  • Static stretching has been proven to reduce performance if performed before a workout; HOWEVER its in the realm of 3%. It has been proven to reduce injury (Yes look at SCIENTIFIC research not mens health) So i say do it before and after. Im a fan of AIS mainly. Can really feel that. There was a huge uproar about static stretching being bad for you however the evidence was taken way out of context and exaggerated. You wont explode if you static stretch before you workout. Its in itself a myth.

  • More internet misinformation. If you want to create a change in the length of the muscle you need to stretch cold (cold and in not warming up) and in some rehab cases we actually is ice and stretch.

  • your totaly right in order to increase the range of motion you need to stretch cold and it is the increased range of motion that prevents injury

  • what do i mean by negative muscle tear....Postiive muscle tear is when u tear a muscle in order to increase size resulting in rest and rebuilding of larger muscle....negative tear is when u either over do it rip a muscle to injury where it prevents muscle from functioning correctly. When ur tear ur muscle in a positive form it is called getting ripped for obvious reasons. but anyway Doug ur a smart man keep up good work.

  • warm up by doing about 25% of what u could normally do in an exercise routine then once a light sweat has started and muscles are warm move on to light stretching to the area in which u will be working on once set in routine done move on to next stretch of next area being worked on and so on and so forth. Removes risk of negative muscle tear and serious injury , which will result in loss of time.

  • Double major Human Bio & Nutrition, Also Football Player. Brother is Personal Trainer. Stretching before workout is bad it is actually easier to tear a muscle if u stretch before than if u work stretches into ur workout. Reason ask explained in video is because of ur muscles still being cold. If u start off with light exercises to warm up the body and the muscles u will be working out then stretch a little then move on to more workouts its way better and give u better results.

  • Completely disagree. Stretching before you workout is a great warm up and wake up. Just start stretching with what is comfortable. Never stretch to the point of pain.

  • you don´t know a lot about training. I have been a proffesional thai-boxer for 16 years and the most strange idea i´ve heard is to stretch before worming up. You can jump up and down for a few min, or run but you really should not stretch a cold muscle.
