Ya know if it can take off that quickly maybe they could build a carrier version. I mean the f-35 is costing about the same as this and this is already proven and I'd rather see these on carriers. Just make the wings fold able, stonger landing gear etc.
@nimaside It is a bit more then the landing gear and wings, which those alone would cost a lot on a notoriously expensive aircraft, but there is also a different coating to keep the corrosion down. It already has a tail hook for emergency. Add in the fact that it is a stealth plane where any breaks in the lines can render the stealth useless, so the foldable wings would have to be rethought out. It would be way too expensive when we have the F/A-18E/F which can handle the job just fine.

We are told the Raptor is currently the air superiority fighter in the world with no equal. I have seen some videos and info from people from other countries that claim the Raptor has some competition by fighters from other governments, namely Russia. My question is, honestly, is the US government using propaganda and stretching the truth about the Raptors capabilities or are other governments using propaganda to try to take away from the raptors capabilities and tout their own fighters?

I have seen what the Russians have and they are the equal of the West,probably lacking in avionics but nevertheless the thrust vectoring and airframe are probably the equal albeit the raptor has steath capability. There was allegedly at an airshow by the Russians a direct challenge to the US to a showdown between the raptor and Sukhoi SU30 thrust vectoring fighter...the US refused.

But that, just like that alleged challenge, is just made up fan boy bullshit that never happened. The Su-30 has defeated by the F-15C in 2008. The Russians are not interested in proving what will they already know will happen against the F-22. It's bad for business. Just a friendly reality check from a concerned US aviator. Happy trails.

@skeelo69 There's not really much anyone can say. Sukhoi admits that the aircraft is only semi stealth. They say that the T-50's RCS is 1/8 of the actual size of the aircraft. This would mean that it returns a RCS over 300 times larger than the F-22 (which has an RCS of a steel bb). In regard to maneuverability, it's STR, ITR, and climb rate are roughly that of the Su-30, meaning the F-22 can still outurn it. But it's still young and only a prototype, we'll see how it grows.

@YTBruler1 try reading up on what the Raptor has done at Redflag. Its first exercises out it scored 142-0 and 148-1. That is basically your whole air force taken out by Raptors. The F-15, F-18 and F-16's that have flown against it have gotten raped by it. It isnt just talk and I would gladly take a raptor over anything the Russians are currently flying considering the Raptor has no stores on its wings and is not hindered by them in anyway
@ToonandBBfan No, its not the paint, but the material the airframe is made from itself. And let me tell you, it's EXTREMELY difficult to manufacture. The F-22 also relies on Planform Alignment to maintain its stealthy performance. This feature was first used on the YF-22 and YF-23 and were implemented on the JSF F-35 and even the Sukhoi PAK FA T-50. There are MANY factors an aircraft relies on to maintain stealth. That's why there are only a few stealth aircraft in world.
...now compare to the Eurofighter Typhoon. The F22 is neat 'n' all, but there's something a little bit special about the Typhoon. It has the 'more than the sum of its parts' feature that just happens sometimes.

i don't know the specifics on why, but it does cost 150 million to make 1 F22. It costs about 15 million to make an F15. @F117F16StealthFight That's because an F-22's main purpose is as an air-to-air fighter. It has to have exceptional mobility and that is what makes it the best dog-fighter in the world right now. Both the F-15 and F-18 were built as an all-purpose plane before thrust vectoring was used on western aircraft. Although, thrust vectoring has been added to an F-15 before called the F-15 STOL/MTD or ACTIVE and it did become highly maneuverable.

@WorldStarBeatz There is a lower pressure above the wing than below it (this is what creates lift). When pressure drops, so does the temperature. Warmer air can carry more moisture than cold air. When the air temperature drops, it loses its ability to carry as much moisture so some of it condenses. This is what is formed.

@F117F16StealthFight That's because an F-22's main purpose is as an air-to-air fighter. It has to have exceptional mobility and that is what makes it the best dog-fighter in the world right now. Both the F-15 and F-18 were built as an all-purpose plane before thrust vectoring was used on western aircraft. Although, thrust vectoring has been added to an F-15 before called the F-15 STOL/MTD or ACTIVE and it did become highly maneuverable.

And all Canadians are covered. No one in Canada dies because they can't afford health insurance. No one in Canada loses their home because their medical bills drive them into bankruptcy. And no one in Canada is prevented from paying for whatever they need if they don't or can't wait.

People die on a daily basis waiting for high-tech "appointments". No one system is perfect, Niether is yours. More MRI machines in Pittsburg Pa. than all of Canada.. Not saying it's bad, it has it's own problems as well.

The reason for all those MRI machines was the incredible profit margins in doing MRIs not the lack of machines in Canada. Now that Medicare and the Insurance Monopoly have gotten wise to the racket of ordering MRIs for everything but a split fingernail, all those machines in Pittsburg are sitting, gathering dust.

@removetroIIgroup Oh, it's free healthcare alright. Except for the fact that every canadian has to pay taxes in order to cover the cost for it. Then there's the fact that not every procedure is covered under the free healthcare system. Many times, people who would need surgery to have a better quality of life are denied because they don't need it to live. They can get pills to their eyeballs, but some surgeries are classified as 'not-necessary'.
