  • This entire albulm helped me thru a very nasty breakup when it came out.It literally saved my life as I wanted to end it due to an exGF.That was when I was 16, I am now 30 and I still turn to it to keep me sane :)

  • what instrument comes in at 1:51? is that a sitar?

  • @thelonghalloween Nah man thats just guitar, very trebley/twangy tone.

  • this is what you hear in heaven's enviromental sound sytem

  • You know those songs that are so nostalgic and sentimental that its almost hard to listen to them? Yep. This is definitely one of those.

  • You gotta love the expression on the woman's face on the MCIS album cover, it looks like she's thinking "*sigh* Well here I am stuck in another damn star for the millionth time"

  • The girl is Melon Collie, the infinite sadness is that she cant get out of the damn star.

  • i met this album at my most beautiful era in my life.many many thanks corgan thanks band, thanks for this album thnks for your existence. and thanks to 98-01 :)

  • One of the best songs on MCIS.

  • we used this as our wedding song. we were 90s teenagers and it rocked! believe me!!

  • I love this song. I listeneted to it on the airplanes going and coming back from Mardi Gras in N.O. 7 passengers on a 767.

  • i can remember listening to this on a walkman cassette player on a family vacation when i was a kid

  • this album can help suicidal feelings and trigger them at the same time.

  • @thenewfella1994 what the f*ck are you talking about? a murderer's favorite song?

  • i need this album

  • @WAZZUP7227 you should go ou today and buy it. it a revelation! probably one of the best albums ever made!!! go now and buy it!!!!!!!!!!!

  • @otishaywater maybe for my birthday

  • my love dedicated this to me..i think its sublime..its the giver's intent that makes this such a perfect love song..

  • 80s? Do you know anything about music?

  • @tessasenf lol i was gonna say man. maybe he meant the style of the backing track is reminiscent of 80s love songs - i hope so anyway

  • How many songs do you think creepy murderers liked that average people liked as well? Who cares. That fact shouldn't ruin the song for anyone.

The kid was a person too, obviously he was tormented to a point of murder though. And so be it. I couldn't care less about what the kid's favorite song was. I bet he had the same favorite foods as some of us too. He's dead.

Point being: idk, I just fucking love this song. And I just read @Pwnzor729's comment, and agree completely.

  • non dimenticare di chiamare, ogni volta

    saro' qui ad aspettarti.

saro' sotto le tue stelle per sempre.

ne' qui ne' la' solo accanto a te.

saro' sotto le scale per sempre.

ne' qui ne' la' solo accanto a te.

  • @thenewfella1994 Yeah, it does sort of give it a creepy vibe, but think of it this way: is the White Album now ruined because Charles Manson supposedly got his messages from it? Or is Catcher in the Rye ruined because it was Mark David Chapman's favorite book?

There are nut cases all over the place who are inspired by all sorts of things, I'm pretty sure you wouldn't be able to listen to or read much of anything if you let that stuff bother you too much.

  • @thenewfella1994 It was our song long before his. So I lay claim to it.

  • You know, I really hate the beginning of this song, but then it just gets better....

  • @shaboopieful are you serious? this used to be Dylan Kleboid's favorite song? No wonder I was getting a weird vibe when I was listening to this song.

  • @shaboopieful

That is weird O_O how do you know it was his favorite song though?

  • Thumbs up if you noticed that the video is 4:20 minutes long.

  • I love the way this song ends how it just fades, this is a really underated song from Mellon Collie!

  • I love the Smashing Pumpkins! There music is so melodeous, yet at the same time, they have a wide range of sounds, such as Cherub Rock, 1979 (my favorite) or Mayonaise.

Forget everyone else; The Pumpkins were the best band of the 90's. PERIOD.

  • Believe it or not, this is on karaoke in Japan...and I love to sing it.

  • 5 people are not beautiful

  • It's a shame neally nobody knows about this group cus it's one of the best group I've ever heared and it's not just rock, it's piano(Infinite Sadness, my favourite song!), very calm music and all sort of music.....

  • @BlGNerd you should buy the Adore album if you havent already.

  • I love this whole album, i really love how it fades out and he keeps singing even though the song is ending. ;)

  • The Smashing Pumpkins forever in my heart and soul ... <3

  • Love this song.

  • I'm really sick of hearing about how Siamese Dreams was The Smashing Pumpkins at their best. Melancholy And The Infinite Sadness, was by far The Smashing Pumpkins bets album ever. I love all of their albums Gish to Teargarden By Kaleidescope, but Melancholy And The Infinite Sadness was the best they have ever made and there is no was to duplicate that sound and that feeling not even if it was still Billy, Jimmy, James, and Darcy because the song and the feeling are gone and will ever be again

  • truely one of smashing pumpkins best songs, really makes ya just sit and listen ad enjoy music

  • with my face pressed up to the glass. Having someting that you can't have can be agonizing!!!!

  • that is exactly what i feel nicholsjoshua! man this song brings me back to chillin out in my bedroom feeling completely isolated. Writing in my journal...

  • LOVE this song!!!! its actually mine and my fiances song....and it means so much to me since hes now fighting for his life...

@cutelovelylisa im 18 so its not just those that grew up in the 90s...new kids love it too!

  • this song is just so fucking sad but so real and beautiful at the same time, specially when a closed wound has been opened in your heart

  • The girl on the front of this album is silent film star Mary Pickford. I love her movies they are cute and cool at the same time.

  • Some of SP's best songs are rarities and just regular album, nonsingle tracks like this one.. This is one of my favorites and always will be. It IS Beautiful!

  • Great song love the transition if you love it too you know which transition I speak of. Also love the lyrics at the end "don't let your life wrap up around you" and "I'll be under your stairs forever." It's a metaphor and very sentimental at the same time, so carrying with the build in music before it, rocks the bees socks, knees, and pajamas rofl I feel the love

  • I cant help but smile when ever I hear this song :)

I love SP so much <3

  • "And I'm sure you know me well, as I'm sure you don't." I think this is about each person seemingly connected with others on the surface and everybody think we know each other well, but there are always some parts we keep or hide within us that are unknown to others and could cause misunderstandings or misjudgement between us, which can be described as disconnection.

A reason this somewhat sarcastic, cynical, depressed line always hits me.

  • I used to sing this to my little girl when she was a baby

  • @myway43 me too. i sing it to her now too and she's 4. will sing it to her forever :)

  • @myway43 That's adorable and awesome.

  • @myway43 I sang it to my lil niece!! :D

  • @myway43 I used to sing it to my little boy when he was a baby too!

  • @xharleenxquinnzelx It is a beautiful, magical song. My little girl (Who is 14 now) still loves it.

  • @myway43 Indeed it is. I was just a kid when this album was released. I used to sing this to my nephew when he was born before my son came along. My nephew is now 13 and my little boy is 4 1/2.

  • Wow this song makes me think of a guy I've secretly admired for like a year now. Now he's moving, lol. Oh well, whenever I listen to this song I'll remember him. :)

  • I had a dream last night I saw the original line up of smashing pumpkins live, I high fived Billy and got to hang out with D'arcy but for some reason there was only less than a dozen people at the concert and this was the only song they played lol I was begging them to play X.Y.U. but they just smiled and walked away...

  • this and cupid de locke have the coolest intros

  • il be under your stars....forever...

  • Very True .....I think the 80's felt love in a very diffrent way....it was nice and very intense

  • @deadpriest888 It also sucked.

  • @Watch4

    LMAO!!!

  • @Watch4

    Lol!

But I'd rather go through that than the loveless times we are in now.. People have messed it up. They mess up darn near everything. :-/

  • @Watch4 This song sums up Melancholy And The Infinite Sadness: dark, haunting, hopeful, sad, love, and never having the one you love, but staying strong and fighting for the one you love, realizing that we all die and we have to live the best life we can now. This is Melancholy And The Infinite Sadness

  • @deadpriest888 90 s my friend...

  • I absolutely love how James and Billy sing this song together, particularly near the end when Billy takes over.

  • @matrixandraia actually it's D'arcy and Billy

  • lmao@ watch

  • Fuck My Life this song is so awesome!!!!!

    I'm 14, i wish i grew up in the 90's!!!!:((

  • probably one of the greatest songs of all time.

  • from one of the greatest bands of all time.

  • Well that shows that you dont appericiate gunge and thats fine, its not for everyone I like SP too but I cant leave dissing Nirvana alone. Or any other grunge for that matter... AIC & SP FTW!!!

  • Smashing Pumpkins is amazing, Mellon Collie and the Infinite Sadness is truly amazing. I truly believe it is the wall of Generation X. I wish though I was part of Gen x though. The Music now days are just not comparable, the music of the 70s, 80s and 90s are amazing, and I'm living through those eras of music. I love this album, The music flows right through me when i listen to it on my bed at night. Haven't felt this happy in a long time.

  • "And im sure you know me well, as im sure ou dont

    But you just cant tell

who you love and who you dont"

    DAMN! so fu&/(( true!!

  • all song from blue disk final part are so inspired.. i wonder why he decided to put all them together.. there is something, anyway, that latch them each other..

    i'm talking about:

We Only Come Out At Night

    Beautiful

    Lily (My One And Only)

    By StarlightFarewell And Goodnight

    what an incredible album...

  • reminds me of my love.... and the phrase pressed up to the glass actually happened to me a week ago... she was walking by the street and i was inside a friends house, i saw her and i literally stared with my face against the glass for about 1 and a half minutes until i notice the glass was completely tarnished cause of my breath (it was a small window)

  • @IamTheScorchedEarth

    true love?:)

  • @pakingsyet... i guess

  • 1:50 all the way to the end is complete perfection...

  • Let me just take this atvantage to say Shut your mouth about Nirvana and just please continue listening to my favorite band of all time. Leave Nirvana alone.

  • what??? I have to disagree... not to say that radiohead is not good but you can't even compare. They are both great.

  • i love the fading...

  • niehter near nore there just right beside you..=]

  • Beautiful song ;)

    Kisses from Spain :)

  • I have loved this song since I was 15. I know hardly anyone really knows it because it was never played on the radio(I don't think it was anyways). I remember laying on my bed and listening to this with my earphones over and over. It takes me completely back to the day I was on my bed listening to it. My friends were there and I was in another world! lol

  • Ditto: and at 1:50 the change-up is chilling. Perfection

  • @cutelovelylisa Im currently lying on my bed listening to it over and over right now. Definitely one of my favourite songs.

  • @cutelovelylisa They play it on our Grunge station, and our oldies station in Florida hail to the south

  • @cutelovelylisa This is one of my absolute favourites. I used to listen to it over and over, as well.

  • @cutelovelylisa Im only 16 and i love this song. It sucks that most people dont know the Pumpkins amymore. Theyre a Great band. :/

  • I always liked this song, too. I just wish he would've let D'Arcy sing it herself. His voice grates on my nerve fibers, guys.

  • you gotta be killing me.. that's the best part of it. You can't be a real fan of SP if you don't like his voice LOL

  • wooo ninties!!!

  • that's beautiful song,i like this.

  • this album is great yes... but pisces iscariot was by far my favorite.... this song is one of a kind

  • @mesteren666 0_o

  • @igocomando i gota agree, i was born 1984, and copped the 90s in fine form!! some of what i loved most about the 90s was the music

  • @KUPHSER ya man, i was born in 1990 and when i hear certain songs that i havent heard since i was a kid something resonates from deep within me. I think the 90s has been the dopest era since the 70s.

  • @igocomando i was born in '84 too

  • @igocomando YOU MEAN 70'S KID?

  • @igocomando people who were born in the 90's got to experience the 90's in some sort of way too...dont single us out :p

  • @igocomando yes sir, well said.

  • [I] don't think Im going to make albums in the old-fashioned way, meaning 12-15 songs in one small package. My desire at this point would be to release one song at a time, over a period of 2-3 years, with it all adding up to a box set/album of sorts that would also includ an art movie of the album...My thinkin is that if I focus on one song at a time I would approach them as beautiful, distinct paintings that would each require the attention thy deserv. billy corgan on Teargarden by Kaleidyscope

  • haha for some reason, at 2:39 on my version, there's a pop sound. makes me laugh :)

  • Personally i think mellon collie and the infinite sadness was their best album

  • yea, i know its my favorite :P

  • Adore!!!!!

  • i personally think that mellon collie and the infinite sadness is on par with siamese dream, both of them are excellent :)

  • Andres Montes RIP

  • Meilė Lukšienė RIP

  • Just heard this song for the first time. *wipes away tear* totally how I feel for someone. :)

  • Obsessive, unrequited love? I know how you feel.

  • I hope a guy wouldn't sing that to you. srsly, who could pull off billy's songs?

i do lovey this song like a LOT tho xD

  • SLAVESOCORN im her? :)

  • cool

  • 2:03 nanananananana naaa naaa na

  • Yes, 2>1

  • Me too , I thought it sounded like a R&B song at first, kinda put me off so I skipped it and then went back to it and was I wrong. I love this song!

  • Such an under rated song.

I dated a girl for six years at one point...

I sang this to her the night we started dating.

I miss her, and this song reminds me of everything we had.

  • 1:24 to 1:41 reminds me of prince music
