This entire albulm helped me thru a very nasty breakup when it came out.It literally saved my life as I wanted to end it due to an exGF.That was when I was 16, I am now 30 and I still turn to it to keep me sane :)

How many songs do you think creepy murderers liked that average people liked as well? Who cares. That fact shouldn't ruin the song for anyone.
The kid was a person too, obviously he was tormented to a point of murder though. And so be it. I couldn't care less about what the kid's favorite song was. I bet he had the same favorite foods as some of us too. He's dead.
Point being: idk, I just fucking love this song. And I just read @Pwnzor729's comment, and agree completely.
@thenewfella1994 Yeah, it does sort of give it a creepy vibe, but think of it this way: is the White Album now ruined because Charles Manson supposedly got his messages from it? Or is Catcher in the Rye ruined because it was Mark David Chapman's favorite book?
There are nut cases all over the place who are inspired by all sorts of things, I'm pretty sure you wouldn't be able to listen to or read much of anything if you let that stuff bother you too much.
I love the Smashing Pumpkins! There music is so melodeous, yet at the same time, they have a wide range of sounds, such as Cherub Rock, 1979 (my favorite) or Mayonaise.
Forget everyone else; The Pumpkins were the best band of the 90's. PERIOD.
It's a shame neally nobody knows about this group cus it's one of the best group I've ever heared and it's not just rock, it's piano(Infinite Sadness, my favourite song!), very calm music and all sort of music.....
I'm really sick of hearing about how Siamese Dreams was The Smashing Pumpkins at their best. Melancholy And The Infinite Sadness, was by far The Smashing Pumpkins bets album ever. I love all of their albums Gish to Teargarden By Kaleidescope, but Melancholy And The Infinite Sadness was the best they have ever made and there is no was to duplicate that sound and that feeling not even if it was still Billy, Jimmy, James, and Darcy because the song and the feeling are gone and will ever be again
that is exactly what i feel nicholsjoshua! man this song brings me back to chillin out in my bedroom feeling completely isolated. Writing in my journal...
Some of SP's best songs are rarities and just regular album, nonsingle tracks like this one.. This is one of my favorites and always will be. It IS Beautiful!
Great song love the transition if you love it too you know which transition I speak of. Also love the lyrics at the end "don't let your life wrap up around you" and "I'll be under your stairs forever." It's a metaphor and very sentimental at the same time, so carrying with the build in music before it, rocks the bees socks, knees, and pajamas rofl I feel the love
"And I'm sure you know me well, as I'm sure you don't." I think this is about each person seemingly connected with others on the surface and everybody think we know each other well, but there are always some parts we keep or hide within us that are unknown to others and could cause misunderstandings or misjudgement between us, which can be described as disconnection.
A reason this somewhat sarcastic, cynical, depressed line always hits me.
@myway43 Indeed it is. I was just a kid when this album was released. I used to sing this to my nephew when he was born before my son came along. My nephew is now 13 and my little boy is 4 1/2.
Wow this song makes me think of a guy I've secretly admired for like a year now. Now he's moving, lol. Oh well, whenever I listen to this song I'll remember him. :)
I had a dream last night I saw the original line up of smashing pumpkins live, I high fived Billy and got to hang out with D'arcy but for some reason there was only less than a dozen people at the concert and this was the only song they played lol I was begging them to play X.Y.U. but they just smiled and walked away...
@Watch4 This song sums up Melancholy And The Infinite Sadness: dark, haunting, hopeful, sad, love, and never having the one you love, but staying strong and fighting for the one you love, realizing that we all die and we have to live the best life we can now. This is Melancholy And The Infinite Sadness
I remember my cousins would overplay the song ' I Swear' by some boy band from the 90s it made me sick all the time... then I bought mellon collie album smashing pumpkins came out around 95 Id blast every song loud! This song Id blast , galapogas too, they get pissed off, hahahaha
Well that shows that you dont appericiate gunge and thats fine, its not for everyone I like SP too but I cant leave dissing Nirvana alone. Or any other grunge for that matter... AIC & SP FTW!!!

@Valentione It's a great song especially when billy takes over (the best part) what happened between you two? You said you missed her i was just wondering why. Heartbreak sucks.
My sister and her husband had their first dance to this song at their wedding reception. It was so romantic. Everyone was moved. Just a fantastic song.

@Valentione It's a great song especially when billy takes over (the best part) what happened between you two? You said you missed her i was just wondering why. Heartbreak sucks.

I really love the instrumentalof this song. That proves how this band is polyvalent and is not fixed to one style, but a variety.

My sister and her husband had their first dance to this song at their wedding reception. It was so romantic. Everyone was moved. Just a fantastic song.
