@themcm best there ever was, will be, or can be. shame they are for some reason so underrated. but that leaves them just for us eh? a dirty little secret that only we all know. just like being in a cult... ;)
The song, the character and the video - (Elric) running around is, in a way, the core of the story... Read the books and can only agree. BTW the lyrics got it right: they never talk about it...
Not really, not to us.
Seems Mr. Moorcock has more influence on our culture than we realise. Wonder what they'll say about him in a hundred years?
Wonder if fantasy is doomed to stay in the marginal forever? So many of them have been right...
Nice work. Actually, I havent read any Elric-related things from Moorcock, only things like "An Alien Hat", "The Hollow Land", "The End Of All Songs" and such.
But what I still dont know: What game is the footage taken from? It looks like a MMORPG. But which?
thanks for the kind words. funny thing is that if you read the other books, then they are connected to elric. it's all part of the grand vision known as the multi-verse. you should check them out, and if you liked the books from the dancers at the end of time check out revenge of the rose for a very familiar face.
the game footage i used was in fact from 6 different games. the main one of course being star wars galaxies. the others the movies, guild wars, WoW, dark and light, entropia project
I agree with concreatsledge The rock and roll hall of fame IS a complete joke. The let people like Prince in, but fail to let the true greats in. There is still hope however. BOC is still touring, hopefully they'll be let in when these gods of rock retire.
I cant believe their not already in the hall. The hall is oficially a complete joke now, if it wasnt already, with all the artists they let in that arent even close to rock. Just check out their website. Props anyway though, they completely deserve it.
I will say, it is very well done. In many ways, it embodies what I feel is what most veterans go though. The stress from the fighting left them scarred in more then the body. They have to live with the mental scars from the rest of their lives, fighting to keep sane. Keep up the good work, and may whatever higher being you believe in bless all you do.
I came across this video by accident. All I can say is "WOW!!!!" You did an excellent job with it. I added this to my favorites list. You are an artist.
This is fantastic artistry and a fitting tribute to a great song, great band, and a great author who was just named a Grand Master by the board of directors of the Science Fiction and Fantasy Writers of America! (Nice Stormbringer, too!)
for those who want to read the book connected to the psychic wars, check out "the dragon in the sword" by Michal moorcock. it takes place long after the elric saga, but i thought combining the two would work, and so far it has.
thanks for the comment Webins, and all should check your video out as well. i personally thought the dragons paid better homage to the albino emperor of the dreaming city then my humble admittance, even with it being LOTR...
in a way, they are. addiction can come from many things. the idea is, as i gather. the psychic wars was conducted with a price. like storm bringer making the user of the sword more dependent on it's continued use, the ability's of the mind was a drug as well. it became a trap, and they became frozen, not able to break out of the need to use the power.. so ya, it's basically the same. it's also like a homeless vet who sits around, not able to let go of the past. post traumatic syndrome...
aint it the truth. it's the only band i know of that has a learning curve. thanks for the comment, and don't forget , if you have a myspace to add them to your friends list to get them into the hall of fame.
..I gave this song to a psychiatrist..who 'worked' on me..when I was locked up..and told him it was a song about me..he later told me he "did not think I was a veteran of these wars"..he told me "I was the inventor"..LOL.
we all have had our trials and tribulations in life. when our minds seem to be rebelling against us, when the world becomes surreal and it becomes hard to know just what is and what is not.
the song is about us all at this moment in life. and you were right. but in that time of self doubt. it's about us all.
..amen to that buddy..amen to that..my 'wars' aren't over..they're just being fought..with love and humbleness and forgiveness..on bloodless battlefields..for God..thnx for writing back..
love the band have for years.seen them in st louis in 85.best concert ever.

Nice :) good job adding the guitar solo from the live version it's so uber awesome, imo realy fits better than the studioversion
jessmoh 3 years ago 2
ya, it's my favorite solo as well. and i think it made the story telling much better by adding it. thanks for the comment bro. :)

kosh1968, did you pick up a copy of Elric-The Stealer or Souls yet? Very cool!
I'm glad you made a reference to The Dragon in the Sword at the beginning. That's a great book and a great series. Big thumbs up!

Great work.
You obvioulsy put more emphasis on the "psychic" part, and all the dark thoughts it entails.
Webins 4 years ago 2
indeed, but this was how moorcock meant it.

Listening to the lyrics,it sounds like they're talking about an alcoholic who really, really needs a drink. He's got the shakes.
