dont use bark for bedding. use sand or cocohusk, or a mix of the two, and use the coral by the food and water if you sont want sand in it, tho this isnt necessary

Awesome tank your crabs look very well cared for except that you have a metal climbing thing in there hermit crabs are very sensitive to metal and that will kill them you can get a climbing background from petco that is made out of shredded cocoanut husk.

There is no such thing as a jumbo hermit crab either, They're all "Hermit crabs", they all grow, they all get that big. They can live up to 30 years.

I like your setup, however, your water dishes are to small for your hermit crabs, they need to be able to submerge most of their entire body (Shell and all) in both salt and freshwater. I noticed you had metal in the back, Please, remove this, Metal is toxic to hermit crabs. Where is your thermometer/hygrometer? Hermit crabs need a temperature of 72-80 degrees (F) And a humidity of 70-85% to survive, Without proper humidity levels, they can't breathe.

your tank i'd say should be a 10 gallon just to be safe, and you can keep your tank moist by spraying distilled water on a substrate that can hold moisture well ( such as eco earth coconut fiber)

for humidity, try a glass lid for your tank, or u can cover the top of ur tank with mesh and cover it with a wet/moist towel

That "climbing wire" looks metal, which is toxic to crabs. Shells with an "I" shape are not used by crabs. It's not a bad setup for your age, especially if you're doing your research alone. Keep working on it and find out more information.
