@YoungViz I absolutely agree with ya! ; ) Ik was also like 7 or 8 when I first got Diablo. I remember asking my friend over coz I was to scared to play it all alone :P Later, I played D2, but the atmosphere was WAY less frightening. And D3 will probably be some sort of D2 clone...
I think we will never be able to experience something like D1 again...

Here's what it may be: 2:40 - In the background are one or multiple snare drums, followed by a gong or large chime of some sort with a low pitch. The subsequent 'spider-like' sound comes from what I believe to be an out of tune musical jack-in-the-box, or perhaps random fingerpicking on a guitar which is modulated with a computer program.

Many of the houses are very run down, having ravens pecking peoples eyes out and worse, demons almost always get into the house! I had to get Paladin Brand Holy Raid four times a day, while this old homeless man was ripping of everyone! But worst of all, one day i was reading "Holy Bolt", and a giant inflamed vagina just opened up right behind my house! Worst home ever!
@pyramidheadkitten9 Hey 30k is 30k no matter how you swing it and with property prices the way they are I'd still recommend Tristram for first-time buyers. I find the smaller demons can be chased away with a sturdy +2 Broom and the giant inflamed vagina keeps kids entertained better than any television- you simply never know what is coming through. Also, The local Cathedral can attend to spiritual needs provided you don't mind being assailed by legions of undead or a demented Arch-Bishop.
Best part is when you go up to Tristram after getting to the first level of Hell and now there's a huge crack in the earth that just says "Down to Hell".
@jeremiahjc If I was Gillian the barmaid or pepin, I wouldn't be able to sleep at night, knowing that creepy crack from Hell is just a few feet away from my house...
this music reminds us of acid spitting hounds, teleporting magicians, succubi with spikey balls, blood knights. the music was subdued because you needed the calming between "pulls". you were fighting for your life and this made the action that much more explosive, much like quiet in movies between action scenes. the monsters made a TON of racket, there was no need for music in your face.

This song reminds me of someone walking through a portal to a new environment of fiery lava and tortured souls circling all around you while you try to flee but then the souls begin to pull you into the ground and you start to see demonic beings torturing the souls of the dying. All of the sudden one of the souls calls your name and you look straight at it his glare pierces into your body as he paralyzes you in place, then torturing your soul until you become evil.
@bobMcFreddyKrugerson Yep but WC 3 is more concentrated around the story, and Warcraft's strategy and StarCraft's strategy is different.Warcraft 3 have Heroes, and you dont need to mass, because heroes can save you, but in StarCraft, you must mass. (Althrough both is RTS Game)
@Columbian89 when you think about, if you mass you don't need as much control over your guys and not much micro is involved while in war3, there is more diverse strategy because of the heroes and the items you bring into battle, and armies are smaller and they require more micro to succeed.
With that said, I haven't played much starcraft as i do warcraft

This sub-genre belongs in the Action Role-Playing. Skyrim and Fallout are PC Style RPGS such as the classic Baldur's Gate. There is no black and white to what is an RPG and what is not. Hence the sub-genres.
when i play stuff like diablo, i wanna feel like im the hero going out and defeating evil and saving humanity myself, and escape from the real world after a days work, not the pixels on the screen..
so if the storyline and soundtrack is garbage, same goes for the game.
I really hope D3 will have the same gritty and dark prescence to it. I hope it will be violent and brutal, with dark atmospheres and the same hellish music. I hope they dont turn it into some kind of childish WoW universe... I also hope the storyline will be good.
diablo 3 looks gay. they made it look like gauntlet 3 or what ever all toony and less blood and looks less evil and music is less evil. and u dont have that little circle of light anymore that made it so dark and unknowing beond it. diablo 1 is the best most evil and most evil music game. forget that happy diablo 2 and specialy 3 crap. remake diablo 1 same music, a few more lvs and bigger world and online multiplayer and better graphics and done perfect. id buy it
Awesome game ! Impossible to finish without an emulator ! I'd cleared the whoel first plan (beat the 4 firsts boss), and the 3 levels of Earth of the second plan... but impossible to beat the firsts levels of Air, Ice or Fire of the second plan !
I remember when I barley started playing Diablo and was scared killing Blood Raven. Now when you see Diablo himself in front of your character thats when i was shitless :)

Especialy not Diablo 3 bc from what I've seen it has great potential even if it's not as dark as the first two games(or three if you count Diablo 2 Expansion Set: Lord of Destruction in). Now, I loved/still loves Diablo 1 and Diablo 2. I've got great memories from D1 ^^. Funny: I have a warrior who wields a bow for his main wep.
@xDoctorKlockx: He's pretty kickass ;D. I think I have leveled him to lv 18 or 20 so far : /. I chose him to be a Multiplayer char so that he could go for Nightmare and Hell difficulty when he's finished with Normal ;). The one thing is though, that whenever I logg of from any Multiplayer char, I have to start all quests over again and I'll have to fight through whole new maps : /. But it allows for replayability I guess and it doesn't bother me all that much hehe ^^. The Diablo series>

this music reminds us of acid spitting hounds, teleporting magicians, succubi with spikey balls, blood knights. the music was subdued because you needed the calming between "pulls". you were fighting for your life and this made the action that much more explosive, much like quiet in movies between action scenes. the monsters made a TON of racket, there was no need for music in your face.

This song reminds me of someone walking through a portal to a new environment of fiery lava and tortured souls circling all around you while you try to flee but then the souls begin to pull you into the ground and you start to see demonic beings torturing the souls of the dying. All of the sudden one of the souls calls your name and you look straight at it his glare pierces into your body as he paralyzes you in place, then torturing your soul until you become evil.

@bobMcFreddyKrugerson Yep but WC 3 is more concentrated around the story, and Warcraft's strategy and StarCraft's strategy is different.Warcraft 3 have Heroes, and you dont need to mass, because heroes can save you, but in StarCraft, you must mass. (Althrough both is RTS Game)

@Columbian89 when you think about, if you mass you don't need as much control over your guys and not much micro is involved while in war3, there is more diverse strategy because of the heroes and the items you bring into battle, and armies are smaller and they require more micro to succeed.
With that said, I haven't played much starcraft as i do warcraft

This sub-genre belongs in the Action Role-Playing. Skyrim and Fallout are PC Style RPGS such as the classic Baldur's Gate. There is no black and white to what is an RPG and what is not. Hence the sub-genres.

when i play stuff like diablo, i wanna feel like im the hero going out and defeating evil and saving humanity myself, and escape from the real world after a days work, not the pixels on the screen..

I really hope D3 will have the same gritty and dark prescence to it. I hope it will be violent and brutal, with dark atmospheres and the same hellish music. I hope they dont turn it into some kind of childish WoW universe... I also hope the storyline will be good.

Awesome game ! Impossible to finish without an emulator ! I'd cleared the whoel first plan (beat the 4 firsts boss), and the 3 levels of Earth of the second plan... but impossible to beat the firsts levels of Air, Ice or Fire of the second plan !

@xDoctorKlockx: Doesn't mean Diablo 3 won't be fun since one haven't played it yet :). No one should judge anything until they've tried it because it's unfair and silly. Especialy not Diablo 3 bc from what I've seen it has great potential even if it's not as dark as the first two games(or three if you count Diablo 2 Expansion Set: Lord of Destruction in). Now, I loved/still loves Diablo 1 and Diablo 2. I've got great memories from D1 ^^. Funny: I have a warrior who wields a bow for his main wep.

@xDoctorKlockx: He's pretty kickass ;D. I think I have leveled him to lv 18 or 20 so far : /. I chose him to be a Multiplayer char so that he could go for Nightmare and Hell difficulty when he's finished with Normal ;). The one thing is though, that whenever I logg of from any Multiplayer char, I have to start all quests over again and I'll have to fight through whole new maps : /. But it allows for replayability I guess and it doesn't bother me all that much hehe ^^. The Diablo series>
