Never forget the night he did his show in Junction City,Ar at the school gym. He did his classic`s and this story was tolded to us before it was released on album in 1977. Marcell Ledbetter and all of the family members of his storys will always resonate with me for the rest of my life. God Bless Jerry and the humor he gave us.
@bostonianful Listen to how he says "on the way back to the car I said I'm going to have me some fun out of this Hollywood dude". He was making it seem like Uncle Versie didn't want them to hunt and that he (Jerry) was pissed at him so he was going to kill the mule (Della) for 'revenge'. In actuality, he was just doing Versie a favor. Assuming you probably know what happens in the end...
@superchef78 i still don getit. im gonna have some fun out of this city fella? i dont understand how that makes uncle versie think they didint want them to hunt
@bostonianful It doesn't. Him saying "You know that old scoundrel told me I couldn't hunt on his place" makes him (the city slicker) think that. Jerry was talking to himself saying he 'was going to have some fun'. He made it seemed like he was exacting revenge on Versie.
i grew up listening to jerry my uncle marvin would walk in the door with a stereo in hand playing jerry he woke us all up and we just loved it 1 am was perfect we got the next day off from school and im from michigan go jerry go
He was the last of the REAL comedians. He didnt have to use filth or obscene language to make people laugh. He had a natural humor that came from his rural Depression era childhood, and lasted right on through the rest of his life.
I sure would love to hear the story about when Jerry met the Medal of Honor winner. I think it's called God is Faithfull. I believe it's off the album Top Gum. Can anyone help? Thanks, Mike..... My email is 1gunlinger2@comcast.net.
One of the stories that I also like is "Bill's Vacation" where a guy named Bill meets the Pope. There's another one called "God's Gonna Take Care of Me" when a town is flooded out. oh and "The Coon Huntin' Monkey".
this man is the most funniest guy ever was. i'm 17 and live in mississippi. my mom knew him. so all ya'll damn yankee's and young ppl that dont like him, fuck ya'll! the south will rise again baby yeeehaaww.
Lol, sorry but you're rant on Yankees just makes you sound like a stereotypical redneck. Some southerners think that we Northerners look down on you. We actually don't. And we really don't think about you anymore often than we think of Americans from other parts of the country either. You're just wasting your energy thinking about what we think of you. It's a very one sided relationship when you think about it.
I grew up in Mississippi listening to Jerry. What a great & talented man he was. This is the type of entertainment people need today...........not filth and cutting someone down. Just good Southern humor!
I lived in 'Missippi' for 20 yrs near my in-laws; my late father-in-law reminded me so much of Jerry Clower. I would love to find the story Jerry told about hollering at some dogs to 'git-on-outaheyah' just like Paw said.
he was one of the ALL time greats,i never got to see him in person, but i still think bout him,God bless you,& R.I.P. jerry, thank God we'll get to hear him for eternity...have a blessed day,for posting this,gr8,clean humor...

Coon Hunting story isn't good just because it's funny, it's good because it's an actual story, just like all other Clower's "jokes."
