Lol....what a funny geezer!!! I've been there about 4 times and i must say thats the first time i heard someone speak English that fluently in Tangiers.

As an old Tangaoui, I find him endearing and yet quite wrong in many aspects of his "tour" He does represent, however, a large segment of the Moroccan population in his manner, his speech and his view of the world around him. He means to please tourist by sounding knowledgeable and yet he's a testament against illiteracy. Imagine if this man was educated. I think that the tragedy of Illiteracy.
Such a naturally intelligent man; but you can hear that his knowledge is disorganized and haphazard and hence faulty and missleading. The so-called Jebala are in their origins Berber as well. except that they were Arabized because of their proximity to large towns. Most Moroccans are a comibination of Arab-Berber.
No conversation or dialogue should continue unless there's civility. The use of facts to support one's opinion greatly enhances the exchange of views. And this, of course, is how Tangaouis are: civil, courteous, respectful of others. Remember: Tanga, is not just a city, it is also an idea, a dream. Its people should refect it in a positive way. Remember Ibn Batuta!
If you have some history background, you will come to understand that our region has a lot of movement of people, not by choice but by the facts imposed by the course of history.
The names of places never changed, the faces of people occupied the land influence the change on our region the North of Morocco.
what made the changes? the constant influx of refugees from Al-Andaluse for over 400 years.
Then we are the offspring's (most of us)of those refugees from Al-Andaluse.
I wish I could correct him somehow. PLEASE DON'T BELIEVE THIS GUY. the desert is 1000 miles away. we dont have berbers, we have Jbala, they are arabs, speaking arabic better than middle Easterbebers, but, they dont came to Tangeir to do the market(souk). it is far away where they live.ners. I am from tangier. This guy make me quench in my skin, because he is so ignorant, uneducated person giving a lecture about people, tradition and costumes of a contry to a foreigner.ALL WAS SAID IS BULL SHIT, TRYING HARD TO MAKE A LIVING IN TANGIER.
como me gustaria recorrer las calles de Tanger , dicen que es preciosa y su gente super amable , saludos a tod@s los TANGERIN@S !!!

zzef1970, you are wrong in depicting JBALA,
Yourself needs a history lesson about our region.
In my own dialectal language, I can not call a thing or verb other than Arabic description to it.
Where you learn your history description about a people? never mind it origin's. maybe from a French book?
