@FuseG4 That's not to say that a Squier won't be worth it. Pick out a good one and let your fingers do the talking. If you like the US made differences, again: Just play it and enjoy it.
I've played both Classic Vibes and US teles a good bit. I've owned 2 squire strats, two squire teles, one MIM tele, one MIM strat, one Highway 1 tele, and currently own a Am. Std. Strat. There have been big differences in every one of them.
the american sounded betterin my opinion...the squir was to "twngy" but thats what i get for looking up a tele...now that could be fixed by some new pickups and it will play and sound like a fender lol
@jmatotek216 I saw a band called In Fear of Olive in Glasgow a couple of month ago and trust me the Classic Vibe Custom is awesome. I was chatting to the band's guitarist after the show and was blown away when he told me it was a stock Squire Telecaster Classic Vibe Custom (same sunburst colour as shown here). Of course the American may have the edge but you will find differences between two American Teles so do not let this fool you.
The neck is too thin. It ruins the whole guitar. There should be a skinny hand-cramping neck on a guitar touting it's classic 50's vibe. It should be a U-shaped baseball bat.
The way i see it if you have the money for an american telecaster, buy a good tube amp instead and get a cheaper guitar. Guitars are so over priced. The real tone is in the amps. A good tube amp will make any guitar sound great. And this is coming from someone who owns fender american tele's, gibson les pauls and a bunch of cheap guitars. my marshall makes everything sound like sex.
the squier sounds twanyer but i mean its the player that makes the guitar sound good... if you give a beginner an american tele it would sound like crap, if you gave a pro a squier it would sound great so unless you "have" to have a fender then just save some bucks and get the squier
These guitars are made by Farida under license from Fender, they are a very good factory who specialise in good quality offshore guitars, they also make most of the cheaper Ibanez range of guitars and a lot of the cheaper end of the Fender acoustics too, they also have their own brand guitars which are excellent value as well.
Im seriously considering one of these to bash about, I've had two USA Fender Teles and they were great but not my thing ultimately for the price I paid.
First of all this guy has no idea Wht tone is this demo is awful.. I bought this gtr and I love it it sounds great!! And most people don't know tht Leo Fenders original telecaster design was to uses Pine wood for the body ... this thing is amazing for the price it's not a us custom shop but u can deff make it work
@brainstormer9 I dropped mine on a wooden stage, it has a scuff mark on there, but its very light. you cant notice it from a distance. I thought that it was going to have worse damage but its fine. these guitars are solid. I do have to say that the Fender sounds better in this comparison though.
The Squier sounds closer to what I think a typical Tele should sound like--if that makes sense. At about 1/3 of the price of a US Standard Tele the CV is a real bargain.
My impressions after watching this video once..... The US standard sounded much fatter with greater low end. I also believe the output of the pickups was also a bit higher, which may have exaggerated this difference a bit further. The Squire Classic Vibe has a very nice ring to the higher notes. I believe the thinner (less low end) tone may have led it to sound a bit 'harsher' with a more formidable bite than the US standard, which was more chunky with overdrive.
The Standard US had a woodier, more natural tone, the Squier sounded more synthetic on the lower end. The highs, I thought Squier had a nice airiness to it, while the standard sounded a little sterile in comparison. With overdrive, the Standrd also sounded much better. I'd have to say the Squier does not sound bad at all. I think I'll get one of these, or one of those thinlines. Great comparison.
@danpolicarpo I tested them and guitar center and this is the exact impression i got, the Squire's woods aren't as good. i think the pickups are pretty good though
@tynitty516 The strats are 2-3 pieces of Solid Alder. The Classic Vibe Custom tele ( Binding/rosewood) is also alder, while the thin line tele is Mahogany
@MrCptGonzo I know that ! and usually it is made from walnut, not rosewood. Not all necks have a skunkstripe, depending on the technique used to insert the trussrod. What I'm talking about is when you look the neck from the back, you can see the rosewood from the fretboard, on each side. On a well carved neck, you never see the rosewood from the fretboard when looked from back.
I am a luthier. What makes a guitar feel good on playing is the quality of the neck wood, the leveling of fretboard and frets. Squier necks are a lot more inferior in quality then Fender cusom shop. Sometimes, the neck do not have a linear curve, they sometimes curve more near the neck pocket. Sometimes, the neck got twisted after 1 or 2 years (wood not correctly dried). The string nut is aweful in 50% of the time, as the fret job too. The fretboard is not leveled at all. Once this corrected: OK
@thierrydude you are so right man! my guitar teacher has a $1'800 fender tele, and he played a squier tele classic vibe and he said everything about the squier was better
Fender(squier whatever)has a great guitar here(for the price, pine body with alnico 3 pups)) *except* that they insist on drenching their guitars in shiny plastic goo.YUCK!They should be more responsible.
I'd take my sander to it and make it proper because they sound really good for the price point.Shame about the polluting goop though.,..
all Telescasters are made by Mexicans, machined in carona California, sent 40 miles down the road to Mexico ,painted ones with MIM assembled there in Mexico, the others brought back to Corona and assembled, as far as wood Alder is cheaper than pine here where i live, Superior grade Alder $3.40 BF, Pine $4.50
The Squier Classic Vibe sounds more compressed and smooth while the American classic sounded more punchy with a sharper attack and with scooped mids/bigger lows...which makes sense since the Squier has a pine body and alnico 3 pickups.
i was going to buy the squier telecaster classic vibe...
this is my first guitar well first electric guitar, ive been playing acoustic for some years and wanting to get an electric.. i love the sound of tele's so i was thinking of getting it.. would u recommend?
instead of getting a mexican standard would it be and idea to get the squier and upgrade to american pickups and schaller locking tuners for like20 dollars more?
I think the electronics and the whole package of the American make for a thicker, warmer and "more expensive" tone. Having said that, I'd like to hear the Vibe with the American Standard pups. I've played the Squier and I can tell you it plays sweet and is very well built.
The CV tele is a realy nice guitar, it's great to play, looks good, and is a nice little work horse. You don't have to change anything but the imput jack as the one that is there WILL fail. I also have a 93 custom shop ltd ed' strat and both guitars get used often. The CV is a pro instrument well worth the money, if you don't want to pay fender prices but want a quality instrument you can count on get the CV, the difference is minimal and nothing a decent amp won't put right.
pups sound thinner on the vibe but thats what you are paying for in the standards, a hotter pup set, spend $200 bucks on the 52 re-issue pups and throw them in the vibe then test them out......
It depends on the sound you like. The Squier is much more tangly and sharp, but also has that plastic-cheap sound quality. The Fender 52 reissue sounds more classic, and for me its clearly better than the Squier. But the squier it's a good pick too.
If you swap the pickups on the Classic Vibe you have spent around $500? You can pick up an American Tele on Craigs list or eBay for around $600 - $650. . I think the C Vibe is a fantastic sounding guitar like it is. . but an American made Tele might hold its value better over the long haul.
Just picked up a CV Tele. If I'm not a professional musician, and I won't get to play more than 15-30 min a day, why spend the extra cashola just to say I've got a true Fender? My amateur ass likes the sound of the Squier fine enough. Coupled with a Roland Micro Cube, what more do I need?
The CV is very impressive. . lots of bang for the buck but the American does seem to have a bit of a thicker sound, just a bit? Is this the case or is it my ears as sound can be such a subjective thing. I am very impressed with the C Vibe. I thought the CV's were alder and that there is another Squire that is in pine? So I am corrected on that one. I like the idea of pine. .it has it's own light weight resonant quality to it.

i have a squier affinity telecaster , suitable for beginners of all ages . and it is the best telecaster i have ever come across , and has seen of an american standard (, a lite ash tele (korean) a mexican standard, and i just got a classic vibe today and it;s a lovely guitar but the affinity sounds richer , more woody , and full of character , it;s a voodoo magic guitar . it gets that early francis rossi tone , which is a great tone , and just has more of that tele quack. .
snobs slag squiers having never owned one and to justify paying over the odds for an inivariably over rated overpriced fender guitar . don't let them bullshit you , there;s gems and there;s turkeys . regardless of label. let your ears decide . amp , settings and the player are huge factors of course. the baja teles are peachy , and probably the best for the money . i may have to change the pick ups on the classic vibe , they lack depth , and yet some say they are great,? go figure
I have a CV Tele just like this one and I put Seymour Duncan Antiquity Tele pickups and Schaller locking tuners on it and it sounds as good as anything Fender is doing today. The pickups on the stock model are its only limitation. I like the locking tuners as a personal preference, but has very little to do with sound as the pickups do.
@JohnLennonVideos86 no you pay more money for the fender because it says fender on it the classic vibe series has the same features at the american made fender it even has high quality pickups the only diffrence is the fender had a lil more attention put into the setup and even though i know your gonna say im wrong or your gaonna call me a fag the fact remains that how a guitar is set up plays a big role in how good or bad the guitar will sound
@WoWintosh do your self a favor and pickup a book or two theres no way a setup cant effect the sound of the guitar by changeing the setup you are changeing the way the string interacts with the fret changeing the way the pickup senses the strings its been know for years that a high action and big strings produce a fatter sound and thats just one of a million examples on how a set up can change the sound and tone of an instrument but what do i know im just a guitar tech
@Danthehorse Not as much as they'd have you believe. There are plenty of cases of master luthiers building phenomenal guitars out of average woods. Also many cases of pros using lower end guitars because they sound good. Then there's the other extreme, where you or someone else will pick up a US Fender or Gibson and it's just an absolute dog.
As many have said, your own ears are the real factor, not overinflated brandsnob opinions or the notion that price=quality.
@MegaGuitarboss The Classic Vibe is made out of Pine and the Fender American out of Alder wood. That's one of the reasons why the tones are so different on each of these. This is a stupid comparison as the tonal qualities in each guitar are going to obviously have different characteristics. I agree that the set up has a lot to do with the sound coming out of the guitar. Adjusting pickup heights can change the sound of the guitar dramitically for better or for worse, which is part of the setup.
The squier seems to have a brighter tone and perhaps a little tinney...but a nice guitar for the money. A few upgrades with tunners, and pickups you have a good deal guitar..thanks for the video
I have this exact model of Squier Classic Vibe 50's Tele... The pickups were the weak point on the guitar, though not that bad realy. I swapped them out for a pair of Seymour Duncan Antiquity I 50's hand wound pickups. This is now my favorite guitar. The playability and look is there, and now with the Antiquities, it sounds better and plays better than most guitars on the market. Over all cost was $500 for what is worth over a grand in a similar model American made Tele from Fender.
This fall I'm finally going to learn how to play the guitar (I'm being realistic, and in order to learn I have to study, and maybe a year from now I'll be capable of playing 'something'). I have a lot of options for my first guitar, but I don't want a cheap-ass piece of sh*t, that will break as soon as I start playing it (have red some bad things about Harley Benton). I just love the Blues and classic rock from 60's and 70's, so that is what I want to learn. Is the Squier Classic good for me or?
@Juustokauppias Go Epiphone Dot . you will not be dissapointed. i bought mine about 6 months ago and its turned out great. nicely built and in vintage sunburst it looks the part too . it is more expensive than any squire though.
@Juustokauppias The thing I like about the Fender series if guitars is the thinner fretboard. I find it easier to play, and more forgiving then the Gibson/Epiphone series of guitars. I have a Les Paul, and it rarely comes out of its case. Just my opinion. I'm not a super star or anything. Been playing for about 17 years. It's preference. I just like the playabilty of the Strat/Tele a bit more. Good Luck.
Thanks for the response! I would also like to ask a few more questions. It looks like the pickups are 'bolted' intro the guitar, and therefore difficult to change them if needed, so are they or..? I'm also skeptical about the two single coil pickups, for I have red that humbuckers are better for playing the blues, and they are more reliable and better in every way, or am i just wrong with everything I just said?
It is evident that the USA has the better tone, you need to judge it by presence, the USA is more 'there' more 3D. You would have to change out the hardware to approach that with the Squier but i am by no means being down on them, they are good for the money and you can get darn close by modding them.
i think is sucks becuse i hear the sound of it vs. the usa tele and the usa tele just take it by miles... such a far out much better guitar then all squires, i own 2 squires the standard strat and the espirit (prs look-a-like) and they both suck no matter what amp i use the sound and playability are horrible, they are cheap guitars for begginers and not more then that on stage i will never take a squire.
@israeldogfather It seems from most of the reviews I have seen read heard that the difference is not "by miles" in any way... well it might be "by inches".
I am a fan of the real deal man, dont take me wrong, but its not the GUITAR that makes this "miles" difference ...its the PLAYER that does this and of course a good professional set up and amplifier.
Probably if you cant make it sound, the standard squier, its most of your skills and feel problem or maybe the kind of music you are into.
@wildhorsestudios1421 i dont have the wrong one, they are all the same, shitty woods shitty asembly and cheapest metirials around and absuloty made in china, all squires are toys, there good for beginers but not more then that.
Squiers can be toys in the hands of an inexperienced player but might be musical instruments to the hands of a proper one. So dont blame the guitar but yourself.
I am not saying this as the "proper player" I am not even my self one but I definitely can get the spirit while you dont
@SqiroS22 Spiro, excellent advice. I'm a mechanic by trade and when I was a young one, I wanted to buy every tool I could get my hands on, until a very seasoned mechanic told me "You can buy thousands of dollars worth of tools, but if you can't use them, you might as well shove them......." I'm sure you get the rest of the sentence! Good wisdom.
@SqiroS22 Squiers website says the classic vibe tele is made out of "pine" so I'm not sure what squier tele you are referring to that is made out of Alder but not the one in this video, which is a classiv vibe 50's.
@israeldogfather they don't suck, just plug a squier into a choice amp and it totally rocks! besides, Fender freaking cost like $1000 while you can get a squier for 380(at most). Don't let the name Squier fool you into thinking that it sucks.
Just came back from the store, having compared the two. I honestly could not tell much difference. And I tried to. Then I grabbed an American Special, which runs $300 more than the MIM and more than $400 than the CV. Still could not tell the difference in sound or playability. (I swear I am not tone deaf.) The maple fretboard on the Special was cleaner and prettier, but not $300 prettier.
hey guyz help me out pls! i wanna buy this guitar but it's body is made from pine tree and a good guitarist told me that i have to stay away from guitars with pine tree it will get worse in years. and since this is gonna be my first tele i wanna keep it forever so some1 using this baby for some time can give me some advices? since he told me that i started looking at squier tele custom :/
sound is a matter of taste and taste is not cast in stone. people with lots of dough have several guitars to have access to different sounds. i like the 52 because it sounds robust and the white one sounds thin in comparison but of course if you are a one guitar man it will grow on you either the 52 or the squier. you get used to either robust or thin. same if you are a one woman man, you learn to get the best of her.
I just bought one of these. LOVE IT!. I was in the music store buying a studio mic and tried the american tele's and then the regular Squiers (junk) but when I tried the CV series (last one there) I couldn't walk away. This guitar is beautiful. If the pickups were crap, I'd swap em' out but they sound pretty good. I also have a '72
Strat and this CV compliments it really nice. My biggest critisizm is that it has "made in China" stamped on it.
The grounding prob is just that. A grounding problem. Its not inherent of a single coil. its just the pickups that are in it. Switch it out with some better pickups and make sure you get a good ground to the bridge plate. I put an extra bit of solder on the wire under the bridge. That'll do it.
I have aquired a telecaster cv but i have some ground noises. They disapear as soon i touch the strings or metal parts. Does anyone have the same problem? or do you advise any simple solution?
The guitar really sounds fantastic but when i stop playing and leave hands from the guitar... ; /
@MrODiabo It's a part of single-coil pickups. Unless you get noiseless pickups, you'll get these sounds. If you put the selector switch in the middle, you'll get no hum.
Classic Vibes are incredible, I have the fortune of having a '60 Strat wich has exactly what I haven' t found in any american "normal" Strat, in stores, coming from my Dad' s perfect '64 Fiesta Red... CV are better crafted, the assembly, the finiture, they arrive perfectly setted-up (octaves f.e.), they look, feel and play better than more expensive Strats. If I had some money, I would like to buy every model, basses included, they also are amazing! We are so happy with our cheap instruments!!!!
To my ears, the 52 sounds muted and dead. Yes it may show a tad bit more output, but the character is not there. I'm hearing nice resonance and wood in the CV, clearer tone as well. Too bad its being shown slightly out of tune to the 52.
I own both a '52 AVRI and now a CV tele. To give my opinion - they both sound great. The CV plays better, to me. This would be the 9.5 radius compared to the 7.25 on the 52. My CV is very heavy, unfortunately, but it played to nicely I had to buy it. The guitars are very comparable and, for the price, you can't beat the CV!
The Squire Classic vibe sounds more like a traditional tele...it get's my vote. The string balance is superb w/the accent in the highs and upper highs...just like a tele. The 52 tele seems to have an augmented low-mid response...NOT what you want when you want to record a true tele tone!
I own the Classic Vibe 60's Tele and I think it's a real sleeper. It has that nice bright vintage Tele sound. People may laugh at this guitar because it's a Squier but I heard Fender had to step up quality on the MIM models because people were buying the Classic Vibes instead.
cant really compare the 2 considering they have a different body wood, which makes the most difference in a guitar, but im all for the squiers jangly pine sound at a great price.
The CV sounds like it has more of what what comes to mind when I think of "the Telecaster sound". Thinner and twangy'er. They both sound good, but if I'm going to get a Tele, it'll be for that distinctive Tele sound, and I think the CV has more of it, at a better price.
Its funny, whilst the american telecaster sounds a bit better, does it really sound $700 better ? Its rdiculous the price the american standards go for.
They sound just like I figured. The US mosel is modern sounding and the Squier is the old time twanger, thats why its called the "vintage vibe". I like them both. The us ones I have, some day when I have the money I'll have to get one of those CV's. Good video, and respectable demo. Thanks
One of the key things i look for in guitars is a smooth fast neck. I picked up the classic vibe cream tele at a store and imediately grew to the glossed smooth neck. I asked him if he had any american standard teles. I tryed a few of those out and none of them has the smoothness and playability of the classic vibe tele. consequently, i bought the classic vibes tele.
I hear ya on the Squire snob. I always thought they were complete junk. I picked up the Vintage Tele today and was impressed! I think I might have to get one for Christmas.
you get what pay for buddy. eventually you'll get the real thing and see for yourself. on that note, I've had my share of tele's including a vintage and you can tell the quality built in by how they play and age. But right now the best bang for your buck is the American Highway 1 Tele, this thing will blow anything out of the water. Check them out.
US Tele - fuller, yes. But that doesn't mean it IS better. the Am Std sounded like if it was thru compression. I prefer the twangy-ness of the Squier, sounded way more Tele to me.
The CV is a cool guitar. Mine is 1 year old now and the frets look like shit..for 1 year anyway. I have 5 guitars so it hasen´t been used that much. So I think the parts..eletronics and mechanics is not at the same level as a US tele, but comparing new ones you can´t tell..
finally a review you don't hear often...thx man for the excellent fret review. This is what matters to me, that I don't waste money on a good guitar that only lasts 1 year(and then extra money in fret change). I have the same issue on my Ibanez s320 (poor fret material...wears out fast)
I honestly cannot hear that much of a difference in tone to justify the difference in price. the US tele sounds a little fuller, that's it. Nothing a change in pickups probably couldn't fix.
I need to try out a Squier Classic Vibe Tele. I'm thinking of buying a Tele, and this might be the one.
they will be fine thou if ur going for a squire then get the start,
thats not to say that a tele would be a bad the dude from slipknot uses a tele and thats not what would be considerd normal use of a tele its more about how you use it then what the guitar is
Things you get with an american Fender that you don't get with a Squier:
1) neck shapes. The US "C shape" and Squier C feel a little different! The US standard ones have a rolled edge. Try it and decide for yourself.
2) frets: US guitars have smoother dressing on the fret ends, and often better fret crowning.
3) neck finish. Squier's satin feels different from Fender's satin finish. Fender's is smoother! Squier's gloss feels tackier.
You can't read a spec sheet and say two guitars are the same.

These pickups really need height adjustment to shine. Raise the bass end of the bridge pickup especially, and that may get you closer.
I must say, I don't hear £600 difference.

Again, just chect the neck thickness. It is not always linear. Sometimes, when you look at the neck from back, you can see the rosewood.
thedistortedguitar1 1 year ago
@thedistortedguitar1
Uh...the rosewood that you can see from the back is the so-called "skunkstripe" which is used to insert the trussrod into the neck.
MrCptGonzo 1 year ago
@MrCptGonzo I know that ! and usually it is made from walnut, not rosewood. Not all necks have a skunkstripe, depending on the technique used to insert the trussrod. What I'm talking about is when you look the neck from the back, you can see the rosewood from the fretboard, on each side. On a well carved neck, you never see the rosewood from the fretboard when looked from back.
thedistortedguitar1 1 year ago
@thedistortedguitar1
Now I get what you mean.
MrCptGonzo 1 year ago
Sometimes, the bridge is not properly aligned, sometimes, the neck have a side curve. The neck pocket is not always precisely carved, its rocks.
thedistortedguitar1 1 year ago
I am a luthier. What makes a guitar feel good on playing is the quality of the neck wood, the leveling of fretboard and frets. Squier necks are a lot more inferior in quality then Fender cusom shop. Sometimes, the neck do not have a linear curve, they sometimes curve more near the neck pocket. Sometimes, the neck got twisted after 1 or 2 years (wood not correctly dried). The string nut is aweful in 50% of the time, as the fret job too. The fretboard is not leveled at all. Once this corrected: OK

Hello, Thank you for doing this comparison. If you close your eyes you would not know which guitar you liked best.
FACT: Most musicians listen with their eyes.
FACT: Most musicians know what they have heard about something is true without playing it or hearing it.
FACT: Anybody will tell you that the Squier is an inferior product without knowing anything about it.
FACT: There is NO magic to the sound of a machine-made bolt-on neck Fender type guitar.
Spend more time enjoying the instrument.

Fender(squier whatever)has a great guitar here(for the price, pine body with alnico 3 pups)) *except* that they insist on drenching their guitars in shiny plastic goo.YUCK!They should be more responsible.
I'd take my sander to it and make it proper because they sound really good for the price point.Shame about the polluting goop though.,..
spentonmediocrity 1 year ago
all Telescasters are made by Mexicans, machined in carona California, sent 40 miles down the road to Mexico ,painted ones with MIM assembled there in Mexico, the others brought back to Corona and assembled, as far as wood Alder is cheaper than pine here where i live, Superior grade Alder $3.40 BF, Pine $4.50
j1942okie 1 year ago
The Squier Classic Vibe sounds more compressed and smooth while the American classic sounded more punchy with a sharper attack and with scooped mids/bigger lows...which makes sense since the Squier has a pine body and alnico 3 pickups.

I think the electronics and the whole package of the American make for a thicker, warmer and "more expensive" tone. Having said that, I'd like to hear the Vibe with the American Standard pups. I've played the Squier and I can tell you it plays sweet and is very well built.
jimmy5634 1 year ago
The CV tele is a realy nice guitar, it's great to play, looks good, and is a nice little work horse. You don't have to change anything but the imput jack as the one that is there WILL fail. I also have a 93 custom shop ltd ed' strat and both guitars get used often. The CV is a pro instrument well worth the money, if you don't want to pay fender prices but want a quality instrument you can count on get the CV, the difference is minimal and nothing a decent amp won't put right.
cmgill2 1 year ago
pups sound thinner on the vibe but thats what you are paying for in the standards, a hotter pup set, spend $200 bucks on the 52 re-issue pups and throw them in the vibe then test them out......
freesoulvw 1 year ago
It depends on the sound you like. The Squier is much more tangly and sharp, but also has that plastic-cheap sound quality. The Fender 52 reissue sounds more classic, and for me its clearly better than the Squier. But the squier it's a good pick too.
ClyderSkyner 1 year ago
If you swap the pickups on the Classic Vibe you have spent around $500? You can pick up an American Tele on Craigs list or eBay for around $600 - $650. . I think the C Vibe is a fantastic sounding guitar like it is. . but an American made Tele might hold its value better over the long haul.

Just picked up a CV Tele. If I'm not a professional musician, and I won't get to play more than 15-30 min a day, why spend the extra cashola just to say I've got a true Fender? My amateur ass likes the sound of the Squier fine enough. Coupled with a Roland Micro Cube, what more do I need?
bengaltiger96 1 year ago
Anyone know how the action on the Squier compares to the Standard? Or any other Fender for that matter?
BobaFart1138 1 year ago
The CV is very impressive. . lots of bang for the buck but the American does seem to have a bit of a thicker sound, just a bit? Is this the case or is it my ears as sound can be such a subjective thing. I am very impressed with the C Vibe. I thought the CV's were alder and that there is another Squire that is in pine? So I am corrected on that one. I like the idea of pine. .it has it's own light weight resonant quality to it.
74LesPaul 1 year ago
@74LesPaul i've heard that the Squier comes with 250K pots. Changing them with 500K gets you a thicker sound.

i have a squier affinity telecaster , suitable for beginners of all ages . and it is the best telecaster i have ever come across , and has seen of an american standard (, a lite ash tele (korean) a mexican standard, and i just got a classic vibe today and it;s a lovely guitar but the affinity sounds richer , more woody , and full of character , it;s a voodoo magic guitar . it gets that early francis rossi tone , which is a great tone , and just has more of that tele quack. .

snobs slag squiers having never owned one and to justify paying over the odds for an inivariably over rated overpriced fender guitar . don't let them bullshit you , there;s gems and there;s turkeys . regardless of label. let your ears decide . amp , settings and the player are huge factors of course. the baja teles are peachy , and probably the best for the money . i may have to change the pick ups on the classic vibe , they lack depth , and yet some say they are great,? go figure
twelvemeister 1 year ago
I have a CV Tele just like this one and I put Seymour Duncan Antiquity Tele pickups and Schaller locking tuners on it and it sounds as good as anything Fender is doing today. The pickups on the stock model are its only limitation. I like the locking tuners as a personal preference, but has very little to do with sound as the pickups do.

the fender is the better of the two. Thats why you pay more money....
JohnLennonVideos86 1 year ago
@JohnLennonVideos86 no you pay more money for the fender because it says fender on it the classic vibe series has the same features at the american made fender it even has high quality pickups the only diffrence is the fender had a lil more attention put into the setup and even though i know your gonna say im wrong or your gaonna call me a fag the fact remains that how a guitar is set up plays a big role in how good or bad the guitar will sound
MegaGuitarboss 1 year ago
@MegaGuitarboss
Setup has nothing to do with the sound and squiers have bad pickups. Fender has mastered the art of the single coil.
WoWintosh 1 year ago
@WoWintosh do your self a favor and pickup a book or two theres no way a setup cant effect the sound of the guitar by changeing the setup you are changeing the way the string interacts with the fret changeing the way the pickup senses the strings its been know for years that a high action and big strings produce a fatter sound and thats just one of a million examples on how a set up can change the sound and tone of an instrument but what do i know im just a guitar tech
MegaGuitarboss 1 year ago
@MegaGuitarboss I repsect your point of view, make good sense. Just a thought though, Fender use top quality woods that play a part yeah?
Danthehorse 1 year ago
@Danthehorse Not as much as they'd have you believe. There are plenty of cases of master luthiers building phenomenal guitars out of average woods. Also many cases of pros using lower end guitars because they sound good. Then there's the other extreme, where you or someone else will pick up a US Fender or Gibson and it's just an absolute dog.
As many have said, your own ears are the real factor, not overinflated brandsnob opinions or the notion that price=quality.
tcinpa37 1 year ago
@MegaGuitarboss The Classic Vibe is made out of Pine and the Fender American out of Alder wood. That's one of the reasons why the tones are so different on each of these. This is a stupid comparison as the tonal qualities in each guitar are going to obviously have different characteristics. I agree that the set up has a lot to do with the sound coming out of the guitar. Adjusting pickup heights can change the sound of the guitar dramitically for better or for worse, which is part of the setup.

@Juustokauppias Go Epiphone Dot . you will not be dissapointed. i bought mine about 6 months ago and its turned out great. nicely built and in vintage sunburst it looks the part too . it is more expensive than any squire though.
hypertom95 1 year ago
@Juustokauppias The thing I like about the Fender series if guitars is the thinner fretboard. I find it easier to play, and more forgiving then the Gibson/Epiphone series of guitars. I have a Les Paul, and it rarely comes out of its case. Just my opinion. I'm not a super star or anything. Been playing for about 17 years. It's preference. I just like the playabilty of the Strat/Tele a bit more. Good Luck.
sledhead7969 1 year ago
Thanks for the response! I would also like to ask a few more questions. It looks like the pickups are 'bolted' intro the guitar, and therefore difficult to change them if needed, so are they or..? I'm also skeptical about the two single coil pickups, for I have red that humbuckers are better for playing the blues, and they are more reliable and better in every way, or am i just wrong with everything I just said?

MrODiabo 1 year ago
It is evident that the USA has the better tone, you need to judge it by presence, the USA is more 'there' more 3D. You would have to change out the hardware to approach that with the Squier but i am by no means being down on them, they are good for the money and you can get darn close by modding them.
Danthehorse 1 year ago
i think is sucks becuse i hear the sound of it vs. the usa tele and the usa tele just take it by miles... such a far out much better guitar then all squires, i own 2 squires the standard strat and the espirit (prs look-a-like) and they both suck no matter what amp i use the sound and playability are horrible, they are cheap guitars for begginers and not more then that on stage i will never take a squire.
israeldogfather 1 year ago
@israeldogfather It seems from most of the reviews I have seen read heard that the difference is not "by miles" in any way... well it might be "by inches".
I am a fan of the real deal man, dont take me wrong, but its not the GUITAR that makes this "miles" difference ...its the PLAYER that does this and of course a good professional set up and amplifier.
Probably if you cant make it sound, the standard squier, its most of your skills and feel problem or maybe the kind of music you are into.

Just came back from the store, having compared the two. I honestly could not tell much difference. And I tried to. Then I grabbed an American Special, which runs $300 more than the MIM and more than $400 than the CV. Still could not tell the difference in sound or playability. (I swear I am not tone deaf.) The grounding prob is just that. A grounding problem. Its not inherent of a single coil. its just the pickups that are in it. Switch it out with some better pickups and make sure you get a good ground to the bridge plate. I put an extra bit of solder on the wire under the bridge. That'll do it.

We are so happy with our cheap instruments!!!!
ulissegarnerone 1 year ago
To my ears, the 52 sounds muted and dead. Yes it may show a tad bit more output, but the character is not there. I'm hearing nice resonance and wood in the CV, clearer tone as well. Too bad its being shown slightly out of tune to the 52.
notsoflexibleflyer 1 year ago
I own both a '52 AVRI and now a CV tele. To give my opinion - they both sound great. The CV plays better, to me. This would be the 9.5 radius compared to the 7.25 on the 52. My CV is very heavy, unfortunately, but it played to nicely I had to buy it. The guitars are very comparable and, for the price, you can't beat the CV!
jenton70 1 year ago
The Squire Classic vibe sounds more like a traditional tele...it get's my vote. The string balance is superb w/the accent in the highs and upper highs...just like a tele. The 52 tele seems to have an augmented low-mid response...NOT what you want when you want to record a true tele tone!

One of the key things i look for in guitars is a smooth fast neck. I picked up the classic vibe cream tele at a store and imediately grew to the glossed smooth neck. I asked him if he had any american standard teles.
