and for usb drivers i dont know, i have the steelseries 5h v2 which is also usb based, but i just plugged them in without the driver, ill give any information if i find out how to
Guys, here's a quick solution if you want to record with Stereo Mix AND an analog microphone.
This worked for me on Windows XP: Enable Input Monitoring! (of course, use headphones) you'll hear yourself speak with a tiny delay, but it seems Stereo Mix records this.
@KidArez go to playback, and tune up your rear or front pink in(depends on what pink u put your mic in) and then you should be able to see the green bar go up at stereomix when u talk, which means it works
@TheRollingCubes i have used a usb microphone. I have come here because its been a while and now i dont remember how to set it up so that the usb microphone may work with stereo mix.
what happens if my microphone is on USB i got a Microsoft USB headset microphone. How will I be able to do it with that? it doesn't go into front mic it goes into it's separate microphone Microsoft Lifechat LX-3000
I was wondering why my stereo mix wasn't working & saw you had your audio plugin on speaker, not headphones. F.y.i. for those who use mainly the headphone plugin.
Yea that would probably fix it, but it would mean buying a new soundcard. Theres a cheaper way to get this effect, it involves using a program called Audacity and a feature called Software Playthrough. Google should be all you need for this. Hope tht helps some. =]
Dude. I can't get this to work. I got everything set up EXACTLY as shown in this video and the mic sound will not go to stereo mix. And yes I unclicked the mute option in the speakers property. Only the computer speaker sound goes to stereo mix. What the dilly yo?
I went to speaker>properties>level but I don't have that many stuff... I only have Realtek HD Audio Output and PC Beep... Do I have to download something for it??
ive done it all i have a guitar hero tour mic, and for ome reason ican't hear nothing still do i have to have soemthing open or am i doing somthing wong?
@pauloross well from what i know... No its not posible with a usb mic since usb is digital and not analog. analog for example a 3.5mm mic which uses the pink port in your computer. Using a 3.5mm mic im pritty sure this would work with one of those. Digital mics fail if your looking 2 do stuff like this. Hope this helps few people
yes i need help for this. thing is my vista on hp pavillion laptop it doesnt have it on my sound card which is conexant. i searched it and most said it doesnt handle it. i realized that ah couple dayz ago i had an issue with my sound and went in the white speaker icon and found out i have line in when i restarted it i didnt see it anymore... help
This only works if your audio device (sound card) supports two inputs at once! If your device only has a single lane for audio input then you cannot enable and use two inputs at once.
I currently have a XPS 1530 with a Sigmatel high def audio codec driver (Stereo mix isn't available with that driver) I noticed on the dell website that they recommend a SIGMATEL STAC 92XX C-Major HD Audio driver. Does anyone know if this will give me stereo mix?
can I do this in a laptop? I've been trying to do this with my Toshiba, but when I open the Realtek Audio manager, there is no playback volume option, only Recording Volume.
It doesn't matter if it is a laptop or not, it matters if you have Windows 7 or it depends on the type of audio card you have. Check if your drivers are fully updated as well, btw.
P.S. I know this comment was 8 months ago, but whatever.
I tried this on BlogTv and microphone still does not work , any ideas? All it plays is Video stream audio from realtek mixer. Can I add realtek mixer software that will allow both in playback? Thanks
I am not concerned with recording, only being able to talk along with my Video stream ?? any ideas, I know it can be done, I have seen people do it on BlogTV, but no one responds on how they are doing it.
mine does not work I set the stereo mix as default make it show disable devices and show disconnected devices, for the playback I removed the mute playback option for front pink in and it does not let me use both as when I set the stereo mix to default the little meter next to the microphone goes away the meter to the right where it shows it moving when I would talk .
almost...no medal. That last box did not have pink in or whatever you said. You need to ZOOM in on that screen. My choices are (5) Realtek HD Audio output; microphone, line in, side, center. Any idea how to make THAT work?
The problem is with your soundcard, it does not support this feature. I have the same issue as you unfortunately. From what I understand there's nothing you can do about it.
In xp ,click your sound icon in taskbar... click recording .tick stereo mix... untick everything else.. then click playback ..make sure mic is unticked and not muted... now you should be able to play music and talk all at once good luck :)
also to keep sound nice and clear.. make sure your wave in volume playback is only half way up and volume a little higher next to it.. to make sure music is not distorted..hope this helped :)
I'm having the same problem with the new Windows Live Messenger 2009, I have 'Stereo Mix' enabled in Windows Vista Recording tab but it doesn't appear when I do the Audio/Video setup in WLM. itself... it seems to me that Microsoft could have disabled this for good not unless it's something wrong with my hardware, plz pm me if u find a solution thanks!!!
same here, they must of taken stereo mix away for some reason :S also havnt provided ya with a uninstaller, if u want to then just goto start>run> msiexec /x {0AAA9C97-74D4-47CE-B089-0B147EF3553C}
