Never forget the night he did his show in Junction City,Ar at the school gym. He did his classic`s and this story was tolded to us before it was released on album in 1977. Marcell Ledbetter and all of the family members of his storys will always resonate with me for the rest of my life. God Bless Jerry and the humor he gave us.

He was making it seem like Uncle Versie didn't want them to hunt and that he (Jerry) was pissed at him so he was going to kill the mule (Della) for 'revenge'. In actuality, he was just doing Versie a favor. Assuming you probably know what happens in the end...

@bostonianful It doesn't. Him saying "You know that old scoundrel told me I couldn't hunt on his place" makes him (the city slicker) think that. Jerry was talking to himself saying he 'was going to have some fun'. He made it seemed like he was exacting revenge on Versie.

He was the last of the REAL comedians. He didnt have to use filth or obscene language to make people laugh. He had a natural humor that came from his rural Depression era childhood, and lasted right on through the rest of his life.

His life was one big story for the telling!

One of the stories that I also like is "Bill's Vacation" where a guy named Bill meets the Pope. There's another one called "God's Gonna Take Care of Me" when a town is flooded out. oh and "The Coon Huntin' Monkey".
