  • I happen to Worship Her. I only met her yesterday and fell in love immediately so... I had to make Her a Gift, which is above. Someone SAID it was her, i sure hope it is! HaHa. Darn it.. WHY do some women have to look so GOOD? Do not they realize a Man cannot resist such beauty? It is simply unfair to the Man and I have no defense. Gosh darn it. Thanks!

  • Wonderful, I listened an angel voice.

  • pishmolj za pishmolja..

  • this is awesum ...

  • I'm a die hard LZ fan - this is great - what a sad story though ...

  • ofra the voice!!..i wander if there can be such a voice again!

  • amazing!!!

  • I cant believe that it has been over 10 years since she passed. I miss you Ofra. Knowing that you are in peace and no longer in pain is such a comfort. I am so glad that you were able to share your voice with the world.

  • Ohhhh how lovely!!

I'm extremely impressed with her beautiful voice.

So sad she is no longer here....may she RIP :(

  • BELLAAAAA!!!!!!!

  • @PaziMine So Zeppelin has no folk influences, huh? You sure are an expert.

  • @PaziMine This isn't folk... it's acapella vocal beauty.

  • Wow! I have missed out by not hearing this sooner!

  • she is dead? wow rest in peace....and to all the redneck...kkk...f you!!!!!

  • @kderdas1 Yes, she tragically passed away in 2000. :(

  • @kderdas1 majority of the people who come to her videos to curse Israel and Jews are not rednecks, they're muslims and European anti-semites.

  • A truly beautiful voice. I hope she's resting peacefully.

  • beatuy got singer y miss you!

  • @PulpFictionized It's called interpretation. Zeppelin is a rock band, Ofra was a vocalist. What's the point of a cover if it's just a carbon-copy of the original?

  • Look, you can not to like this cover, fine.

But how the hell can you say that she is bad singer, seriously.

  • Led zep forever RIP Ofra Haza

  • Led zep forever

  • I think her and Lisa Gerrard are my favorite female vocalists

  • Best version of Kashmir since No Quarter

  • @chrislgr I love the No Quarter version! The whole reason I love the song is because of its MIddle Eastern flavors, so that version and both of Ofra's take those elements and make them huge. I love them!

  • Even an iffy cover cannot detract from the excellence of the songwriting. Listen to the chord change at the chorus and the way the vocal note plays. Middleeastern sounding? you damn betcha! Way to go Mr Page!

  • Good version from a great singer but my favorite is the live version Paige and Plant recorded in 1994.

  • Finding this song almost makes up for the sin of nobody uploading the track "Perilous Garde" by Avalon Rising on YouTube. B-]

And this is a cover? Well then - I sense further paths waiting to be explored... and with rather great expectations.

  • check out the cover from band name ayurveda.

  • When Led Zeppelin came out with this song in 1975, it was a song inspired from a long drive through Morocco, even though they were calling it Kashmir; even though they were British, it was a song with unmistakable Mideastern overtones, sort of like a reflection of that, from what I understand...

In way, it's kind of chilling to hear the Mideast echo it back...

  • @randommagnum I love that analogy!!

  • @iambored2006

I understand that not everybody is excited about covers of their favourite bands (myself included, in most cases).

But calling someone, who was as only Israeli ever nominated for Grammy and was admired by many famous musicians "a terrible singer" is just ridiculous.

  • For a cover to be of any credit it must first be an improvement on the original and to be an interpretation of one's understanding of the original, this is but a interpretation and a poor one at that, however, that is pretty much the way of most covers except where the artist has something to bring of oneself to the piece, there is that certain quality though albeit vague... in this cover.

  • Kashmir is a disputed region between Pakistan and India.

  • angelic voice - angelic soul - angelic women

    תיהיה נשמתך צרורה בצרור החיים

  • goosebumps...

  • I don't know what you guys are talking about, this is beautiful.!

  • she was AHLA!!

  • Its stupid to be honest

  • fills me with beauty... profound. just a beautiful soul

  • Oh hey, I can actually understand the lyrics now. Thanks for the translation, Ofra.

  • Before him I have been nowhere, and so am I again, Oh, Lord, make me strong enough as long as I realize my obligations from our deal. Nothing else matters

  • chilling.

  • Is there anywhere this version can be downloaded?

  • Also, the drumming is about as simple and dull as it gets. It's basically just famous because it's Led Zeppelin, and people said so.

  • @whelmers1 I am completely sincere when I say the world would be a better place without idiots like you. I don't normally get aggressive in comments, but you've just established a new level of cultural retardation in my book, and that merited some acknowledgement.

  • Amazing and Magical

    Worhty of Mass Recognition

    Bless you

    and thanks for sharing

  • ISRAELI LEGENDE

  • תעשה לייק אם גם אתה ישראלי ולא הבנת למה עופרה חזה עשתה קאבר ללד זפלין

  • omg i love love LOVE this!

  • @whelmers1 The lyrics speak of a knowledge you haven't the capacity to fathom because you have the IQ of a nit.

  • @whelmers1 honestly dude shut the hell up led zep is awesome, but so is her voice. and thats all were saying.

  • The video is bad but the music is spellbinding.

  • wow...i mean WOW!!!

  • Ofra Haza is the best. We miss her so much. Beautiful woman, great artistic interpretation. I just discovered her music this year. What a fabulous talent!

  • Haunting and beautiful. <3

  • One amazing lady! thanks for sharing this - I did not know she covered Kashmir

  • Rough with delicate performance of beauty, kiss.

  • wow wow wow wow wow..*almost fell off the chair* I never heard of this lady before..and now..

    what a voice...what a voice...Mezzo..but faultless.

And this version of the Kashmir is so beautiful.

Oh god she did..why these people die so early. What a talent..OH

  • kashmir é uma das mais belas do LedZeppelin... e aqui no original do deserto! Pelas barbas do profeta !!! maravilhoso e autêntico ! Impressionante o arranjo com simplicidade e .. COM O SOL batendo em minha face e as estrelas nos meus sonhos...... Perfeita !!!

  • I can understand Led Zep fans being hostile to cover versions. But this version in no way disrespects the original. It was never made as a commercial rip-off. It is Ofra's unique take emphasising her Middle Eastern background. After all, the song is set in the East. Aren't there over 100 versions of 'Yesterday'? Never heard Paul McCartney complaining!

  • I never stop missing Ofra. I wonder how anyone could have been this beautiful.

  • This is pretty awesome... I was looking for the original but this is badass as well.

  • BEUATIFUL!!! - POLAND

  • There are no words that can describe her beauty. Ofra Haza transcends this ugly world.

  • Voz de Diosa!

  • Oh noes! :o I think I broke the replay button!

  • vittu mitä paskaa

  • MY GOD! MY GOD! MY GOD!

  • a calm version, but i like it, her voice is so beautiful, its a pitty she left us so early...

  • Beautifully haunting.

  • amazing clear voice

  • волшебный голос. потрясающе красивая женщина! как жаль, что она ушла.

  • gaaaaaaay -____-

  • Ofra Haza is a Princess of mystic beauty, she will remain so for good. May she rest in peace.

  • Dude I'm a hick and I think this rocks!

  • Stunning and ravishing woman!

  • This is a very interesting and beautiful take on this song.

  • I found this by listening to Led Zepplin and was curious. I've never heard of Ofra, but her voice is amazing. I wanted to cry about 3 minutes into this song. Her voice has such a haunting quality. Few could have pulled this off as beautifully as she did. wow!

  • I'm a Led Zep fan but adore Ofra Haza's music, as well. If you're listening to this for the first time and you are appreciative of 'fine' music, then please listen to this all the way through. At about 1:45, it really starts to 'develop' into the most beautiful angelic chordal 'combustion' of pure beauty and love. She is no longer with us but thank God for these recordings!

  • Minha Ofra cantando Angra e Led Zeppelin.

  • So hauntingly beautiful the way she performed this piece. She had the most crystalline instrument; she was indeed a gift from God to the world...and she will always be missed.

  • For any fans of the original who for some reason don't like this version, check out her other version closer to the original. Search "Led Zeppelin Feat. Ofra Haza - Kashmir" and you'll find it... it's got the guitar, drums, all of it, while Ofra's mysterious and haunting voice remains, with an air of fun (I don't think Zeppelin themselves contributed to it as the video's name suggests).

  • Didnt have the best part of this entire song. The sweet guitar riff. Da da da..dadada..dadada..dadada..dadada..dadada.

  • @hullstar242 Her other version of this song has that.

  • It is great to hear different take on this classic - well done

  • who can say this is not just an incredible interpretation of a great song? i am sure led zeppelin would be honored to have been covered by such a unique voice...and by the way,may her soul rest in peace..love ofra haza

  • Sure its nothing like the original, but thats the point of a "re-interpretation" of a song, which is what Ofra Haza did. She turned it into her own. Honestly, if you look at the female artists of today, someone like Rihanna or Britney could never beautifully transform a classic rock song into such a mystical & haunting track... ok maybe Beyonce could but thats because she has talent and can actually sing like Ofra Haza did.

  • @renwah55 Nicely said. Ofra Haza was a one-off . Not Beyoncé, Whitney, Mariah, Celine or even Annie Lennox shape up. Discover more of her songs on YouTube - Mariah & Whitney caterwauling their way through their version of "When You Believe" was eclipsed by Ofra's "Deliver Us/River Lullaby" from the same film. Other stars singing tribute versions of her songs run out of steam. Ofra had such power, range, sustain, stamina and, at the same time, tenderness and subtlety. Yet she made it sound easy.

  • @KNJGSY Its is such a shame that there are so many singers today that don't even compare to Ofra Haza because they are unbelievably bad, they should've never even been signed a record deal. I will definitely explore her songs on Youtube, what album of hers do you think contains her best work?

  • @renwah55 Singer's don't compare to Ofra also because she war exceptional. Her best work ? All her work, no one album will do.

Albums: International:eponymous 'Ofra Haza', fans refer to as '1997', also Shaday, Kirya. Domestic: Yemenite Songs (aka Fifty Gates of Wisdom); Kol Haneshema /My Soul; Adama, Broken Days: Hebrew Folk/Trad.: Shirie Molodet 1/2 and 3. Live: Monreux Jazz Festival. Filmscore: The Prince of Egypt, The Governess. Both CD3 sets Greatest Hits 1 & 2. No.2 includes this "Kashmir".

  • @KNJGSY war exceptional? was exceptional - sorry! In brief: You want to buy one album go for 1997, two: add Kol Haneshema, three: Shirie Molodet 3, Four: Adama....by which time you will be hooked and you will find the resources to buy everything - more than the albums I have mentioned. ~:-)

There is a Montreux DVD which was studio redubbed but is still work looking for - Ebay if nowhere else.

Take a look at website hrmusic.com/discos/ohframe.html for the catalogue.

  • Oh wow, this is quite fabulous. Takes the haunting Zeppelin classic to a sort of mystical height.

  • @nahnni You have discovered Ofra Haza. ~:-)

That's what she did to music, make it fabulous, mystical and take it to a new level of beauty and excellence.

  • ok..... it's very middle-eastern, that's for sure...

  • in witch album i can find this song?!

  • @m002199 It's from her Unreleased album "Queen In Exile".

  • Наше тебе уважение!

  • i enjoy Alter bridge's cover more but i am not hating this, this is just different and it is still very good

  • The best cover of this song so far...wonderful interpretation. Ofra Haza's voice fits the song perfectly. Thanks for posting :)

  • @pstholm totally agree 100%

  • @pstholm Are you serious? If i were to ever cross path's with you I'd slap the shit out of you with a solder iron and shove your ears up your ass for posting such a false comment, best cover my ass. Pick up a vinyl dip shit.

  • @smokdatdro Haha, thank you for the nice and very constructive comment. It shows you have a great imagination, but a limited understanding and appreciation of different interpretations of this classic song. Anyway, I would have gotten the point if you'd just written: 'I don't agree'.

  • @smokdatdro Having some deep emotional problems are we? Writing comments while drunk makes you look like a retard, relax, this cover is too grand for your understanding.

  • Её можно бесконечно слушать и без музыкального сопровождения.

  • Beautiful, another gifted vocalist struck down in the prime of her life. Shalom Alechem Ofra!

  • wow!!! such beautiful vocals and absolutely wonderful. RIP Ofra Haza

  • Sounds so sweet dreams

  • I feel like smashing some of the people who make bad comments here. Its her version. Be happy she saw fit to cover Led Zeps classic. You damn hicks.

  • @glebe3047 just great, i think Robert Plant and Jimmy page approve

  • @KNJGSY she has dreaming voice and she sings very very sweet......it's not for someone bad to try other versions of a song .......and "does nit stacks"thought was a wrong typing....Maybe @hsotir1 wanted to say that is better to hear it by led zeppelin.

  • This is a hard rock song....she is very good singer but it does nit stacks

  • @hsotir1 I don't know what that last bit meant "does nit stacks".

You won't hear a better singer, seek her out on YouTube and discover that Ofra Haza was a talent that other singers could only dream about. Learn to listen.

Just because the song started out in one musical framework doesn't mean it cannot be transformed by another talent. So many people try to sing Ofra's own songs and sound rubbish compared with her. She was just too good.

  • beautiful

  • GOD I felt like grabbing a guitar and playing, its lacking guitar

  • @BoomBoy13 hahah cute :)

  • @BoomBoy13 Find Ofra's other version it's got guitar.

  • What does she mean with Kashmir?

  • @2009Oktober100 it's a zeppelin song..and kashmir is a region located north of pakistan and india..currently occupied proportionally by both countries. how could u not know that?!

  • very original , and so beautiful version !!

  • @nefera53 yes it is.

  • sux

  • That was...spooky.

  • She is magnificent and some parts are awesome but this song needs more crude passion and Led Zep gets my higher vote even done I absolutely adore Ofra

  • What a voice. Goosebumps.

  • wow like wow what a voice and love this version, but it is hardly recognisable as kashmir but in this case not a problem. wow

  • My god this is by far the worst Led Zeppelin cover I have ever heard.

Yes, the woman has a beautiful voice but Kashmir isn't about the voice. This is not worth to be called a cover, it is an entirely different song.

  • @thomasvanderveken I beg to differ. This is easily the best Led Zep cover version I have ever heard. It's been completely transformed, that's the whole point. it would be pointless doing a rock version of this.

  • @keith904A I agree with that. In fact, some songs shouldn't be covered at all. Romeo & Juliet from the Dire Straits is one of them. Kashmir from Led Zeppelin is another one.

But that's just a matter of opinion of course.

  • @thomasvanderveken I used to be precious about covers of my favourite bands, but the truth is that most cover versions are dreadful and often just pale imitations of the original. Some artists are very difficult to cover because they have such a distinct sound (Led Zep, Queen, Elvis) so the trick is to move it so far from the original it becomes an original in its own right. Two others I like are "All Along the Watchtower" by Hendrix and "La Bagarre" by Amanda Lear. They are new songs!

  • YYYESS,yes. I was looking for a rock instrmenal version of this song and found her: so beautiful this voice, this woman, just haunting.

  • 65 people have no love in their hearts. They live in fear and desperation.

  • for a free middle orient

  • Is there any way you could direct me to a place where I could locate this or might you be willing to send me a copy?

  • Thank you for new world!

  • Beautiful,Just Beautiful.Thanks for sharing.

  • @Dupedin2Madness

Yeah, Barry Chamish and his crazy conspiracy theories. Do you really believe in them ?

And btw this film was shown on Israeli public TV - more than once

  • @shmamit77 "Primal Justice" There are extracts on YouTube and you can get it on VHS on Ebay.

  • @KNJGSY Yes I saw these extracts on Youtoube and among offers on Ebay as well. This is really no "secret hidden movie" as some people believe.

  • @Dupedin2Madness Wow, thank you I'll look it up

  • New Ofra site. See 1000memoriesDOTcom/ofra-haza/ !

  • Very nice! but why an a cappella?

  • love ofra <3

  • Maybe if some of y'all would use less venomous criticism like, ruined, or shitty' you'd get less hate messages, you don't like her cover, fine, but don't be an asshole about it

  • Divine and breathtaking don't die without hearing this...xxx

  • @HCCARTA I agree. That applies to a lot of Ofra Haza songs. Her name and the word 'legendary' have been around together for quite a long time now. Yerushalayim Shel Zahav [Jerusalem of Gold] is one to see before you die - see the upload by davy1031, it has subtitles. The beauty of it has been known to make grown men cry.

  • if you know the meanings of the lyrics, you'll understand why this interpretation is as great as the original

  • so good

  • @lewisduncan93, do you use the n-word, too, or does your prejudice just extend to homophobia?

  • she's got a nice voice, but y'all are high if you think this is better than the original. the thump of paige's guitar bringing home the orchestra is the beating heart of the song, not the trance-y, wavy stuff this chick focuses on. i'll take rock and roll over this echoey shit any day.

  • @sqrlaway0 This isn't trance-y, it's just a different interpretation of the song. It's a matter of taste, because the two versions are so different.

  • @rpvee You tell 'em! ~:-)

Isn't it amazing how threatened some reactionary old Zepp fans feel when they hear a girlie reworking a boys song with such power and effectiveness? Yet if Ofra was alive now and stood in front of them they would fall at her feet, stunned by her beauty and charm. (unless they ARE gay)

It is sad that the vid with this track merged with a Zepp track is not still around - like I have said before, it sounded like high school kids jamming along with their teacher.

  • @KNJGSY Keith, surely you've heard the single version of Ofra's, right?!?!?! THAT is the version of the song I think you consider the "merged" one. It was available on the Mata Hari single. Just search for Ofra's Kashmir here on Youtube and it'll be on of the results!!

  • @rpvee No Brian. That's not the one that I mean. There was a clever one off merging of THIS version of Ofra's cover with a Led Zeppelin track (one of the many) with a bit of cutting, filling and shunting, I suppose.

It was a very competent home-made 'remix'. The version you refer to was showing in the right-hand page of this when I looked yesterday. I'm in comments only as I write this so it is not visible.

  • @KNJGSY ...upload by anakacic - is the one you mean

  • @KNJGSY Ah. Well in that case, a shame the remix was lost. :(

  • @sqrlaway0 I don't think it is 'better', it is just different.

  • @sqrlaway0 Sad.

  • well...honestly..Zep will never make it like Ofra did it...she gave soul and heart to song they were beating like disco.....she entered life in their song...its all i can say..only deaf in ears and hearts wont admit my words...

  • NICE WAY TO KILL A POWERFULL SONG .... :/

  • cant believe zep is letting visible minorities do covers

  • @Wolfgangzizka two members of zep were married to minorities.....a&&hat.

  • @Wolfgangzizka well aren't you a racist bag of shit.

  • @Wolfgangzizka I believe 'zep' have probably expanded their minds beyond your petty and limited bigotry.

  • Another great song from dear Ofra. What ever she sings, she puts all her effort into it.

No one like her. She has a heavenly voice.May we have the joy to hear her in heaven
