She does a GREAT job on this in her "Light Above The Trees" video (PBS) from The Palace Of Fine Arts in San Francisco(1997). A MUST see. I have it on VHS......WOW!!!
Sure, all of you can say what ever you darn well want, but I love Keiko and noone is very likely going to change that. You would have a better chance at making me think that there's a god. Good luck with that.
Just a little friendly advice people.....I checked out "Belonging" by this Jearrett chap....only listen if you want to fall asleep or bore yourself to death! And the drums? Who the hell is listening to the drums? Yeah, they are necessary for a band, but Keiko sounds great when she plays solo piano....check that out people!!!
Highly overrated i.e. average pianist IMO. Technique and show(wo)manship but no SOUL, this piece is run-of-the-mill cool-fusion with a meaningless prewritten "improv". Good drummer.
Can't believe you guys are marking this as spam. Let this man/woman give his/her opinion too, people!
I agree with you that this song feels like a way to just show Keiko Matsui's techniques and skill, which she definitely has, but there's just no feeling to it. No story to tell.
The drummer ís a tight drummer. This kind of music might seem harder than it is, but it's actually difficult to keep it tight like this.
Thanks DrummerShot. This is easier than it seems: It requires precision, something that most pro musicians have. Compare this anemic (IMO!) fusion with full-blooded fusion e.g. "Belonging" by Keith Jarrett and Jan Garbarek...
can u guys believe shes only 19 and already shes been on tour with elton john and harry keller!!! elton is already hailing her as one of the top 3 pianists hes ever herd!
I agree with the top three classification, but she is not nineteen. Her first album was released nineteen years ago, in 1989, and is titled, Under Northern Lights.
Talent....beauty,,,,,,,class....... a persona that can put out such sexy tunes.....KEIKO...
My dream to see her in concert..... someday.......
