to make.
Dead? Mos Def- The Ecstatic Slaughterhouse Reks- Grey Hairs Raekwon-Only Built for Cuban Linx 2 John Forte- Stylefree ( only raps on 3 tracks tho, sings the rest) Nas-every album AZ-- every album, recently N.4.L. mixtape, plus 2 other mixtapes and an album all in the past year... Method Man & Redman- Blackout 2 The Roots- every album COMING SOON: Nas & Damian Marley- Distant Relatives Talib Kweli & Hi-Tek album the Roots- How I Got Over
yea great artist and albums but are they being played in the radio along with the wack as niggaz playin no,are they getting realy getting the respect and publicity that these lame niggas are no so there fore may be hip hop isnt dead but its slowly dying you fill me brother?just from 1 hip hop head 2 another 1 love keep hip hop alive
Personally i think that the older generation, Needs to start taking charge for these younger dudes destroying an art. I don't think that they know that they are dismantling Hip-Hop, I just think that they don't have a full understanding of what Hip-Hop really is do they put out what they know an they end up with songs like "Crank That Souljah Boy". I think that they should start getting DP'd (Disciplined). My Opinion!!
go listen to unstoppable, closer, uptown, ransom, juice, fear.....tell me that nigga don't spit hot shit. nobody's heard of that whack shit you just mentioned. if you spit tight you get noticed.
nah im not goin to listen to that cuz i know ill be dissapointed.....and that whack shit i just mentioned?...lol....the ppl i mentioned stand tall even when compared to 90s mcs...kidd be real and listen to a couple of the their songs.....listen to motown 25 by Elzhi and tell me hes whack.....listen to nowadaze or greatest construction crew by shad and tell me hes whack.....or listen to steal by educated consumers and tell me their whack....u listen to mediocrity son...trust me...
hiphop suppose to b for everyone, u got ur common ur nelly ur solja boy n ya nas, hiphop is for everyone n the only way it would keep on going is if they just b a lil creative about what they right n what they do, u gotta set competion n goals, the reason y to me nas neva fell off is cus he dont follow trends n he dont try to make disney music, thats wha bow wow is there for u feel me
Nah, I think it's dead dawg. Like when you hear that Drake song, you hear Hip Hop breathing again. But with that Pop, Crunk and R&B being on the waves longer without like 5 authenic Hip Hop joints, then Hip Hop is nothing, the metaphor is DEAD!! Yeah it's active in the Underground but how many of the young heads know that? I'm just saying.
I dont care if some dont regard Hip Hop Is Dead as a classic, it is.
ILLMATIC, STILLMATIC, HIPHOPISDEAD yall
they were all PERFECT albums for their time.
___________
and yall know Nas doesnt believe its dead right? its definitely on life support, but he made this album title to provoke you to PROVE HIM WRONG.
And it worked. How many rappers had something to say about it? all of em. How many up n coming rappers mention HHID in a song, then go as hard as they can?
If it's underground then some of that stuff should be on the radio, if Hip Hop doesn't get that attention then the other music tops it down and this Generation Gap won't see Hip Hop for what it really is just like we can't see Eazy E or Tupac anymore. Get what I'm saying now?
Nas x

Nas sucks. he is boring as fuck, his flow sounds like hes just reading his lines off of paper. Drake, B.o.B, Andre 3k, Wayne, Lupe Fiasco, Drake, and most importantly EMINEM. They are all more musically gifted than nas by miles. Nas may have more opinions but he is not a very good musical entertainer

@Matthiasnewsome I do know hip hop history and i know that Nas is nothing special
Andre 3k was asked whether he thinks hip hop is dead recently, and he said no, not a chance. he said that party songs are as much a part of hip hop as super meaningful raps

@PowerSprinter ok let's go I wanna c this u name a quote i do 1 u pick any artist i'll stick with Nas

@qncymrtn Ok. I pick "Trouble" by Lil Wayne. Thumbs up if you think that this song is better than any Nas song

DJBlack909 1 year ago
@DJBlack909 naww how u even gunna say that it dont take somone like nas to tell a real hip hop listener that hip hop is dead. you just gotta compare the shit that was hot and really considered hip hop and listen to the shit poppin off now and ull easily see that the shit is dying. but ya i agree that since he did come out and say dat a bunch of dick riders who dont know the meaning of hiphop just went out and said that shit cuz nas said it. but thats some other shit right there.
Sp33dyMik3 1 year ago
I know you NY and eastcoast niggaz love Nas but everywhere else (south, midwest or the westcoast) he ain't shit. But that ain't the reason he can't declare it dead. It's because Hip Hop is bigger than Nas, Jay, Biggie, Pac, name the artist Hip Hop is bigger. So NO ONE is big enough to say it's dead!

RKG5A5 2 years ago
i hate to say it, but theSOUTH had a big part in why hip-hop died. I know alot of people that search deep for real hip-hop. Hip-Hop turned into a freak show.
the1jet 2 years ago 6
i agree, sourthern shit should have its own genre named, dont call it southern hiphop just because niggas be talkin shit on it, and you be from the south, cus that shit dont sound like hip hop. a mean come on "superman" soulja boy? he need an ass woop
elmaspison 2 years ago 2
@elmaspison , u have to realze that some rappers from the south such as Bun B, Outkast, J cole, and T.I. are actually talented. so people shouldn't be mad at every rapper from the south.

@the1jet the south has no influence on ny music or real hip hop.people not buying real hip hop and ignoring the shit like it doesnt exist is the problem.the south is popular but what does that have to do with real hip hop. have u heard tha new clipse? dont dismiss real because its not mainstream

so hip-hop has just been over-aired by the rap majority pushing it off the cliff of popularity right down to the underground, much less known also with the much better talent unknown and recognized, so in conclusion hip-hop aint dead just ignored by a flashier popularity ran form of hip-hip(rap) with all their gimmicks and pre-paid advertisements announcing the songs greatness before it even comes outs...pshhh rap is definetly endangerd if not dead of boredom from copying styles repeatidly again
ryanneville123 2 years ago 2
so the only reason hip-hop would be dead, would be it isnt its just in hiding from the advertisments and radioshows that we realize just isnt nessasary in gettin a name for ourselves unless truly deserved with the according talent not just putting any computer voiced track with some anybodys voice attached, with money thrown at the radiostations to air the song,
ryanneville123 2 years ago
and the question if hip-hop is dead who killed it? well i always enjoy a good hypathetical....well who killed it? the answer would be ourselves? maybe just maybe because what does rap bring that hip-hop doesnt? um celebrate fame, cash advertisment, greedy money from the supposed talent, lil wayne proves any one can rap with a computer voice attached, its simple to those with money and someone to write their lyrics for them lil wayne being a perfect example (with drake ).. maybe
ryanneville123 2 years ago
Hmmm..? Maybe it would be truer in saying that hip-hop is no where near dead, but the opposite that rap is long gone and been dead for as long as they havent been growing, like to all those dumb-ass sayers saying rap is alive , well maybe it is but its reached its peak in less time than hip-hop making it an infant to its much more matured elder hip-hop
ryanneville123 2 years ago
by saying hip-hop is dead thats so hiding the ignorant truth in the minds of the majority(BEING RAPPERS) against the minority(BEING HIP-HOP) just because a larger number of people prefer the other more mature side of music being rap, nurtured and created by earlier hip-hop music doing the first more creative original type of practical rapping, saying that just cause the majority is pushing their opinions on rap side they will always rule the choice but the majority is far from always right
ryanneville123 2 years ago
the best in the industry of rap will always die young, cut short of there potential ex (Big L, Tupac, Biggie) from fear of competition, BUT the best in the industry of hip-hip (KRS-ONE) will only spawn new inspired music pushing others original style to grow in their self image, not like rap where it cant get any more original cause its reached its peak of growth where to be the best you copy the exact image of the best
ryanneville123 2 years ago
ya and NAS is the biggest hipocrit out there sayin hip-hop is dead when he started from hip-hop, i never liked his far too real but yet fairy tale style rapping
ryanneville123 2 years ago
LOL Hip-Hop is dead? by dead meaning finished, done? first recognize where the music industry originated from...hip-hip(yes) then recognize the lyrical talent back in the day that still to this day is far more intelligent, sending meaninful messages still to this day which is why hip-hop music feeds off eachother but rap competes with eachother, for example the 2 best rappers BIG nd Tpac both killed for being the best by some other worse rappers with the mentallity that when there dead were #1

@lilprincekilla ya usually its 12 -15 year olds who say lil wayne is better, and its cus they don't know any better. If i was their pops id smack the shit out of them and tell them to get out of my house and live on the street, then see what music brings u up and wat brings u nowhere

it'll take a while before any rapper can get on the level of the old lyrist.

As a 20 year old hippie, you fuckface nas killed my favorite acid rock song In a Gadda Da Vida. That's I don't like hip hop because all you do is take other people songs and kill them. This goes to show you guys have no talent with music!!!
lenini056 2 years ago
well then clearly you've never heard of the roots, a hip hop group who real intruments.

I'm just saying.

and yall know Nas doesnt believe its dead right? its definitely on life support, but he made this album title to provoke you to PROVE HIM WRONG.
