  • LG may be brighter. but hold on for LED DLP @ 120HZ.

SXRD and LCOS blur on sports or fast moving movies. which would also mean fatigue in games and a lower response time.

DLP does not have these pitfalls and with the led tech will be as bright.

using 120hz for a direct pc input will make games amazing also and perhaps the next gen consoles will have a few 120hz modes also.

finally Panasonic has the great auto anamorphic 2:35:1 stretch function so your getting really wide movies.

  • Hello, which image represents which projector?!

  • @strobe9 In the video, the Panasonic is on top, the Infocus on the bottom left and the LG on the bottom right.

Let us know if you have any other questions!

  • I'm leaning towards the LG as well, but I'm concerned about CEDIA coming up and wondering if prices might drop when newer models appear. Any thoughts on that PP?

  • @Terrathrax We are uber excited about CEDIA! But just between you, me and the rest of YouTube, I haven't heard anything about price drops. We're pretty close with the majority of manufacturers. They usually keep us in the loop, but we haven't heard anything about post-CEDIA price drops.

  • the pana looks infinitely dark compared to the LG. just see the face at 0:13 they are worlds apart.

  • @zaphod2 Maybe but the real punch and depth is far superior on the LG. WHile on its own the Pani looks great, next to the LG it really lacks life and 3 dimensionality and "texture" as I call it. Each to his own. The LG just rocks.

  • hey guys, which projector did you end up agreeing on looked the best, and had the best picture quality performance?

  • @jezza11989 Hey there! That's a tough question. We were impressed with all the projectors in this little shootout. However, the LG's brightness and contrast really blew us away, as did the InFocus' ability to handle the action scenes.

  • @ProjectorPeople whoa fast reply lol, thanks for that. were these projectors calibrated for the best possible picture or just out of the box settings? just another question for you's, how does the LG cf181d compare against the vivitek h5080? theyre supposed to be 2 really close competitive projectors, im just wondering if you's have done a side by side shootout of them to see whats better? or if you have just noticed anything better on the other...

  • @jezza11989 Ha! We're drinking lotsa coffee over here, hence the speedy replies.

The projectors weren't calibrated. We just opened the boxes and turned them on.

However, the LG's blue initially appeared more cyan than the other projectors, so we switched it to Warm mode.

No, we haven't shot the LG and the H5080 together...yet. But we do have a shootout of the H5080, Pan PT-AE4000U and Epson Home Cinema 8500 UB.

Check out the "High End Home Theater Projectors Compared" video from February.

  • @ProjectorPeople coffee's good :). i sent you a proper youtube message not too long ago, you should have it...i subscribed aswell haha. i already seen that video of those 3 projectors also having their shootout, which is also a good video! in the proper message i sent i mentioned that im wanting the LG, but the vivitek is my other choice for which projector to buy. so im just gonna wait maybe a day or so until i get a bit more info on that, then hopefully come back to buy from you's, exciting :D

  • @jezza11989 Working on a reply now!

  • @ProjectorPeople hello again. ive decided im going to buy the LG CF181D :D. thats a good choice i feel because its a great projector anyway, and its affordable enough for me to buy. i sent you a youtube message yesterday, have you read it yet? it has info in it and asks a few questions about buying and shipping, and warranty too. if you could get back to me that would be great, just to let me know if i can even buy from you's

  • Well first off I love your videos.

I had my mind set on the LG because I love the high brightness of my LED backlit TV. It looks like it pushes the reds a little too much but its something I could live with if calibration couldn't correct it.

Also living in Vancouver, nobody around here caries it so I will be ordering it from you guys it seems.

Keep up the great work !

  • @reddink271 Thanks so much. You made our day!

We agree the LG's color needs a little tweaking. At default settings, the LG's blue appeared more cyan than the others. We put it in Warm mode, which to the naked eye was perfect.

However, the camera we used to film the shootout really picked up the reds in Warm mode. I think that is what you're noticing.

And hey, you can always tweak color, but you can't fake brightness and contrast!
