I think that this all setting up for another one of bleach's plot twists. I think that the writers are slowly releasing info on Hikifune who is now apart of the royal gaurd, which will lead to an explanation of when Aizens interest in he Royal Gaurd first started.But at the same time reveaing info on the vizard who will play a key role in Aizens downfall.
Or into the next bleach arc that could take place in the soul society king dimension if aizen gets in.
