Hey, I use a Prodigy Express myself. I think that the plug labeled bus is used for adding extension plates and power boosters. A bus wire is nothing more than a set of wires that run along the track under the layout. One is for one rail the other is for the other rail. From these wires you add feeder wires from the bus wire to the appropriate rail. This is done every 3 feet or so. Look up DCC wiring on YouTube. good luck!
The booster is basically for more amperage to run more trains and accessories. You don't really need a booster on your layout. I have the MRC Prodigy Advance 2 and my layout is 13x17 and I use 2 throttles. All I needed was the Prodigy Express as it is more then enough power to run trains. 1 throttle can run a multiple unit lashup while the other throttle is used for switching. I have 4 feeder wires only on my layout the top level is wired into the bottom set of feeders and I have no problems.

you don't have to run feeder wires every 3 feet. just in a few spots around the layout
