  • I had forgotten the greatness of this song from my childhood. Brought back so many memories of the trip my folks took my little brother and I on when I was 13, to as many Battlefields as we could fit in on our way from Texas, through Louisianna, Mississippi, Alabama, Georgia, and Tennessee. I was a student of the War of Northern Aggression back then. This trip gave me a true love and appreciation of Dixie. Thank you for putting this together....God Bless Dixie!! God Bless Texas!

  • Thanks for postin'. Absolutely beautiful!

  • This song could be the greatest southern song ever written....I'm deep southern Ga, and this song represents everyone I know and have ever been around. Atlanta is NOT Ga. Its a whole differnt world and DOES NOT represent what Ga is all about, I promise u that!!!!!

  • Im a South Carolina boy and I am proud of my Confederate ancestors!!!!!

  • i wish i could have lived back when the south and north were aginst each other. im a southern boy, and im gonna die one too.

  • the south all way

  • Long live the South!

  • i wanna know who thinks this is racist! Where in this song does it say that whites, or any other race for that matter, are superior to any other race. The definition of racism, according to websters dictionary is "a belief that race is the primary determinant of human traits and capacities and that racial differences produce an inherent superiority of a particular race" where in this song is one race saying its superior to another?!?

  • AWESOME Song and Love the end of this slide-show!!! Good job!

  • Dang I love this song. I'm a 7th generation Texan and might proud of Dixie. This is a song about heritage, not hate. I'm having a hard time understanding how anyone finds this song racist. It just makes me sad to see all those beautiful images and then to consider it all covered in oil.

  • What a great video !!!!

  • we take easy down here

  • Why is being proud of your heritage racist? I am a Texan who has a mom from Mississippi and a dad from Tennessee. There is a black history month. We celebrate Cinco de Mayo in Texas (ironic since we won independence from Mexico). What makes them celebrating their heritage not racist and southerners celebrating theirs so? It's a double standard.

  • this has to be the most racist song I've ever heard.

  • @achzdck ......sooo......all "yanks" are the same, huh?

you sound like an ignorant asshole.

  • Ok Heidi - so i ain't just whistlin' dixie - LOL!

  • Love the song, love Dixie! Southern by the grace of God! The South was right! Deo Vindice!

  • Excellent video, Patti! It must be, because it brought tears to my eyes in a good way. That doesn't happen very often.

"Governor, if I had foreseen the use these people desired to make of their victory, there would have been no surrender at Appomattox, no, sir, not by me. Had I seen these results of subjugation, I would have preferred to die at Appomattox with my brave men, my sword in this right hand."

-- General Robert E. Lee, CSA, told to Texas ex-governor F. W. Stockdale, August 1870

  • R.E.Lee's funeral was Oct. 15, 1870. I wish we had men like that here today.
