@OrthodoxDarwinGuy Fawkes and the other conspirators were Roman Catholics trying to kill King James and attack England because of their printing of the King James Bible. Rome and England were the bitterest of enemies. Protestant England was taking the gospel to the world through her rising empire and Rome was not about to let that happen. This is why when Alex Jones and others blame Great Britian and the bankers, it is just another attack on the once mighty empire that helped spread the truth
Atheist friends, it is not the objective of Christ and His Church to force you into submission or to fight any sort of intellectual and scientific developments; rather, it is our objective to bring you the Good News of the Love of God. It is then your decision how to react to it. We are not surprised as to why there is much hatred and contempt against us; after all, our own God was mocked, abandoned, and killed by the people He loved, and what He did was work for their salvation, not damnation.
With every opportunity I have, I pray for the conversion of the atheists; for all their intellectual and technological prowess, they have nothing but their dead, machine idols. And though they may kill us and split our very atom with their weapons of death an destruction, they can never overcome our spirit, which strives and yearns for God, the source of all wisdom and righteousness.
I need to see no miracles, taking the Holy Communion is good enough for me. I experience the feeling of being loved, all my stress, sorrow, and the feeling of anger is gone everytime.

We are talking about people that gave everything that they had in this life:money, security, time, family, healthy,

@piusboltsgrl28 Wich stories might that be? The inspiring tale of Mother Theresa for example, who used the money given to her (often corruptly) to build convents instead of hospitals?
Its already profoundly moronic of you to expect rational people to become religious after hearing a silly story.. but its just outright hilarious for you to call atheists 'blind' when you obviously refuse to accept that if history has taught us anything, its that 'miracles' always turn out to be nonsense.
Thats the problem with you atheists, you think you can explain everything. Even when you can't explain something you still make something up. You don't even want to do research. Fine then, when the time comes you will come to believe.
There are 10,000+ Saints who followed their Lord. Tell me, can you explain the lives of 10,000+ Saints. I mean Im not pushing you, Im just curious to see if you can explain miracles without even Following God.
@madelineschannel: Try to debunk the miracle of St. Padre Pio who cured the blindness of a girl. She can see even if she still has no pupil.. I don't need to give you all the info. Research on that yourself..
I like the idea for your video, but I think it would have been cool if you had put a sentence or two about why they were sainted, and if they're the patron saint of anyone/thing.
Je souhaite de tout coeur que soit ajoutée la figure du Pape Pie XII !
je souhaite ardemment qu'il soit béatifié et canonisé.
C'est un Pape à redécouvrir pour notre époque.
Thank you for this excellent video! I wish of any heart that the figure of the Pie XII Pope be added! I wish qu' ardently; he is béatifié and canonized. That is a Pope for our time.
Beautiful video. Thank you so much for reminding me of their faces, may we let the light of Christ shine forth like they do wherever the Lord has planted us to shine. God Bless!
Laura Vicuna is not a venerable anymore. They have been beatified.Bl.Namuncura in November 2007,and Bl. Vicuna in 1988!ALso,Bl.Charles de Foucauld was beatified in 2005 by pope Benedict XVI.Mother Theresa ain't a saint yet,but she will probably be,in a few years from now.Francis Seelos was beatified in 2005.
Edel Quinn is a venerable.
The blesseds and venerables may be elevated in their status anytime.
For all atheists there, make these people as examples.Live with God in your hearts!
"How beautiful are the feet of those who bring good news" These men and women are all so beautiful. I look at them and cry. They are our true friends. And I can't wait to meet them, if the Lord is willing.
I am an atheist but I do envy the saints. I don't understand belief in God but it is clear that the faith can sometimes bring out the very best in humanity. I would like to have faith in certain unseen, unproven things and have tried for many years. Hopefully some day I will.
Vedaseran, thank you for your comments. You might be interested in the Catholic Books at the Tan Books site_ .They have many books on modern day saints and miracles. Thanks!
I understand you, it is difficult to believe in God. Me, I have faith but sometimes, I find it difficult to believe. But to me, God is not invisible; it can be seen through Creation and Love. I see Him in a beautiful sunset, in mother's smile, in a hug... The secret of faith is to stop trying to find God with your head (with reason and science) and start to find Him with your heart. Keep your heart open; God will sure reach you once you are ready. :) Write to me, if you wish (I'm catholic btw):)

tornwoman, thank you for your comments. Edel Quinn was a foreign missionary for the Legion of Mary. A lot of excellent saints were left out, since there are so many. I had never heard of Frassati, but I will investigate. Thanks for the info! Regards...
This video is the reason i dram i was about to recieve my franciscan habit i would like to recieve but i was among this kind of people with their lovely faces, so i had to smile... and i smiled to recive my habit. Thanks for sharing this video, have to see it again. Makes me have nice dreams.
These are the men and women who never denied Christ in the face of death, sacrifice, humiliation and rejection! why do i find it hard to be like them?!
As a Christian & a Catholic, the Faith in my heart compels me to happily & whole-heartedly pray for ALL people, regardless of their beliefs, lifestyles etc. I believe God planned-specially created Mary,a vessel & Mother to His Son & adoring Her takes nothing away from The Trinity. I don't hate and belittle those who feel differently. When these become involved in religion its clear who's at work. The greatest trick the Devil ever played was convincing the World that he doesn't exist.
Chyrd the real shame lies in the fact satan owns you. However your rant works on alot of people so I guess satan continues to use little tools like you.
Question to be considered. If you are familiar with Byzantine Icons then you know that many of these images are of saints. You may also know that the Catholic Church and Greek Orthodox Churches consider them to be "Acheropsita" which means "not made by hand." Since these photographs of saints are not technically made by hand (no more than the Veronica cloth) are they considered Icons? If so, what role does the camera play? What is the role of the Photographer?
I'm a catholic in the UK, discerning a vocation to the priesthood/religious life - its people like these Saints that spur me on, inspire me, and even pray for me and YOU TOO!
MY favourites are St. Pio, St. Bernadette, and im getting to know more about St. Maria Goretti, her Feast day is my birthday (6th July). What a joy & comfort!
The Church has had so much negative publicity lately that it is time people find out that THE SAINTS and THE TENETS OF THE FAITH should be emphasized over mere human frailities.
Although I am one Confession away from becoming Catholic, I have attended services for most of my life.I defend the Church from detractors!
The Saints strengthen our Faith! The Saints are examples we should try to be like.
What beauty! I'm happy to say that I, possibly, know a living saint, firsthand. One day, I expect to see his face shown along with these. There is such a comfort in knowing that saints are ordinary people who have done extraordinary things because of their love for God. God is wondrous in His Saints!!! Lovely video. Beautiful saints. Praise God for their witness and their friendship!
Before people say ANYTHING against the Catholic Church, they should study the Catachism like I did.
Thank you for the inspiration by depicted these wonderous examples that we should all aspire to be like them!
I am thankful that in times like these, we still have the saints to look up to. They began as ordinary people whose Faith in G*d caused them to do EXTRAORDINARY things and live EXEMPLARY lives!
For me to contemplate, eh? Well, I don't see that there is anything to contemplate here. A bunch of people's faces, whahoo. Guess what? I'm still and atheist!
These people aren't 'just a bunch of people's faces'...they lived lives that outshine mine and yours. Perhaps just a little thing to contemplate, regardless of whether you deny the existence of God or not. You should have some sort of a 'secular' brand of feigned respect for those that are kind and good to others. I'd think it only natural, even for an 'atheist'.
The other day I bought a book about Rumi, the famous Sufi mystic. Examining it at home I noticed that the illustration on the cover included a picture of the Indian 20th century mystic Ramana Maharshi (his smiling face!). It's as if the authors were saying Rumi, Ramana, all true mystics are about the same truth. Eh...so what's my point?
For those with faith, no explanation is necessary. For those without faith, no explanation will suffice. This is an old and wise saying. Faith is not a "feeling" or intuition. It is a choice.
"For those that believe in God, no explanation is necessary, for those that do not believe in God, no explanation is possible."
It's saying you should remain ignorant.
Here's an older one "Prove all things; hold fast that which is good." Thessalonians 5:21
and... If it's quote mining you want...
"Faith is the great cop-out, the great excuse to evade the need to think and evaluate evidence. Faith is belief in spite of, even perhaps because of, the lack of evidence."
You are correct... the version I used was the prologue of the 20th century fox film... the words "believe" "god" "faith" are all used interchangebly, while quote mining. However, they all mean the same thing. This is not an attack directed at you, but in order to have any of those things... you need to remain ignorant and not question anything. Agreed?
I don't think I agre with that at all. I think it works for the well informed as well as the ignorant. Faith moves beynd those boundaries. In fact, sometimes our own arrogance limits us. Faith moves us beyond those limitations to stretch us to further growth, even more to grasp.
the only faith you can truly possess are things that are factual... in other words... you can have faith that the sun will rise in the east and set in the west (not that it will rise mind you)... you can have faith that the gov't will tax your income, and tax the things you buy with the leftover money. You can have faith that milk will spoil if you leave it on the counter overnight (no coffee for me this morning). Testing and retesting theory moves us beyond limitations and helps us to grow.
Again, I don't agree. But that's ok. I've ahd faith in manythings that have been extraordinary and they have come to fuition. If I limit things only to myself, what I can perceive, I do just that..limit myself. Faith has brought me beyond ordinary. The things of which you speak require no faith. They are evidentiary speculations. Ordinary is expected. Many live the ordinary. I feel blessed that I've experienced the extraordinary. I would never speculate on what another could or could'nt possess.
Well that's great that it works for you... I wouldn't however call nature, or the cosmos ordinary. Evolution is beautifully simplistic and complex at the same time... there is lots of beauty in and of this planet... and in the universe... I see the beauty in the scientific method... for with that... you get as close to the truth as you can... until something more true comes along...
for me and others, it is beautiful without god... Hey man... Have a good one...
..and those of us with faith see that beauty and more. One of the things about the Catholic faith is that it must integrate all truth. Since we beleve that Jesus is the truth the way and the life, not to do so would be a travesty.
As a former catholic, I would like to see catholics, christians, muslims, jews and other religion integrate the truth. Instead of hiding it or muddling it up. The catholics took until 1979 to forgive Galileo, the christians are saying man walked with the dinosaurs on earth 6000 years ago.
It bites the butter off of my biscuit. So, let's get the truth out there. Look, if you want to believe that god caused the big bang, abiogenesis, and evolution... Cool. But get the science out there.
Oh, dont worry, we do...and always have. We're slow and deliberate. It may not be fast enough for some. We all ahve different levels of patience and different criteria. Yours is an integration without faith, for that's your point of departure. Ours is with faith and all of creation. That's our point of departure. But none of the collection of truth is going to meet any individuals private agenda.
Come on... for 600 years, the church kept Europe in the dark scientifically. Fundie Muslims would like to return to a "simpler time". Fundie Christians want to deny evolutionary science. If it takes the church 366 years to finally say that Galileo was correct, and that they were sorry for having him banished... That's not just slow progress... that's not no progress... that is regression.
Well, see, now you've ended the conversation. Yours is not an attempt at dialogue. Your is an attempt at name calling and ad hominum arguments of prejudgement in bigotry. Yours is not a criticism of construction, but some kind of anger you harbor. there can be no constructive conversation in that context.
Not sure why you've taken my last comment as an end to conversation, or an attempt at name calling, or ad hominem argument. I've prejudged no one. I do my research before making any judgement call. I've done neither. If you want to continue this dialogue, I will accommodate that. But let's call a spade a spade. You have to agree that a lot of the fundies are backward thinking, and although probably a minority, they are still the loudest in trying to get their points across.
This comment has received too many negative votesshow
The real shame lies in the fact that many spend their limited time here on earth looking for their imaginary friend to comfort them, and hope that when they die... he will embrace them to his chest... The other shame is that they spend a lot more of their time trying to convince others that their god is the one and only...
It's either that or spending my time drinking, doing weed, and other practices to forget about my life in order to comfort myself. This seems a much more healthier way to spend my 'limited' time on Earth to me, though this is my opinion. :)
I have always loved hearing and reading the lives of the saints; I created a new Catholic channel because there are more atheistic, non-believers, please join me in viewing my posts, my favorites, I will be doing more videos soon. Thank you
This is what makes the faith so strong, many of the saints did wonderful things for the world, like Father maximilian kolbe during world war 2, he finally gave his life for another man in a concentration camp.
The blood of the matyrs proves the one true faith.
To smellarm: Pray the Chaplet of Divine Mercy, you can find it here or on the web. Today is Mercy Sunday, perhaps you are blinded by your sins, well pray that (this shows good faith) then ask God for a 'sign'. That is what someone told me to do I did it and I then stopped doubting. No floating pencils but you will know God spoke to you, trust me, you will have no doubt and you will think your nuts at first, thats ok, when it happens, humor yourself as I did, it worked :)
The movie zeitgeist is a fabrication in every sentence and has been proven to be so. They can't even get the names of the Egyptian gods they are talking about right.
Maria Goretti was a 12 yr old Italian farm girl. She was sent home from the fields to make lunches for her family and helpers. An older youth followed her home and made advances toward her.She fought him off,but he said,"No one is here, no one will know." She still fought him. She said God would know. That made him more angry and in his rage, he stabbed her several times. Her family came looking for her and found her bleeding to death. She said to tell the boy she forgave him, then died.
The People in these pictures are all ordinary like all of us but they did live extra ordinary lives. I am not familiar with all of them but I am with most of them. Max Colbe exchanged places with a Jewish father of 9 in the death camps during WWII. They just wanted a body so he gave them his. He was put in a small cell with no food or water. The Jewish father of 9 lived to tell what took place there. I'm sure Max was afraid, anyone in their right mind would be, but he did it anyway, For God.
I'm not an expert in physics and could not be totally sure if any laws were being broken. I assume you mean something that defies the laws of physical reality as we know it. In that case something that would defy the laws of physical reality would be miraculous. And as I've said, a miracle (like the appearance of Jesus, etc) would be enough to sway me seriously in favour of belief in a God. Even a little tiny miracle. There's just nothing there except bronze-age myths.
Why the hell do atheists have to contemplate a bunch of pictures of these people? What's supposed to happen? Am I to suddenly start believing in the supernatural because these faces are paraded in front of me? The title of this video makes no sense.
Yesterday I made an interesting video on the Catholic tradition of asking saints to intercede for us, if anyone's interested.

God Bless:)

The Church has had so much negative publicity lately that it is time people find out that THE SAINTS and THE TENETS OF THE FAITH should be emphasized over mere human frailities.
Although I am one Confession away from becoming Catholic, I have attended services for most of my life.I defend the Church from detractors!
The Saints strengthen our Faith! The Saints are examples we should try to be like.

It is a choice.
crstprst 3 years ago 4
The quote is:
"For those that believe in God, no explanation is necessary, for those that do not believe in God, no explanation is possible."
It's saying you should remain ignorant.
Here's an older one "Prove all things; hold fast that which is good." Thessalonians 5:21
and... If it's quote mining you want...
"Faith is the great cop-out, the great excuse to evade the need to think and evaluate evidence. Faith is belief in spite of, even perhaps because of, the lack of evidence."
chyrd 3 years ago

Hi there,
Actually, the form of the quotation that I have came right from my copy of the book "The Song of Bernadette." I'm sure there are many variations.
crstprst 3 years ago
You are correct... the version I used was the prologue of the 20th century fox film... the words "believe" "god" "faith" are all used interchangebly, while quote mining. However, they all mean the same thing. This is not an attack directed at you, but in order to have any of those things... you need to remain ignorant and not question anything. Agreed?
chyrd 3 years ago
I don't think I agre with that at all. I think it works for the well informed as well as the ignorant. Faith moves beynd those boundaries. In fact, sometimes our own arrogance limits us. Faith moves us beyond those limitations to stretch us to further growth, even more to grasp.
crstprst 3 years ago 2
the only faith you can truly possess are things that are factual... in other words... you can have faith that the sun will rise in the east and set in the west (not that it will rise mind you)... you can have faith that the gov't will tax your income, and tax the things you buy with the leftover money. You can have faith that milk will spoil if you leave it on the counter overnight (no coffee for me this morning). Testing and retesting theory moves us beyond limitations and helps us to grow.
chyrd 3 years ago
Again, I don't agree. But that's ok. I've ahd faith in manythings that have been extraordinary and they have come to fuition. If I limit things only to myself, what I can perceive, I do just that..limit myself. Faith has brought me beyond ordinary. The things of which you speak require no faith. They are evidentiary speculations. Ordinary is expected. Many live the ordinary. I feel blessed that I've experienced the extraordinary. I would never speculate on what another could or could'nt possess.
crstprst 3 years ago 2
Well that's great that it works for you... I wouldn't however call nature, or the cosmos ordinary. Evolution is beautifully simplistic and complex at the same time... there is lots of beauty in and of this planet... and in the universe... I see the beauty in the scientific method... for with that... you get as close to the truth as you can... until something more true comes along...
for me and others, it is beautiful without god... Hey man... Have a good one...
chyrd 3 years ago
..and those of us with faith see that beauty and more. One of the things about the Catholic faith is that it must integrate all truth. Since we beleve that Jesus is the truth the way and the life, not to do so would be a travesty.
crstprst 3 years ago
As a former catholic, I would like to see catholics, christians, muslims, jews and other religion integrate the truth. Instead of hiding it or muddling it up. The catholics took until 1979 to forgive Galileo, the christians are saying man walked with the dinosaurs on earth 6000 years ago.
It bites the butter off of my biscuit. So, let's get the truth out there. Look, if you want to believe that god caused the big bang, abiogenesis, and evolution... Cool. But get the science out there.
chyrd 3 years ago
Oh, dont worry, we do...and always have. We're slow and deliberate. It may not be fast enough for some. We all ahve different levels of patience and different criteria. Yours is an integration without faith, for that's your point of departure. Ours is with faith and all of creation. That's our point of departure. But none of the collection of truth is going to meet any individuals private agenda.
crstprst 3 years ago 2
Come on... for 600 years, the church kept Europe in the dark scientifically. Fundie Muslims would like to return to a "simpler time". Fundie Christians want to deny evolutionary science. If it takes the church 366 years to finally say that Galileo was correct, and that they were sorry for having him banished... That's not just slow progress... that's not no progress... that is regression.
chyrd 3 years ago
Well, see, now you've ended the conversation. Yours is not an attempt at dialogue. Your is an attempt at name calling and ad hominum arguments of prejudgement in bigotry. Yours is not a criticism of construction, but some kind of anger you harbor. there can be no constructive conversation in that context.
crstprst 3 years ago
Not sure why you've taken my last comment as an end to conversation, or an attempt at name calling, or ad hominem argument. I've prejudged no one. I do my research before making any judgement call. I've done neither. If you want to continue this dialogue, I will accommodate that. But let's call a spade a spade. You have to agree that a lot of the fundies are backward thinking, and although probably a minority, they are still the loudest in trying to get their points across.
chyrd 3 years ago
The science got itself out of there, because it couldn`t find an answer to that..

The real shame lies in the fact that many spend their limited time here on earth looking for their imaginary friend to comfort them, and hope that when they die... he will embrace them to his chest... The other shame is that they spend a lot more of their time trying to convince others that their god is the one and only...
That's the shame...
chyrd 3 years ago
It's either that or spending my time drinking, doing weed, and other practices to forget about my life in order to comfort myself. This seems a much more healthier way to spend my 'limited' time on Earth to me, though this is my opinion. :)
