@vikingvic fyi: (even tho i agree to cut stems with a knife or pinch them) it actually does not ruin the mycelium. they will grow again next year. the problem is this year, where the 'chain' is broken from the main host shroom to the others, thus voiding food source. by breaking the 'chain' or hypha, you're not allowing the other shrooms to get nutrients from the mycelium.

@kingspunkbubble oh yes, seen them. seems to happen to older specimens. you should put them in the oven or a radiator or under a lamp for a few hours, but try to keep the temperatures under 35C (95F) so your mushrooms won't lose any of their magic. this speeds up the drying process and to your amazement, the nasty fuckers start crawling out of the mushrooms and die as they do so. of course it won't hurt you if you eat some of those tiny bastards but I understand what you mean :)

However, heat will speed up pretty much any reaction because you're giving the molecules energy, so you get greater potency loss when drying with heat.

The ones near me are small - very rare to find a big one.. those are more cone shaped than mine too..

Can anyone tell me if they've ever seen them with slightly purplish/grey gills? Only mine vary in colour and I'm not sure if anything other than dark brown is safe to eat.. Also, not all of them have nipples on them. My friend says not all of them do..

Anyone else seen the smaller ones with purple gills? I'm 95% sure they are but there's a nagging doubt.. Any reassurance would help :)

zanebrant: if you havent tripped on shrooms before, take about 20-25 caps. That is enough to make you amazed but won't get you completely lost. I took 18 for the first time some weeks ago, and it was awesome :)

there are no poisonous look alikes in the UK and as for where to find them, look out for: -Short grass (not nessasary, but just eaiser to eye ball) -South facing slope -Cows/horses/deer in field -Look around the droppings of animals -Look around the base of grassy knolls And to spot spot Psilocybe semilanceata from the look alikes: -Take a spore print (cut off the cap and leave on white paper for 20mins. Should be purple/brown) -Faint gills on outside of cap -Stem bruises blue Good luck :D

Well when I'm actually high on shrooms I just completely leave this planet.

The second time I took Columbians I held the express lane in Mcdonalds up for about 10 minutes. I had no idea what I wanted when I went in so when the nice girl behind the counter said

"What can I get you?", I said

"I don't know...", but genuinly meant it. She looked at me completely puzzled and I at her. I had four £1 coins in my hand, and I made sure of that because I counted them about 7 times.
