  • I sit here in the lonelyness of my room, nothing than a candle lights the night... nothing than a candle and andrews voice....

  • i'm a little irritated of all those comments regarding the pic ...

listen to this music – it's awesome!

  • Once heard a really haunting version of Marian which was on a bootleg tape can't find it on utube anyone got it?

  • This song should be an hour long, at least

  • Sonido animal!!!

  • God I love these Floodland photo sessions.... Great track too.

  • sisters of mercy are goth, they are gods !

  • heard this for the first time back in the 80's.

Never touched drugs after hearing it.

  • this song haunts my dreams, its like from the depths of my mind. it hits something so very deep in me. this is one of my all time fav sisters songs and i dont know why.....just so haunting and entrancing

  • Hey, its on the album - in gatefold - get down to a decent second hand shop and grab yourself the LP!

  • I JUST HERD OF THIS BAND SONDS GOOD SORRY IM LITTLE BRAT I HAVENT LIVED IN 80'S. LOL

  • Comment removed

  • @sisteruli I know, I once said it in the description and hesitated to change, but I figured aesthetics were more important.

  • @sisteruli

This is not on the Reptile House EP, it's on the Body and Soul EP.

  • It is the Poster inside of the limit. Edt.! thanks ..i love this EP!

  • this will never let me down, all time favorite

  • Superb B-Side.

  • This is one of the darkest things ever put to tape. Damn...

  • this song is used in the amstrad CPC game "Marauder" !

  • @Zakyath as Andrew says, Sisters are rock'n'roll/pop band...

  • first it would be held in Wallkill (lol KILL) but the council protested because 2 many people would attent.. so they searched for an other location.

they found it in a place called Bethel (more lol .. fonetic for Battle).

    Hippies are funny :)

"taking woodstock" is a nice movie and can be downloaded at any torrent site..it tells the whole story /watch?v=7Iq8z2WDbKo

  • nope , the big hippie festival of 1969 was not held in Woodstock.. try again :)

  • @aslyan not in Woodstock? then where? : /

  • im looking for a copy of that pic used in this "clip" :)

is that with maggie reilly? i have tried google search with different searchoptions but i cant find it.

pls be so kind to send me a pm if u know a site where i can find a good quality pic.

  • @aslyan - It is Patricia Morrison. It was the reverse of the lyric sheet insert in the original Floodland Album on vinyl.

    Go on, ask me another....

  • @Long23 ..tnx for the patricia.. i have the album, think its a nice picture and i wanna have it as my desktop.. so im looking for a pic of it somewhere here on the net..

another? hmm nothing to do with SoM but a nice one: in wich town was that 1969 big hippie concert been held?

  • @aslyan That has lots to do with the Sisters - the Stones gig was at Altamont, and the events of that day are covered by the documentary "Gimme Shelter" (The Sisters regularly covered the Stones' song of the same name).

The video of the 1985 Sisters gig at the Albert Hall is now titled "Wake, Choruses from under the rock" (a TS Eliot reference) - it was originally titled "Wake: Altamont, a Festival of Remembrance".

  • @aslyan Woodstock? :p

  • @aslyan I had it on my old laptop which has melted down, sorry such a late answer, I hope you have found it, but if you don't I could send it to you once I recover all the files from my hd.

  • @aslyan

The picture is actually with Patricia Morrison

  • @aslyan

It's actually the inlay photo of the cassette for Floodland.

Some of the records (vinyl) may also have had this picture. The special editions that came with lyric sheets etc.

The regular LP does not have it.

  • @aslyan it is not Maggie rReilly.

    It's Patricia Morrison...

  • Comment removed

  • @aslyan The picture's the inlay from Floodland (on vinyl ).

  • @aslyan The picture's the inlay from Floodland (on vinyl ). Think it's Eldridge and Patricia Morrison.

  • @aslyan its with Patricia Morrison. The pic is used on the inside booklet of the Floodland CD.

  • @aslyan i know now that she is not maggie and that the pic is used on a album cover..

but im still looking for a good quality pic (pref. high res)

  • @aslyan odds are that a copy of this picture in good quality is hard to find, since the inlay from Floodland itself(which is this picture) isn't best quality :)

  • @aslyan It's on a sort of floding poster in the "Floodland" LP. Lyrics on one side, this pic on the other. It's quite big, actually (twice the size of the album, horizontally, and the album size, vertically). Beautiful indeed. And it IS high quality. It's just that there's a "disturbance" in the pic because it's been shot with an analogic camera, using a high ASA rate film and only low naturali light.

  • Taken from the Body & Soul EP from 1984. 3 of the 4 songs on that EP (including this one) have never officially been released on CD, such a shame.

Great haunting, dark song. Sisters at their best.

  • Long Live Amphetamine Filth!

  • Reptile house was an EP ;-)

  • There's a slightly longer botleg version around... if it's not on YT then I might upload... either way, I was obsessed with song for a long time... nearly wore out the vinyl... I even had record player that could play it at 16rpm.... now that was scary!

  • @neonsuntan - try the b-side of the Dominion 12" at 33rpm. Beautiful.....

  • @Long23 I played Paranoia Paranoia by Bauhaus at 16 rpm and in the midst of the droning sludge you can clearly hear a Hawaiian Guitar played at normal speed!

  • Once I ws playing thios song to someone unfamilliar with it. Outside an ambulance passed with sirens wailing. He seriously believed it was part of the song.

But no matter what, this song is awfully brilliant!

  • ....so chilling.....better than sex.........

  • @karadcd !!!!!!!!!!!!

  • @IamNewNoise ...feels like sex on a bed of nails ....there is pain.....but u don t want to lose the lust.....

  • Truely haunting song ... shivering

  • Whoa. I've never heard this song.

  • Gorgeous.

  • Lisergic-goth ... amazing travel by the beat of the times! thankyou!

  • Oh Yesssss

  • This is like a John Carpenter soundtrack! Amazing, never heard it before, thanks YouTube and thanks for putting this up on the page, you would of never of heard this years ago without the internet etc. Amazing.

  • @metaldaveboy those are my sentiments exactly

utube is really a phenomenal invention

  • Is there an album this song is on ?

  • @Scopolan

jep the blue one, it´s a maxi with train and body electric.

  • @Scopolan It's on the b- side of Body And Soul/ Body Electric E.P.

  • @Scopolan. It was a B side. The Sisters used to release 2-3 songs at a time on vinyl. The only 'original' albums were FirstLastandAlways and ReptileHouse.

  • Eldritch refused to label his band as goth, just straight psychedelic underground sound. it was craig adams bass that made the sound into the dark wave genre. g. marx you ripped it on the spaghetti western sound. sisters........

  • Anyone remember which was the A side?

  • imo the darkest song made, ever. Especialy if you play the 12" in 33 rpm

  • AN EPIC!!!

  • the most imposing thing are the changing of beat meassure. first timel thats i listen anything without 4/4 beat from this artist (first time stick around 1:05 - 1:15)

  • This song of the Sisters brings some beautiful tenebrous visions... Darkness and despair has never been so uplifting.

  • Late night sex at its best.

  • @doktorgriff "Neverland" full length version fits that bill too, imo. ;-)

  • @sugarandspice4815 Yep agree and Driven like the snow

  • Surely my favourite B-Side.

  • Dark. Deep. Beautiful. Grinding. Throbbing like an atomic heartbeat.

  • sends shivers down my spine every time <3

  • Favorite SIsters song. It's just timeless.

  • astounding beauty

  • Sublime!

  • Love did not work, so let's c if the other sky is more compromising. All dark clouds fall from me like dust, just i stumble upon these earthlines, precioned by it's atmosphere & light, let me get a glow, a charm, a hat to cover me . . let this light fall into me, give me a glance, i'll be upon it, and i will not stumble again. freedom & the sun is with me, even while it cannot blind me, because the holy clearance has been set. I'm sailing up to a new horizon, strongest winds cannot bind me . .

  • skinny puppy sampled this riff for warlock.

  • i think "fix" is darker....but who cares..love that shit..andrews depression is to romantic to discuss that..

  • Perhaps the most darkness song of the sisters.., this song with FIX are the samples of their best simple and realist songs

  • those were the...nights!

  • One of my fav sisters songs.

  • Oh bliss! Bliss and heaven! Oh, it was gorgeousness and gorgeousity made flesh. It was like a bird of rarest-spun heaven metal or like silvery wine flowing in a spaceship, gravity all nonsense now.

  • @AdamCoffin13 heh... a great quote from A Clockwork Orange. As much as I love The Sisters, I'd leave those words of Alex to its rightful owner: Ludwig Van.

  • THE DARKEST SIDE OF ROCK MUSIC !

  • @Technofolle yes is a goth-rock...

  • Holy Shit ! I didn´t know about this song until now. Great indeed!

  • " Let´s take a Ride"..

  • Amen to that....

  • AMEN to that...

  • music at this tempo defines me, andrew eldritch voice haunts, sisters, the wake, fields of the nephilm, this music a black cloaked figure in the graveyard fading into the early morning mist or fullmoon alone at the beach staring at the endless deep black sea

  • one of the three best Sisters songs ... what do u need labels like goth for when you have got eternal Music like this - straight from underground

  • What album/single is this from ^_^

  • It was originally on the "Body & Soul" EP.

  • sisters for ever!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • yeah

    near dark

  • This song would fit beautiful in a Bierzelt at the Oktoberfest.

  • this would be the best idea ever, but the prollies like other music in germany...

shit music for old and idiots...

i know what i am talking... i live in gerrmanny

  • no.

  • This is my life!. Greeting from Italy.

  • The most stirring Sisters song in the entire catalog.

  • They helped start goth!!!!

  • love this tune man. i do wish people would stop referring to the Sisters as fucking GOTH! their not.

  • Sisters aren't goth. Goth is Sisters.

  • You hear see the obvious Suicide influence, with a little post-punk geetar thrown in.

  • one more night spent on your mirror black maria, in your eyes this stuff so strange and lonely England fades away in your eyes two o'clock in the morning ninety-four degrees through the stillness through the heat the cars go by on Fifth and breathing slow get up off the floor and angel put your clothes on it's time for us to go let's take a ride
  • nice one mate at last, i allways thought it was "reach up", and not angle, still a top tune, meny a happy hour lying on the floor off my tits,..them were the days ,know its my 16 year old daughter joining me on the floor...noiseovshadow

  • A curiosity - music from a game Marauder for C64 and Spectrum was based on this bass and guitar line.

  • lol I must have missed that game! Damn

  • sad but true, we spliced a tape together so this tune went on for 15 mins, happy days...happy weed.tho i never bought a 5th always a 8th.lets talk ,,,,Noiseovshadow.

  • cd..? afterhours was released 1984 on the b-side of bod and soul..anyway..

    keep talking

  • It was also released on a compilation "Some BOYS Wander by Mistake" - not by Merciful Release.

  • sonds silly but on hot summer (when we used to get them) sundays totally wrecked after along weekend clubbing in Manchester (cloud 9 ,Berlin ect), this bassline could be herd all over the place..even when you rang a mate up to scave a weed of them it was in the back ground, also and its a bit rude this, but it was good to shag to

  • i don't know how they do this, but they sound dark and mysterious and also so "pshychedelic"

    simply great!!!!!!!

  • wonna try it when your tripping of your nuts ,know thats dark

  • Next you'll be listening to the Swans or Lustmord whilst tripping. lol

  • Upon winning an Ebay auction....I HAVE THE CD!!! of Some boys wonder by mistake....The album is amazing!!!! and a few of the tracks that are just instrumental are cool and Its got the saxaphone intro as a solo piece from Dominion, and the version of dominion that was on the video without the intro bit....sooooooo coooool!!!!!!, no I won't copy it either!

  • i found some vynil singles of the sisters in the trash one day

  • No way! Who would throw those out?!

  • i have no clue but it was an entire bag of goth lp's, the fucking 12 inch of blue monday was in there (i am not fucking making this up) as wel as almost everything of siouxsie some echo & the bunnymen a single from the killing joke 4 albums of the cure one album of joy division and some other stuff. i was flabbergasted but it totaaly kickstarded my vynil collection

    trashday FTW!

  • FUCKIN NICE ONE MATE,noiseovshadow

  • That is awesome!!!! A find like that makes it all the better like buried treasure!!!!

  • Anyone listen to the Eleven Shadows version of this? Pretty good...

  • found a tune called kombai, very nice. where can I find the sister's cover?

  • I believe it is on a tribute disc called "First, Last and Forever".

  • Some Girls Wander by Mistake actually.

  • In fact "Some Girls Wander By Mistake" was released early 90s and it was actually a collection of early 80s stuff, like this.

Amazing work! I really love the "Some Girls" album!

  • Excellent song with heroin in a cemetary at night.

  • oh wow.

    I, oh, I don't even know.

    just wow

  • This song is on the

    "Some boys wander by mistake"

    bootleg album.

  • great song

  • awesome and deep

  • This is my Favorite Sisters song. It's really funny how Andrew does music like this and then gets angry when people label the Sisters as "Goth" lol

This song sounds like a creepy intro to an early 80's horror film.

  • THANK YOU (for posting this)!

  • how can i get this song!???\

Its not on any of their discs is it?

  • It is on the B side of the Body and Soul 12". I alway thought that this would be good in a film.

  • this song is: andrew eldritch!

    he's the only one.

he made it all, and made others similar songs - bury me deep, lights, onthewire, torch...

that´s dark rock with charm, no one did it befere, no one will do it tomorrow.

Warning_ hide knifes before listen to these songs.

  • i met him in Berlin. 1983 in a cafe after aDepeche Mode concert. The venue was called The Metropol if i rememeber. he had a flat in the charlotenbourg district as well as one in hamburg.

  • where can i get a copy of this song? this is one of my FAVORITES!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • I used to listen to this song on my turntable when I was in high school. i would put the the record player on slow motion and listen to it that way,it made it even more creepier.

  • This song is totally about drugs.

Eerie stuff..one of the best SOM songs ever.

    ~K

  • As good as it gets!

  • Love this

  • F@#*in great!! Thanx!!!

  • Song is quite dark and foreboding, but then alot of the Sisters songs are. (sorry Andrew) Lovely picture as well :)

  • The best SOM-Song. Really bad, that the song is only on a maxi single. I don't now anymore which, maybe the Train or Body & Soul Maxi. The darkest song I ever heard in my life.

  • is not SOM 1986

    is SOM 1983

  • Andrew and Patricia: two of the most talented and most beautiful people on the face of the earth. Sisters forever!

  • This was when Eldritch, Marx and Adams (before Hussey joined S.O.M) tweeked the spaghetti western sound. O.G. Sisters at its best. It is sad for those third/fourth generation fans who discredits the influences of the original band mates. Sisterhood 4ever.......

  • This from the same record that features "Body & Soul". It has the blue artwork on the cover. It has, as far as I know, never been digitally converted. It need not be, because on a good turntable, the slight scratchiness just adds to the awesomely ominous sound.

  • yes much like the other records and unrealesed it has been converted and is now a demo cd

  • Is this song from an album? I used to have it on tape but I never knew from what album it was..

  • Ein Wort,genial!!!!!!!

  • oops, I wanted to say "intensive"^^

  • It´s simply heavenly... one of the best and most intense songs I have ever heard.

  • This is my favourite song ever! Thank you!So deep and so goth...

  • Thank's vos2k!!! Do you have temple of love in the first version? (eighties and not 1992??)

  • i do = )

  • Its time for us to go.... 5*

  • Cheers then

  • This is so mad, I looked on You Tube a few days ago for this track because I haven't heard it for years, and I thought I 's look again today, and it is on there. I love this so much, plus their version of Gimme Shelter.
